Giving&GettingInvolved

DearParents,

-------

Since our beginning, the active participation of families in the Spalding community has been instrumental in continuing Spalding’s mission of being committed to challenging our students to grow spiritually, academically, physically, and socially. Our faculty, staff, alumni, and parent volunteers work together to make Spalding a school community that provides a caring environment focused on affirming the dignity of every individual while promoting learning, creating the opportunity for our students to have formational experiences that help shape and transform them into the people God calls them to be.

Whether you are new to Spalding or not, I hope that you will take the opportunity to get involved in the life of our school community. Spalding’s programs challenge our students to reach beyond what they think is possible, and our exceptional faculty inspire students to be innovative risk-takers and changemakers of the future. To make this possible, we encourage our parents to be engaged in the community in a way that they feel comfortable, providing support through their time, talent, and treasure.

I hope that you use the information here to learn more about the ways in which you can show your support and become involved in the Spalding Community. Whether through your time, talent, or treasure, your participation and generosity will make a difference for the entire Spalding community.

Financial Overview

Archbishop Spalding High School is committed to providing an education to each of our students that challenges them spiritually, academically, physically and socially. To provide this education, rooted in our Catholic faith, the financial financial support of our community is critical as tuition only covers a portion of the cost of educating each student at Spalding Your financial contributions are essential in helping maintain a vibrant, thriving institution that provides students with formational experiences that lead to transformational outcomes

Since tuition only covers a percentage of the actual cost of providing this experience, Spalding relies on your gifts to meet its annual operating expenses, to attract and retain outstanding faculty, and to invest in enhancements to our programs.

Opportunities to Give

T H E S P A L D I N G F U N D

Since Spalding’s Founding, our success has been the direct result of a tradition of generous gifts, both large and small. Today is no different, and Spalding continues to rely on current parents, alumnae, past parents, faculty, staff, and friends to provide the best educational environment for our students

The Spalding Fund

The Spalding Fund is an annual fundraising campaign raising unrestricted dollars from current parents, alumnae, past parents, faculty, staff, and friends These gifts have a significant impact on all areas of the school providing innovative teaching, robust professional development, state-ofthe-art technology, the best and the brightest faculty, and updated collaborative learning spaces

Each year, Spalding students take part in multiple clubs, sports teams, stage performance, and robotics competitions, to name just a few things! Gifts to The Spalding Fund help make all of this (and so much more) possible. These annual unrestricted gifts directly support our operating budget. They allow Spalding to continue to provide a Catholic education, committed to challenging our students to grow spiritually, academically, physically, and socially, rich with a variety of programs and opportunities that make a real difference in the lives of our students. Like other private, Catholic schools, tuition alone does not cover the cost of a Spalding education. Spalding relies on gifts of all sizes to make up the difference.

As support for The Spalding Fund grows, so does the flexibility the school has in its budget to do more for our students. Gifts to The Spalding Fund are spent in the year they are made and help balance the budget Spalding asks every parent to consider making an unrestricted gift each school year. Pledges are payable by June 30.

Capital

As projects arise, Spalding may ask families for special gifts or pledges, separate from The Spalding Fund, to accomplish the school’s long-term goals New facilities such as classrooms, field upgrades, and additional facility spaces were funded through the generosity of parents, alumni, and friends. Gifts to these capital projects are typically made in addition to support of The Spalding Fund and can be paid over a period of time.

Endowment

At Spalding, endowed funds represent an unparalleled source of financial stability and consistent growth Our primary objective is to establish a strong financial foundation through an endowment, further reinforcing our commitment to challenging our students to grow spiritually, academically, physically, and socially. These financial assets act as a safeguard, empowering our school to weather economic uncertainties and invest in long-term initiatives that shape the future of our students

Frequently Asked

A T H L E T I C S

Q U E S T I O N S

Why is my gift important?

Spalding, like most Catholic independent schools, relies on your gifts to meet its annual operating expenses, to continue its tradition of offering an exceptional education grounded in the Catholic Faith, and to provide opportunities to all students here on campus

Why not raise tuition?

Spalding’s tuition covers only a portion of the actual cost of providing an education If tuition were increased, many families would not be able to afford a Spalding education. To close the gap, monies raised by the Advancement Office allow us to provide a transformational education to more families, to attract and retain an outstanding and diverse faculty, to maintain the facilities and keep current on technological advances in education.

Why are participation rates so important?

Participation rates are an important way for Spalding to demonstrate to others in our community the commitment and dedication of our parents, alumni and friends to the school and our students We aim for 100% participation from our current parents.
