architects for change call for members frequently asked questions 1. How do I apply to become a member? To become a member, please check our eligibility criteria in the membership guide and fill out the online application before October 29. 2 weeks after you fill in the membership application, you will receive an email stating whether you are short-listed for an interview or not. 2. Do I have to apply again if I’m a former member? Yes, all former members have to apply again. In the application, you will be asked whether you are a new or a former member, so please make sure to select the correct option. Kindly check the Who Can Apply? in the membership guide to see if you follow this year’s eligibility criteria. 3. Am I eligible to become a member? You can apply to become a member if you are a student or graduate of 2016 or 2017, of any nationality and residing in Lebanon, under the age of 25 and studying a design-related major. To know more about this, kindly refer to the membership guide. 4. Am I eligible to become a fellow? If you are eligible to become a network member, and have enough time and interest in following a committed curriculum throughout the year, you can apply to become a fellow. 5. Can I join if I do not study Architecture? Yes, you can join if you are studying a design-related major including Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Graphic Design and Product Design. 6. Can I join if I’m not Lebanese? Yes, we accept applications from applicants of any nationality as long as they are residing in Lebanon during 2018. 7. Can I join if I don’t live in Lebanon? No, we only accept applicants who are residing in Lebanon during 2018, or at least spending more than 6 months in Lebanon in 2018. Please contact us by email to review your case. 8. Is there a membership fee? Yes, the membership fee is USD 50 (75,000 LBP) to be paid in cash on the first training day. 9. Does the membership fee guarantee free participation in all programs & events? No, the membership fee is a general contribution to facilitate your membership. However, members get occasional discounts on courses and local and international programs. In addition, most of our events are free of charge. 10. What are the benefits of the network membership? As a network member, you get the opportunity to be part of the Architects for Change community and access a variety of professional opportunities. Please refer to the membership guide to check all benefits in details. 11. What are the benefits of becoming a fellow? As a fellow, you get the opportunity to follow a full year program to develop your leadership, entrepreneurial, and design skills, with the opportunity to develop and initiate your own project at the end of the program. Please refer to the membership guide to check all the details about the fellowship program.


12. What is the difference between a network member and a fellow? Network members and fellows benefit from similar opportunities, however, the fellows follow a specific curriculum throughout their membership and they are asked to commit to the program. Network members are more free to attend and participate in other programs and events. Please refer to the membership guide to check the full comparison between both membership types. 13. Am I considered a member if I’m accepted for an interview? No, you are not considered an official member until you 1- receive an acceptance email after the interview, and 2- attend the orientation and training weekend and submit the membership fee and requested papers. Failure to attend the orientation and training weekend without a valid excuse results in automatic elimination. 14. How do I know if I’m accepted as a member/fellow? Two weeks after you submit the membership application, you will be notified by an email stating whether you are short-listed for an interview or not. If you are requested for an interview, you will be notified after the interview whether you are officially accepted or not. You are requested to contact us if you do not receive any email by November 20, 2017. 15. • • • • • •

What are the important dates of the application process? Deadline for Former Members to apply: October 1 Deadline for New Members to apply: October 29 First Round of Interviews: October 28 - November 18 - November 25 Second Round of Interviews for Fellowship: between October 28 & November 25 Results Announcement: December 1 Orientation & Training weekend - Friday, January 12, 6 pm - 9 pm - Saturday, January 13, 10 am - 5 pm for the fellowship applicants, an additional exclusive day: - Sunday, January 14, 10 am - 5 pm

16. Is there another round of applications during the year? No, applications are open only once a year. If you do not submit an application by the assigned deadline, then you will have to wait till next year to apply. 17. How committed should I be as a network member? A network member is expected to attend the two days during the orientation and training days on 12-13 January, 2018. After these dates, members can choose to commit depending on their free time. 18. Can I attend all events if I am neither a registered member nor a fellow? You can attend all the public events, but not the fellowship program events nor the community events - these are exclusive to fellows and members respectively. 19. As a member, do I have to attend all events? No, it is not mandatory to attend all events. However, members are highly encouraged to attend the workshops, programs, trips, events, and community gatherings depending on their time and availability in order to benefit, network, and make the best out of their membership.
