——国际评审团主席马丁·罗班

我们为何举办一场专门面向中国籍建筑师的作品征集竞赛？我们为何创建CA’ASI建筑艺术展馆这个场所，这个“建筑师之家”? CA’ASI的理念是什么？

Pourquoi un concours ouvert aux seuls architectes chinois, quelle était votre motivation ? Pourquoi avez-vous choisir de créer ce lieu, cette « maison commune des architectes » à Venise ? Quel est la philosophie de CA’ASI ?

法国AS建筑工作室进入中国市场已有十几年，多年来一直在与众多中国青年建筑师一起工作。随着对中国市场的不断了解，我们慢慢懂得了中国建筑的“生产”过程：直到不久以前，提出建筑项目概念与进一步深化扩初方案的权力还是主要掌握在权威设计院派手中。这样的情况一直存在，但一扇面向中国独立建筑师的大门已在慢慢敞开。如今的建筑师和艺术家们，或个人或团体，不仅是对建筑创作本身充满着热情，其概念灵感的产生也经过了深思熟虑。尽管他们所得到的酬金根本无法与法国公共建筑设计费相比，但这更加体现出他们的勇气。正是如此的勇气与热情造就了一大批优秀的建筑项目。秉承着法国AS建筑工作室一贯勇于迎接挑战的积极精神，此次关于中国新锐建筑的探索与探讨活动便应运而生了。现代中国建筑观察站曾经在法国建筑研究院举办过一次非常成功的展览，而我们的这次展览不仅延续了这一形式，同时以公开征集作品及竞赛方式增加了展览的广泛性与不确定性。我们之所以举办这样一场专门面对中国建筑师的竞赛，还因为这些中国建筑师大都被埋没在中国庞大规模的建筑建设中，对于国际业界而言尚显陌生。我们希望能够通过这样的比赛与展览来建立对他们的一种认识，或者再认识。以“人们在建筑中相遇”为主题的第十二届威尼斯建筑双年展无疑是向西方世界展示尚不为人所熟知的中国年轻建筑师作品的最好契机。值此机会，法国AS建筑工作室在其旗下位于威尼斯中心新圣玛丽亚广场的CA’ASI建筑艺术展馆举办双

Nous sommes en Chine depuis une dizaine d’années – et nous travaillons à Paris avec de nombreux jeunes architectes chinois. Avec le temps, nous avons commencé à comprendre le système de « production » de l’architecture en Chine. Jusqu’il y a pas si longtemps, seuls les instituts, l’architecture parfois reliés aux universités concevaient et développaient les projets. C’est toujours vrai, mais une porte s’est ouverte pour les architectes indépendants. Aujourd’hui de jeunes architectes artisans, seul ou en petit groupe, conçoivent des projets avec passion, et prennent parfois le temps, le long temps de la réflexion pour la conception, même si les honoraires sont très inférieurs en Chine aux honoraires des bâtiments publics en France. C’est d’autant plus courageux. Et ce courage, cette passion, permet l’éclosion de nombreux projets intéressants. Il y a une part de militantisme inhérente à Architecture Studio ; cette aventure en fait partie. L’observatoire de la Chine contemporaine avait déjà initié une belle exposition à l’Institute Française d’Architecture. Notre démarche se situe dans la continuité mais avec en plus l’incertitude lié à la procédure des concours ouverts. Nous avons réservé ce concours aux seuls architectes chinois, car nous pensons qu’ils ne sont pas assez reconnus au niveau international. Ils sont cachés par la grande masse des constructions architecturales. Ce concours devrait participer à cette connaissance – reconnaissance. La Biennale d’Architecture de Venise 2010 organisée autour du thème « people meet in architecture » est sans doute le média le plus approprié pour promouvoir la qualité de l’architecture chinoise qui aujourd’hui encore reste largement méconnue en occident. Nous avons pris l’initiative de rendre cette rencontre possible dans le cadre d’une exposition organisée à la Ca’Asi située au cœur de Venise

年展官方活动《中国新锐建筑创作展》，为东西方建筑交流对话搭建了平台。面对越来越多的超级国际大都市和不可避免的全球化进程，威尼斯，如同中国的标志性城市北京、上海和其他大城市一样，充满着活力与能量，并且在不断发展中。尽管如此，凭借其悠久的历史与丰富的人文内涵，威尼斯还是当之无愧地成为了承接众多当代文化活动的文化名城，这其中就包括著名的威尼斯建筑双年展。就是在这样的一座城市，我们创建了CA’ASI建筑艺术协会，它的成立旨在通过举办各种展览及文化活动并承接相关活动，达到推广建筑师、艺术家及建筑艺术家的目的。 CA’ASI建筑艺术展馆将在今年第十二届威尼斯建筑双年展期间正式对外开放。8月26日起，这里将举办著名建筑摄影师阿历克斯·马克林以巴黎拉德芳斯地区为主题的城市摄影展。之后，《中国新锐建筑创作展》将于9月25日在这里开幕，直至十一月中旬威尼斯双年展结束。我们非常荣幸地得到了拉法基集团对本次活动的全程赞助，以及协办单位中国《AREA域》的媒体支持；同时也获得筑龙网的深度网媒宣传。作为对当代建筑爱好者及从业者开放的“沙龙”， CA’ASI建筑艺术展馆将通过举办各种展览及活动成为提供关于城市规划、建筑和当代艺术反思的全面实验室，并可以以此使更多的人接触到专业的思想碰撞。建筑师、城市规划师、景观设计师、造型艺术家们不仅可以在此找到传递与交流思想经验的必要工具，还可以找到发表期间的宿营地。通过展览、会议、辩论、投影等不同主题与形式的活动，CA’ASI建筑艺术展馆将成为威尼斯建筑艺术双年展以及其他活动中不可多得的文化舞台。

dans le Palazzo Santa Maria Nova, Campiello Santa Maria Nova en association avec la Biennale. Face à la dimension des grandes métropoles, face à cette inéluctable mondialisation, Venise s’est imposé comme l’emblématique contrepoint à Shanghai et Beijing, et à toutes ces grandes villes sauvages et énergiques qui se développent. Paradoxalement, ou peut être simplement dans la continuité, de son histoire, Venise est devenue une ville culturelle qui accueille de nombreuses manifestations contemporaines, dont la XIIème Biennale d’architecture. Nous avons donc créé une association CA’ASI dont le but est d’organiser des expositions, des évènements culturels et d’entreprendre toute action liée à ces évènements, afin d’assurer la promotion des artistes, des architectes (artistes ?). Nous avons imaginé CA’ASI qui sera inaugurée officiellement lors de la prochaine biennale d’architecture. Ce lieu va d’abord ouvrir le 26 aôut avec une exposition du photographe « urbain » Alex Mac Lean, sur le quartier parisien de la Défense. Puis, le 25 septembre sera inauguré l’exposition des architectes chinois, qui durera jusqu’à la fin de la biennale, mi – novembre. Nous avons eu la chance d’être rejoint par le groupe Lafarge qui nous a proposé d’être le sponsor principal de cette manifestation. Puis Area Chine nous a aidé à organiser la logistique en Chine. Conçue comme un « club » ouvert à tous les amateurs d’architecture contemporaine, la CA’ASI se veut un laboratoire de réflexion (s) urbaine (s) architecturale (s) et artistique(s), que mettront en scène ses manifestations. Architectes, urbanistes, paysagistes, designers etc… y trouverons non seulement les outils nécessaires pour partager leurs idées et expérimentations, mais également le gîte durant le temps nécessaire à leur diffusion. Au travers les thématiques de ses manifestations (expositions, installations, séminaires, débats, projections…) CA’ASI souhaite être en phase avec la Biennale d’art contemporain et la Biennale d’architecture, et les autres grandes manifestations de Venise.

CA’ASI中国新锐建筑创作展 Frederic Edelmann 凭借着扎根中国，特别是在上海多年所获得的经验，法国AS建筑工作室举办了《中国新锐建筑创作展》。此次创作展形式令人耳目一新，是对2008年建筑设计城策划的创作展的成功延续，在2008年的那次展览中，十五位中国建筑师的作品曾被公诸于世。今年我有幸作为评委参与了此次新锐建筑创作展的评审。十三个项目获参展资格，三名大奖与一名评委特别奖脱颖而出。竞赛的宣传主要通过口耳相传的形式进行，首轮预选中，我们自150余份参赛作品中筛选出了40余份来自于不同程度的学生与建筑师的作品。本着不拘泥于高雅，鼓励中国城市建筑创新的主旨精神，预选的标准也较为宽松。获CA’ASI威尼斯参展资格的项目中包含三位创作大奖。大舍建筑（柳亦春，陈屹峰，庄慎）的合伙人建筑师柳亦春主持的上海嘉定新城幼儿园项目，为我们展示了青浦附近一座欢乐而充满动感的儿童天地。幼儿园面向的儿童年龄层次较高，大舍为他们打造了一座颀长通透的建筑，第一眼印象虽略嫌硬朗，然而随机与重复的结构却消解了这种印象。建筑色彩运用微妙，随着空间拓展而深入，无愧于大舍建筑作为中国当代建筑最丰富多产工作室之一的称号。同样，还有董功，他作为合伙人于2008年与徐千禾及其他七位建筑师共同创立了北京直向建筑。董功与徐千禾完成学业后都曾在美国大型建筑事务所中效力。例如董功，就曾经在史蒂芬·霍尔，理查德·迈耶和所罗门·科德韦尔·布恩兹（芝加哥）旗下工作，因而，他对建筑形式与和技术的熟练掌握也就毫不令人惊奇。他们的作品名叫“瞬间城市”，地处安徽省合肥市，距南京三小时车程。除CA’ASI创作展外，董功还受邀参加2010年威尼斯双年展，同时接受邀请的还包括大舍建筑，朱小地，朱锫等。第三个获奖项目：天津塘沽区滨海的临时办公大楼（天津滨海 CBD），王振飞主创。王振飞与他的合伙人王鹿鸣有着相同的职业轨迹，他们都曾在荷兰工作过，分别与UN Studio与Winy Maas（MVRDV）工作室共事。还有荷兰的HHDesign，后者由他们在2008年创立了名为HHDesign_Fun的北京事务所。他们设计的滨海办公大楼风格洗练严谨，建筑为六面型，表面形式的重复凸显出技术掌握的精巧熟练。初看似与工作室一直以来坚持的流线型，轻巧协调的建筑风格不符，但两种风格之间有着相似的平衡性，更在滨海办公楼这个作品中取得了一致。 6

Le concours organisé par Architecture Studio, agence française solidement implantée en Chine, notamment à Shanghai, donne sous une forme différente une suite heureuse à l’exposition présentée en 2008 par la Cité de l’Architecture où le travail d’une quinzaine d’architectes chinois fut montré au public. A la suite de ce concours au jury duquel nous avons pu participer en juillet 2010, treize projets ont émergé parmi lesquels trois prix et une mention. Au préalable, une première sélection avait permis de repérer une quarantaine de projets d’étudiants ou d’architectes diversement confirmés, eux-mêmes nominés parmi cent cinquante candidats rassemblés par une information de bouche à oreille, sans critères trop stricts, sinon la recherche de l’innovation dans un univers urbain chinois qui ne s’encombre pas, pour l’essentiel, du plus grand raffinement. Parmi les projets exposés à Venise dans le cadre de CA’ASI, trois ont été primés. Une école dans le district de Jiading dans la municipalité de Shanghai signée Liu Yichun, leader de l’atelier Deshaus (Liu Yichun, Chen Yifeng, Zhuang Shen), qui s’était déjà fait connaître par un jardin d’enfant émouvant et joyeux dans le district proche de Qingpu. L’école de Jiading accueille des enfants nettement plus matures, pour lesquels Deshaus a dessiné un édifice tout en longueur dont les façades à première vue rigides, marquées par une composition à la fois aléatoire et répétitive, par un travail subtil sur la couleur comme la profondeur des ouvertures, place l‘agence parmi les plus fécondes de l’époque contemporaine. Même remarque pour Dong Gong, partenaire de l’agence pékinoise Vector, constituée en 2008 avec Chien-Ho Hsu ainsi que sept autres architectes. Dong comme Chien ont, après leurs études, essentiellement travaillé dans de grandes agences américaines. Steven Holl, Richard Meier et Solomon Cordwell Buenz (Chicago), pour Dong. Pas étonnant qu’ils manifestent une telle maîtrise des formes et des techniques dans cet ensemble de maisons baptisé « Momentary City », à Hefei, dans l’Anhui, à trois heures de Nankin. Dong Gong est d’ailleurs, invité par la Biennale de Venise 2010, indépendamment de l’exposition CA’ASI, avec l’Atelier Deshaus, Zhu Xiaodi, Zhu Pei… Troisième projet primé : un bâtiment provisoire (TJ Binhai CBD) destiné à des bureaux à Binhai dans le district de Tanggu (Tianjin) signé Wang Zhenfei. Wang Zhenfei comme son partenaire Wang Luming a fait ses premières armes aux Pays Bas, à l’agence UN Studio ainsi qu’avec Winy Maas (MVRDV), et les graphistes d’HHDesign, dont ils ont créé (2008) la branche de Pékin sous l’appellation HHDesign_FUN. L’édifice très strict de Binhai, un grand parallélépipède marqué par des façades à la fois répétitives, et savantes par les techniques qu’elles mettent en œuvre, semble s’opposer à la majorité de l’agence, caractérisée par un design fluide, léger et harmonieux. L’équilibre fait le lien entre les deux

参展其他作品亦汇集了中国建筑师各路群英。例如，孟建民的 B20号作品。孟建民不仅是孟健民建筑事务所的创始人，也是深圳市总建筑设计研究院，即SADI的总建筑师，该研究院经常与OMA合作。他的建筑风格理性渊博，侧重于对结构性的追求，几乎达到了一种数学的严整。这种风格在中国多被各研究机构重视，也有尚不为人熟知的建筑师对其进行探讨，例如张亦驰，他的组品结构复杂，游走在计算与现实的边缘。这也是阮昊作品的风格之一，阮毕业于普林斯顿大学（美国），回国后于PrestonScottCohen工作室效力，参与了太原美术馆的设计。他的建筑特点是对断裂，甚至是断折的娴熟运用。阮昊似乎游离于两个世界之间：组织严密的昆虫世界，尤其是蚂蚁世界，他一直以来都关注这些小动物看似随意的逻辑性，与超大城市中人类的处境之间的类似。对于后者，他选取了一种既批判又建设性的切入角度。因而，我们也就惊喜地看到了他在北京和苏州工业园区的设计。该项目（未建）是为2010年世博会设计的，选送参加了CA’ASI展。作品是一个火车站，具有极低的隐喻性，直白地表现了人类迁徙的的不确定性，似乎正源自于蚂蚁的灵感。作品总量与内部结构的对比，令人联想到瑞士洛桑的Sanaa工作室作品。结构几近谵妄，类似Zaha Hadid。当谈到北京时，阮昊说，应当在混沌与和谐之间做出选择。而这里，我们看到被和谐禁锢的混沌。能持续多久呢？这样一种人文主义的精神，也由白洋表现出来。他一直以来都致力回到人身上去，他的作品表现出犹豫的形式，甚至是精神的形式。人，在这里退回到了一个保护性的硬壳里，一半坚果，一半牡蛎。傅筱是长兴广播电视中心的建筑师，长兴离太湖不远，地处浙江，他亦参与了该城市某桥梁的设计，并担任了广东省众多项目，包括大型项目的设计师。他的建筑风格清晰地表现出对西方经典的活用，某种程度上，亦可看作是对马清运的传承。为了表彰这一特性，陪审团择取了两个项目，均出自学生之手：沈梦岑，26岁，上海大学美术学院学生。她的作品具有神秘的诗意。沈梦岑对中国城市设计现状中存在的，对场所气质的漠然与忽视持有批评态度，她的作品正是这种态度的具象化。王耀华，在洛杉矶参加交换的建筑学生，他为城市的未来提供了一幅充满质疑与活力的前景。另外三名年轻建筑师是在WSP事务所的合作伙伴，他们共同投递的作品档案为他们赢得了评委特别提名：吴钢（北京近郊四合院群），陈凌（北京亚运新新俱乐部，2002），张瑛（苏州金墅商业街坊）。第四位合伙人Knut Rossen弃权了。这三个项目的入选，不仅仅因为其素质，也是因为它们分别代表

styles, et c’est dans le bâtiment de Binhai que doit se faire la réconciliation. Parmi les autres projets présentés se trouvent rassemblés les dimensions les plus diverses de l’architecture chinoise. Taille XXL avec Meng Jianming, patron de l’agence Meng architects mais aussi du Shenzhen general Architectural Design and research Institute, ou SADI, qui travaille régulièrement avec OMA. C’est une architecture savante, marquée par les recherches structurelles, et qui flirte avec les mathématiques. Une veine volontiers explorée en Chine par ce type d’Institut comme par des personnalités encore peu entourées tel Zhang Yichi dont les structures complexes restent aux frontières du calcul et du réel. C’est une des gammes du travail de Hao Ruan, beau produit de l’Université de Princeton (USA), revenu en Chine pour travailler avec la firme Preston Scott Cohen sur le musée d’art de Taiyuan, architecture marquée par une savante recherche sur la rupture, voire la fracture. Hao Ruan semble partagé entre deux univers : celui des insectes organisés, tout spécialement des fourmis, dont il explore les « logiques » aléatoires et celui de l’homme dans la condition des mégalopoles comme Pékin. De ces dernières, il tire une approche à la fois très critique et constructive. D’où des propositions inattendues pour la capitale comme pour la zone industrielle de Suzhou. Le projet (non réalisé) retenu à CA’ASI, a été dessiné pour l’Expo 2010. C’est un pavillon des chemins de fer dont l’architecture très loin d’être métaphorique, laisse imaginer les déplacements de l’homme dans l’optique de l’incertitude qui semble régir le mouvement des fourmis. Le contraste entre le volume général et la structure intérieure rappelle l’agence Sanaa à Lausanne. Le délire structurel rapproche ce projet de Zaha Hadid. Il faut choisir entre le chaos et l’harmonie dit Hao Ruan à propos de Pekin. Ici l’harmonie emprisonne le chaos. Pour combien de temps ? Un tel propos humaniste se retrouve chez Bai Yang dont la volonté exprimée d’aller « à la rencontre des gens» se traduit encore par des hésitations formelles, voire spirituelle, l’homme étant appelé à se replier dans une coquille protectrice, mi-noix, mi-huitre. Xiao Fu, architecte du centre radio TV de Changxing, non loin du lac Taihu, dans la province du Zhejiang, et d’un pont habité dans la même ville, est aussi l’auteur de nombreux et parfois vastes projets dans la région de Canton, apparaît plus classiquement marqué par les références occidentales, un peu dans le sillage de Ma Qingyun. Comme pour compenser ce tropisme le jury a retenu deux projets dus à des étudiants : Shen Mengcen, 26 ans, étudiante à l’école d’art de l’Université de Shanghai qui cherche, par une poésie mystérieuse, à résoudre sa vision critique de l’univers urbain chinois, indifférent à l’esprit des lieux. Wang Yaohua, étudiant en architecture a envoyé de Los Angeles, un dessin animé riche d’interrogations sur l’avenir des villes. Trois autres jeunes architectes, partenaires dans l’agence WSP ont associé leur sort dans un seul dossier, qui leur a finalement valu une mention : Wu Gang (ensemble de maisons près de Pekin), Chen Ling (Asian Olympic Games Xinxin Club, Beijing, 2002), Zhang Yin (Jinshu Commercial Center, Suzhou). Le quatrième partenaire, Knut Rossen, s’est abstenu. Les trois projets ont été retenus, bien sûr pour 7

着现代中式建筑在发展的同时试图保持与自身传统契合的三种发展趋势。吴钢和他的四合院；张瑛与她对符号的重新发现，与以龙为灵感的整体设计；陈凌和她传统木质结构与钢铁的打乱重排。这是一个西方人所能感触到的，而且，所有WSP合伙人都曾经受过欧式教育的历练。他们所属的学派传统可追溯到 90年代，2000年代。 2000年以来的最初几年，我们见证了中国一代建筑师的崛起，他们大部分还很年轻，至今仍然享有相当的名望。他们有人曾参与奥运会场馆设计工作，例如齐欣，或同期的北京城市项目（木棉花酒店，朱锫）。在上海，马清运（Mada S.P.A.M.）引进了以西方大学校园为基础的灵感，与此同时，大舍建筑团队（柳亦春，陈屹峰，庄慎）也一直坚持着他们最初的灵感和自由创新的创作初衷，今日亦跻身于获奖者之列。在深圳，曾与朱锫合作过的Urbanus建筑事务所，也积极投身于城空间的开发，对现有建筑模式进行再创造，想法出人意料。就是他们，提出了对土楼的现代改造，土楼是一种传统的，大型圆形的客家建筑，设计师们认为这种形式非常适合于超大城市。在四川成都，刘家坤继续着他对卓越的追求，而王澍早在 2006年威尼斯双年展便为人所知。他的风格是一种根深蒂固的细腻传承，通过对传统材质令人惊喜的回归，与对中式空间的全新诠释，而被整个世界所熟悉。不应忘了张永和和崔恺。很大程度上，他们都可被称为齐欣这一代建筑师的教父。在前身为法国建筑学会展，现由法国文化部当代中国建筑观察站举办的展览中，这一代年轻建筑师中，只有一支队伍，大舍建筑，凭借柳亦春设计的一个项目夺取了奖项。其他同行们都选择弃权，毫无疑问地，是为了将机会让给新来者。然而，如果我们重新细细审视候选人名单，会发现，不应对他们的角色进行如此简单的划分。无论是北京清华，还是上海同济，候选人数都和师资队伍人数之间有挂钩，或者与重要建筑学院的系主任挂钩。因而，光是徐卫国负责的学院（清华大学），就独力提交了一份内容翔实的，包含十个项目的档案。这个参赛项目因为规模太大，而无法被全部接受。并且，档案中某些项目完全值得得到分开的独立评审。译注：坚果：语出莎士比亚《哈姆雷特》第二幕第二场：“……即使被关在果壳中，我仍是无限空间之王。……”。牡蛎：典出莎士比亚《风流寡妇》第二幕第二场：“……若世界是一只牡蛎，我将以剑将之撬开。” 8

leur qualité, mais aussi parce qu’ils représentent trois tendances de l’architecture chinoise actuelle, tentant de rester en phase avec la tradition. Wu Gang et les maisons à cour carrée, Zhang Yin et les retrouvailles symboliques avec un plan masse inspiré du dragon, Chen Ling pour la transposition en acier des structures de bois classiques. C’est du moins l’œil occidental qui peut s’y reconnaître ainsi, et d’autant mieux que tous les partenaires de WSP ont été formés en Europe. Ils s’inscrivent dans un mouvement qui remonte aux années 90 et 2000. Les premières années qui ont suivi l’an 2000, ont vu, en Chine, l’émergence d’une génération d’architectes, pour la plupart peu âgés dont le renom n’a depuis pas faibli. Certains ont travaillé sur le site des Jeux Olympiques, comme Qi Xin, ou sur des projets concomitants dans la ville de Pékin (Blur Hotel de Zhu Pei). A Shanghai, Ma Qingyun (Mada S.P.A.M.) importe son inspiration des grandes écoles occidentales tandis que l’équipe de Deshaus, (Liu Yichun, Chen Yifeng, Zhuang Shen), que nous retrouvons parmi les lauréats d’aujourd’hui, formée en Chine s’est organisée pour conserver son inspiration initiale, libre et inventive. A Shenzhen, l’Agence Urbanus, à laquelle avait préalablement participé Zhu Pei, s’est également développée notamment dans le domaine de l’espace urbain mais aussi dans l’invention ou la réinvention de modèles pour le moins inattendus. C’est ainsi qu’ils ont proposé une vision contemporaine du Tulou, ces grands bâtiments ronds caractéristiques des minorités hakka qui leur a semblé adaptable aux mégalopoles. A Chengdu, dans le Sichuan, Liu Jiakun a poursuivi sa recherche d’excellence tandis que Wang Shu se faisait connaître dès 2006 à la Biennale d’Architecture de Venise et au-delà, dans le monde entier par ses réalisations sensibles et ancrées dans des retrouvailles surprenantes avec les matériaux traditionnels et la réinterprétation de l’espace chinois. On aura garde d’omettre Yung Ho Chang et Cui Kai qui ont, à bien des égards, parrainé cette génération, comme Qi Xin. Parmi ces derniers, sollicités notamment par le biais de l’Observatoire de l’Architecture Contemporaine en Chine, à l’origine de l’exposition de l’Ifa, seule une équipe, celle de Deshaus, à travers un projet signé Liu Yichun s’est retrouvée primée. Ses camarades se sont abstenus sans doute pour laisser leur chance à des signatures nouvelles. Cependant, une lecture attentive de la liste des candidats ne permet pas de faire un partage aussi simple des rôles. Que ce soit de Tsinghua à Pékin ou de Tongji à Shanghai, le lien se fait naturellement entre nombre des candidats et des professeurs, voire des doyens des grandes écoles d’architecture. C’est ainsi qu’un dossier de dix projets de bonne tenue est venu d’un bloc de l’Institut dirigé par Xu Weiguo (Tsinghua). Une escouade impossible à retenir dans son ensemble alors que certains projets auraient peut-être mérités d’être dissociés.

中国：文化的演变 China: Cultural Evolution 马可·卡萨蒙蒂 MARCO CASAMONTI 毫无疑问的是，中国的建筑，特别是由年轻的中国建筑师们设计并完成的作品，充满了积极的能量，这些是你在其他地方很难看到的。这种独特的文化现象是普遍存在的，与中国当前的社会经济与文化条件相映衬。实际上，这涉及到一种特定情况，它关系到所有的那些经过转变过程后所富有特性的地缘政治背景，这正是在建筑学中可以找到的典型土地变性和物质现实转变的艺术，是一块应用和试验的富饶领域。建筑就如同一门学科一样，它在时间和空间中迁移变化，与周围条件的多样性紧密关联，并被历史性地展现和论证。文艺复兴以及在文艺复兴时期所出现的那些非凡艺术家们，在十四世纪上半叶的佛罗伦萨得以繁荣昌盛的发展，正是因为在城市中集中了一股强大的经济、政治和文化力量，但是文艺复兴在我们所认知的西方世界中所拥有的这种力量是不同的。到了1534年，米开朗基罗这位特别的建筑师与出色的艺术家，受到教会势力、圣彼得新教堂和新秩序的影响，离开自己的家乡来到罗马。不断变化的环境和罗马的政治作用成为下一个季的特点，它为这座“永恒之城”吸引了如贝尼尼和博罗米尼等艺术家，并以他们为起始点，在十七世纪的发展进程中逐步诞生了巴罗克艺术风格。通过多个实例和个案研究，简单的说，我们认为二十世纪末被烙上了柏林式阅历的痕迹。在柏林墙倒塌后，需要构建一个新的首都来吸引资源、精神和知识力量。建筑就是一面反映这一国家与社会转型过程的镜子。从那个时候开始，世界所关注的焦点和建筑，转到了中国。中国的建筑设计和规划是一个可识别的地缘经济和政治环境变化的标记，不光给北京和上海带来了奥林匹克运动会或者世界博览会，而且还通过这些机会和建好的工程为中国带来一个丰富而振奋的建筑学讨论。对于建筑领域的研究，在经历过从赫尔佐克和德穆龙设计的奥运会体育场到库哈斯的中国中央电视台等大师级的作品后，如何证明新一代建筑师的发展进步？新一代的建筑师已经跨越了模仿阶段，直接参与可以显现个人特色的试验和研究。根据当前现状，在知识层面和生产层面来衡量与评估自己竞争力的机会好像非常多，而且令人振奋。从工业设计到城市 10

Non c'è alcun dubbio che l'architettura in Cina, in particolare quella pensata e prodotta da giovani architetti cinesi, sia attraversata da una carica di energia positiva e propositiva difficilmente riscontrabile in altri contesti. Tale fenomeno, eccezionale sul piano culturale, deve essere considerato come assolutamente normale e conseguente alle attuali condizioni socio economiche e culturali del Paese. Si tratta in effetti di una situazione specifica, quanto necessaria, che interessa tutti quegli ambiti geo-politici caratterizzati da periodi di trasformazione che appunto trovano nell'architettura, per eccellenza arte della trasformazione del territorio e della realtà fisica, un campo fertile di applicazione e sperimentazione. Che l'architettura come disciplina si sposti nel tempo e nello spazio, sia cioè legata al variare delle condizioni al contorno, è dimostrato e dimostrabile storicamente. Il Rinascimento e con esso il fiorire di straordinari artisti si sviluppa a Firenze nella prima metà del XIV secolo perché nella città si concentra un potere economico, politico e quindi culturale, che non ha uguali nel mondo occidentale allora conosciuto. Tuttavia già nel 1534 Michelangelo, straordinario architetto e artista fiorentino, lascia la città alla volta di Roma attratto dal potere della chiesa, dalla costruzione della nuova cattedrale di San Pietro, semplicemente, ma non banalmente, da nuove straordinarie commesse. Le mutate condizioni e il ruolo politico di Roma sono il volto di una successiva stagione che porta nella "città eterna" artisti come Bernini e Borromini e da questi, nel corso del '600, il barocco. Per brevità di trattazione e non certo per mancanza di esempi e casi studio, consideriamo la fine del secondo millennio segnata dall'esperienza berlinese dove la necessità di costruire una nuova capitale attrae, con la caduta del muro, energie, forze mentali e intellettuali che vedono nell'architettura lo specchio di un paesaggio, di un Paese e di una società in profonda trasformazione. Da quel momento, l'attenzione del mondo e con essa l'architettura, come conseguenza e come strumento, si concentra sulla Cina. Il progetto e i progetti altro non sono che il segno tangibile di un mutato contesto geo economico e politico che portano a Pechino come a Shanghai, non soltanto le olimpiadi o l'Expo universale, ma con le occasioni e le opere costruite un fertile e stimolante dibattito architettonico. Ciò che rende fiduciosi, sul piano della ricerca in ambito architettonico rispetto alla nuova architettura cinese, è il constatare come, dopo la stagione delle grandi icone, dallo Stadio Olimpico di Herzog e De Meuron al CCTV di Rem Koolhaas, si sia sviluppata una nuova generazione di architetti

和景观规划，通过创建新城市来进行城市规划试验。这个令人难以置信且无法复制的执行条件既作为希望也作为必要条件而出现，因此中国最好的建筑师都会饱含决心和精力朝着下个时代迈进。这些方面的知识研究可以在现实中找到其各自应用的领域，理论和实践的相互渗透，为成为文化潮流的先驱创造着条件，构建了每一个艺术表现的生命力。同时，可以隐约看到一些信号，即将作品创作从最初的权属意愿转移到更广义的世界范围，转移到对不同个人创作过程的研究，以便能够突显归属性和特殊性，当然这些作品还需要具备成熟与智慧的设计，这样才会受到人们的欢迎和喜爱。如果这种推动力能够表现出来，既体现在具有不同特色的个人魅力中，又要体现在针对居住、交通、污染、能源浪费以及在拥挤的大都市里孤独生活等具体和现实的问题中，那么这将要求建筑师们能够以批判的眼光来审视一个地区的背景和环境，在数年之后也会成为后人的参照。

che, superata la necessaria fase dell'emulazione, punta diritta verso la sperimentazione e la ricerca di una propria specifica identità. Le occasioni per misurarsi e misurare la propria competitività sul piano intellettuale e produttivo, allo stato attuale, sembrano numerosissime e stimolanti anche perché investono il progetto a tutte le scale di approfondimento, dall'industrial design, al progetto urbano e di paesaggio, fino alla sperimentazione urbanistica con la fondazione di nuove città. Questa incredibile e irripetibile condizione operativa emerge come speranza e come necessità, pertanto il proposito e l'energia che oggi attraversa i migliori architetti cinesi non può che spingere verso una stagione, che si preannuncia duratura, in cui la ricerca intellettuale trova i propri campi di applicazione nella realtà, dove teoria e prassi si compenetrano creando quelle condizioni che storicamente sono il preludio di un fervore culturale che costituisce la linfa vitale di ogni manifestazione artistica. Contemporaneamente, si intravedono i primi segnali di un metodo operativo che sembra spostarsi dall'iniziale volontà di appartenere ad un mondo generalizzato e globale, ad una ricerca di percorsi personali e differenti in grado di marcare un senso di appartenenza e di specificità che certamente deve essere salutato come una conquistata maturità e intelligenza del progetto. Se tale impulso riuscirà a manifestarsi, non già in un personale ricorso a differenti calligrafie, ma in una risposta efficace rispetto ai concreti e reali problemi dell'abitare, del traffico, dell'inquinamento, dello sperpero energetico quanto della solitudine del vivere in metropoli sovraffollate, allora occorrerà rivolgere il proprio sguardo critico verso un ambito ed un contesto che nel volgere di pochi anni saprà imporsi come riferimento.

MARCO CASAMONTI Founding member of the studio Archea, he graduated with top votes in 1990 from the University of Florence; in 1994 he completed his Ph.D. at the architecture faculty of Genoa, with a thesis titled “History and Architectural Design, a central issue in the architectural debate of the postwar years”. After teaching experiences at the Faculties of Florence and Parma, he was appointed permanent professor in architectural design and town planning at the Architecture Faculty of Genoa in 2001. He is visiting professor and critic at the most important foreign university institutions as those of Barcelona, Graz, Mendrisio and Zurich. He conducts an intense work of in-depth research and critical reflection on the subject of architecture by publishing treatises and writings and holding conferences and lectures. He was appointed chief editor of the international architecture magazine Area, published by Motta Architettura, which belongs to the Gruppo 24 ORE, in 1997, and co-editor along with Paolo Portoghesi of the magazine Materia in 1999; in the same year he also became chief editor and scientific director of the architecture sector of Motta Architettura, now 24 ORE Cultura. 11

1 “新观察”（New Perspective）是我在《城市空间设计》（Urban Flux）杂志独立主持的一个建筑学术讨论栏目，每辑一个议题，四篇笔谈文章。在即将刊出的以已故建筑师冯继忠先生的何陋轩为议题的第七辑里，建筑学者董豫赣的文章里谈到几周前，在北京大学生命科学院的方案评估会上，面对校方认可的具有墨菲（Henry K. Murphy）特色的大屋顶方案，建筑师崔恺忍不住调侃道：这是否意味着我们现当代的建筑工作做得不够好，才会导致人们对美国建筑师墨菲近一个世纪前为北大确立的中国建筑式样深感怀念？据说，北大建筑学研究中心的方拥教授当场认可了崔恺的调侃：现当代建筑确实做得不够好。可见，虽然面临着超速城市化的现状，现当代建筑理念在中国还是相对边缘、非主流或不确定，或者说在中国语境里，它仍是“新锐”的。 2 《实验性建筑的转型——后实验性建筑时代的中国当代建筑》（Transformations of an Experimental Architecture: a PostAvant-Garde Era in Contemporary China）是我去年撰写的一篇长文，在文中，我对中国语境的“当代建筑”的内涵做了如下界定：如果说当年“实验建筑”的称谓是比“先锋建筑”更宽泛的概念，那么现今“当代建筑”所指，则是更为宽泛的、特指具有“当代性”或“批判地参与”的探索群体。它们已经是媒体时代的主流建筑/艺术，既保持着对现实锐利的审视，也是时代的空间/视觉的最有力的表达者。在这里，“当代建筑”并非对“实验建筑”的进一步泛化，而是还实验建筑以本来面目，并将更多具有相同特质的设计趋向予以归并，在全球化语境中予以审视的方式。就像当代艺术之于主流艺术和传统艺术，当代建筑也并不仅仅是界定时间的概念，它首先指一种直面现实、应对现实的观念和态度。其次，当代建筑无需对抗实验建筑时代无所不在的强大的“坚实”体制和国家主义设计模式，但却被迫融入更为复杂的、体制与市场机制混合的现实。当代建筑仍然具有批判性，这种批 12

In the seventh episode to be published with He Louxuan, the topic of the late architect Mr. Feng Jizhong, is discussed by the architectural scholar Dong Yugan. Yugan's article which was the topic during a recent program evaluation meeting at the School of Life Sciences, Peking University. The face of the big roof program with Henry K. Murphy features approved by the school, the architect Cui Kai could not help scoffing: Does this mean that our work of contemporary architecture is not good enough, so the Chinese architectural style defined by U.S. architect Murphy nearly a century ago for Peking University is deeply established in memory of the Chinese people? It is said that Graduate Center of Architecture, Peking University Professor Fang Yong confirmed Cui Kai’s ridicule on the spot that the modern and contemporary architecture is indeed not good enough. It is recognizable that faced with the status of speeding urbanization that modern and contemporary architectural concepts are still relatively marginal in China. The nonmainstream, uncertain, or in the Chinese context, it is still considered "cutting-edge". 2 "Transformations of an Experimental Architecture: a PostAvant-Garde Era in Contemporary China" is a long article I wrote last year. In the paper, I define the contents of "contemporary architecture" in the Chinese context as follows: If the title "Experimental Architecture" is a concept broader than "avant-garde architecture", then the current "contemporary architecture" refers to bigger, especially "contemporary" or "critically participating" exploration groups. They have been the mainstream architecture and art in the media era, maintaining a sharp look at the reality of the times, and how to best represent the space and vision of the era. "Contemporary architecture" is not a further generalization of "experimental architecture", but gives experimental architecture its original feature, and merges more designs with the same characteristics, and examines the context of globalization. Contemporary art is compared to mainstream art and traditional art, but contemporary architecture is not solely defined by the concept of time. It also primarily refers to a concept and attitude to face and deal with the reality. Second, the contemporary architecture needs not confront ubiquitous, strong, structure and design pattern of nationalism in the experimental architecture era, but is forced into a more

判性虽然更多是作为生存策略的姿态或表演，但也有将实验建筑时代的话语的批判性转化为建构的批判性的新的可能。第三，由于超速城市化现实的催生，当代建筑已经割舍了实验建筑时代的“自闭式”空间实验的边缘化套路，转而在主流平台进行具有国际视野的设计语言演练。这种探索可能依然是有关空间的、本土语言的和城市的，也有可能是有关科技和环境的，或仅仅是“造型”/表皮的。 3 2006年12月28日，在清华大学建筑学院王泽生报告厅，我主持了一场名为“‘海外军团’——国外著名事务所的中国建筑师”的对话活动，这是《domus国际中文版》组织的一个活动。当时这本杂志刚刚编辑出版了《domus＋78中国建筑设计师/设计师》，书中不仅收录了众多已经“功名成就”的建筑师，也有新近才在时尚媒体频频显身的新一代设计师，但是我觉得有一批建筑师被忽略了，这就是众多在国外著名建筑师事务所工作或工作过的中国建筑师。他们的理想主义追求、传奇经历和现实状态，都是我深感兴趣的，同时，我也对他们的未来充满期待。这次对话活动，就是这些有着特殊经历的中国建筑师的“首次”汇聚和公开交流。参加这次对话的，就有当时尚在斯蒂文·霍尔（Steven Holl）事务所工作的董功。记得在那次对话中，他是最为坦诚的建筑师之一，他说当时促动他出国留学的强烈动力，是很想去看一看那些优秀的建筑是怎么做出来的。他先后在理查德·迈耶（Richard Meier）事务所和斯蒂文·霍尔事务所工作过，对自己在这些事务所中的作用，董功阐述得非常清晰：“在很多情况下，建筑师发现问题的能力是灵感来源的基础……作为事务所内的中国建筑师，我想重要的价值之一就在于怎样利用我们对于中国文化和当时当地的切身体会，帮助斯蒂文更准确地了解中国，了解中国的一个城市，了解城市中的人和生活，从而发现真正需要解决的问题。这不是简单陈述的工作，而是在设计过程中不断交流的过程。”同时，他也很清楚自己未来的走向：“我想我们这批建筑师中的很多人，最终还是会希望能够有自己的事业。从我个人来讲，我在这几个事务所工作的过程，可以说在很大程度上是一个学习的过程，是为最终目标积累的过程。”在这之后不久，董功就离开斯蒂文·霍尔事务所，与也在上述对话活动中出现的徐千禾（曾工作于埃森曼（Peter Eisenman）事务所和贝聿铭、考伯、弗里德事务所等）创立了直向建筑（2008年成立于北京）。显然，这些经验被带到了直向建筑，这时他已不再满足于对营造品质和本土文化已有关注，而更多关注现实的“问题”。直向建筑的设计理念是：“‘建筑设计’需要直率地面对各种‘

Contemporary architecture is still critical, which is an attitude or performance as a survival strategy, but there is also a new possibility to translate critical discourse of the experimental architecture era into a critique of the architecture. Third, due to the reality of speeding urbanization, contemporary architecture has let go of "self closed" space experiment marginalization routine of the experimental architecture times, and turned to design language training with the international perspective on the mainstream platform. This exploration may either be related to space, the local language and cities, or related to the technology and the environment, or simply the "model" / superficial. 3 On December 28, 2006, at Tsinghua University School of Architecture Wang Zesheng Lecture Hall, I hosted a dialog entitled "Legion of “Sandwich” - Chinese architects from famous international architecture practices", which is an event organized by domus China. At that time the magazine has just edited and published the "domus +78 Chinese architect / designer". The book not only contains many “successful” architects, but also a new generation of designers frequently appearing in the fashion media. Unfortunately, I think a number of architects were ignored. They are the Chinese architects working, or who have worked in the many well-known architectural firms overseas. I am deeply interested in their pursuit of idealism, legendary stories and real experiences, and at the same time I am also looking forward to their future. The dialogue was the first official time together with open communication with Chinese architects about their special experiences. Participating in this dialogue was Dong Gong, who was then working in the Steven Holl firm. I remembered in that conversation that he was one of the most honest architects, and that he said his strong motivation to study abroad was to see how good architecture was made. He also worked in the Richard Meier firm as well. When it comes to his role in these firms, Dong Gong explained clearly: "In many cases, architect's ability to find the problem is the source of inspiration ... ... as a Chinese architect in the firm, I think one important value is to utilize our personal experience of Chinese culture, then and there, to help Steven Holl to better understand China, a Chinese city, and urban life and to discover the real problem to be solved. This is not a simple statement of work, but continuous exchange in the design process.” Meanwhile, he is also very clear about the future: "I think many of our architects will eventually want to have our own business. For me personally, my work experience at these firms can be said to a large extent, a learning process with accumulation for the ultimate goal.” Shortly after this, Dong Gong left Steven Hall, and established Vector Architects (established in 2008 in Beijing) with Xu Qianhe who also participated in the dialog (worked in Peter Eisenman, Pei Cobb Freed & Partners). These experiences clearly informed Vector Architects, because when he was no longer just satisfied with the quality of the 13

问题’，并以专业观点提出完整的方案，若仅仅只是设计师的主观表达或某种风格的追求，将无法真实地面对环境，并失去设计应有的社会价值。每一次的设计过程都是一次从发现问题到解决问题的过程。”他的“与记忆相遇”项目（华润置地合肥东大街售楼中心），试图积极对应城市与社会空间的历史性剧变，实验空间的表达与破解之道。近年来，这些曾就职于国际著名建筑事务所的中国建筑师渐渐羽翼丰满、另立门户，厚积薄发的功力，使他们在当代中国建筑设计界异军突起，此次董功获得一等奖，就是一个证明。 4 相对于刚刚另起门户的董功，以柳亦春为代表的大舍建筑（2001年成立于上海）的三位建筑师团队（还有庄慎、陈屹峰）应该算是“老先锋”了。在《实验性建筑的转型》一文中，我把包括大舍建筑等在内的“持守独立的现代设计语言和营造品质”的建筑师的作品称为“场所语境的建筑”。在文中，我引用了他们的建筑观：“这是一个瞬息万变的时代，我们必须了解这个世界每天的变化并迅速做出判断，但我们不必好高骛远，因为我们已经知道有些东西是一直不变的…… 我们意识到在这一领域的大多数知识都是外来的，而今天我们又必须根据现有的条件来做设计，这意味着我们最终的设计应是属于本土的，但同时也意味着我们最终也必须以超越本土为目标。” 与老一代本土建筑师的“在实践中成长”和新一代“海归”建筑师的国际视野不同，大舍建筑持守着他们的本土语境的现代主义理念，理性而人文，自信而淡定。获特别奖的吴钢统领的维思平建筑（1996年成立于慕尼黑），是一个比大舍建筑的历史还要久远的、德国“血统”的、中国建筑师为主体事务所。与董功的直向建筑和柳亦春的大舍建筑鲜明的社会与文化诉求不同，维思平建筑多年来除了专注于品质，似乎没有多少深度实验，但是也正是这种的对设计品质的持守，在超速城市化的中国具有了某种“新锐性”。有意思的是，维思平建筑近年来的作品在固有的“好趣味”的基础上，渐有吸纳本土文化元素而做深度实验的趋向，这使它与像大舍建筑这样的事务所之间的文化姿态日趋接近。还是在那篇文章中，我指出：“场所语境的建筑是中国当代建筑的主流，是过于亢奋的城市现实的‘镇静剂’，也是真正的实验/先锋建筑产生的土壤。” 5与四至十名获奖者中屡见的“国际式”非线性设计不同，三等奖的获奖者王振飞的具有个性化和实操性的参数化设计，令人耳目一新。“我并不想为参数化堆砌虚幻的泡沫，亦不准备给这个‘洪水猛兽’套上枷锁，我们只想对这一个以解 14

The design concept of Vector Architects is: "'Architectural Design' needs to frankly face all kinds of 'problems', and put forward a complete program from a professional point of view, merely the subjective expression of the designer or the pursuit of a style will not truly face the environment, and lose the desired social value of design. Every time, the design process is a process to discover and solve the problem. " His "encounter memory" project (China Resources Land Hefei East Avenue sales center) tries to actively correspond with the historic and drastic changes of the city, its social space, and the experiment of expression and breakthrough of space. In recent years, these Chinese architects who once worked in internationally renowned architectural firms have steadily grown and opened their own firms with profound success. The emergence of the contemporary Chinese architectural design circle is exemplified by Dong Gong’s winning of the first prize in competition. 4 Compared to Dong Gong who has just started his own business, Deshaus, an architectural firm founded in 2001 by Liu Yichun, Zhuang Shen and Chen Yifeng, should be considered "old pioneers". In the article titled "Experimental Architecture in Transition", I cited the architects' work which has "upheld an independent modern design language and building quality", including Deshaus, as "building in site context." In the article, I quoted their view of building: "This is a fast-changing era, we must understand the changes in the world every day and make judgments quickly, but we do not aim too high, because we already know some things have been unchanged ... ... We are aware that most of the knowledge in this area are from outside, and today we must design based on the existing conditions, which means that our final design should belong to the local community, but also means that we ultimately have to go beyond the local community." Differing from the old generation of local architects’ goals of "growth in practice", a new generation of "returnees" architects with international perspective, Deshaus have expressed their local context with a modernist philosophy that is rational and humanistic with confidence and calm. Special award winner WSP Architects, established in 1996 in Munich, led by Wu Gang is a firm with a longer history than Deshaus, that contains Germans and Chinese architects as the main body. Dong Gong’s Vector Architects and Liu Yichun Deshaus differ in social and cultural aspirations from WSP Architects which has focused on quality for years but not much depth of experimentation. It is precisely this continued adherence to the design quality that represents a kind of "cutting-edge nature" in speeding urbanization in China. Interestingly, WSP Architects in recent years has on the "good taste" basis, and has gradually absorbed the local cultural elements into the depth experiment, which places it closer to firms such as Deshaus in cultural attitude. In that article, I pointed out: "the construction site context is the

Graduated from the Berlage Institute, Wang Zhenfei's works include compelling, variable geometry-based building surface design (such as the Tianjin Binhai Yujiabao project command center, Shanghai E-Arts Festival device), magical and structure formation process-based three-dimensional surfaces interior and landscape design (such as Shanghai "Double Infinite Exhibition" exhibition design). In other words, he has utilized his own unique insight of parametric design, and made an experience different from the popular domestic model. "Do not consider building so serious, do not give much significance, I would like to do fun building." it can be said that among contemporary architects in China, Wang Zhenfei represents a new generation. They are no longer shouldering the mission of social and cultural responsibility, no longer indulged in the fantasy performance of formalism, but rather focus on the form technical experiment itself. In the participating "cuttingedge" architects, Wang Zhenfei and his Huahui Design Beijing branch, founded in Beijing in 2008, is a dark horse whose development is worth expectation. Fortunately, AS firm, organizing the exhibition for the first time, has collected a wide range of artworks with no restriction to the architectural age, qualifications or industry reputation, resulting in submissions of over 100 works. There were 11 participating architects presented with awards, including the four major award-winning architects discussed above. These award-winning architects are indeed the backbone and new blood of the contemporary architecture in China, and the overall prestige only enforces the mixed and dramatic changes of the reality in China.

2010 CA'ASI Chinese New Architectural Exhibition Works Collection Competition Results Unveiled The Twelfth Venice Biennale of Architecture, with "people meet in architecture" as the theme, is undoubtedly the best chance for presenting to the western world the not-well-known works of young Chinese architects. Specifically for this purpose, French AS Architecture Studio set up CA'ASI Architecture Arts Association. Its CA'ASI Art Gallery located in new Santa Maria Square in Venice hosted the 2010 CA'ASI Chinese New Architectural Exhibition, providing a platform for the exchange and dialogue between the eastern and western architects. This exhibition works solicitation has aroused wide attention from Chinese architects around the world, and received the works of more than 150 young and middle-aged architects and students majoring in building profession in Mainland China, Hong Kong, the United States, UK, France, Australia and other countries and regions. All works of candidates are to be included into the official works catalog of this exhibition. After the strict and intense four-round appraisal in Paris, the international judging panel appraised excellent works from a total of 11 Chinese architects and students around the world. Their works cover the thought on several issues in the current architecture field. These works are to be exhibited in Venice CA'ASI Art Gallery from September 25 to November 21, 2010. 沈梦岑 1984年2月，江苏省无锡市上海港普泰建筑设计机构，助理建筑师教育背景： 2002年9月-2006年7月中国美术学院综合艺术系文学学士 2007年9月-2010年7月上海大学数码艺术学院文学硕士设计理念：艺术、哲思与建筑在我的意识中是从未分割的整体，尽管当下建筑尤其是中国建筑如此呈现并且诚恳、严谨地思考这个问题的甚少。这并不是说，艺术性与哲学观点不在建筑师的意识范围之内，而是指：真正知道如何运用艺术、溶入哲思，而不仅仅肤浅地冠之予艺术与哲学之名的建筑鲜有甚至很难出现。我的作品的艺术性在于：情态，以及感知力。而作品的哲思，尽管不那么容易辨别，包含两个层次：一，作品从观念出发，是原初思想经过逻辑思维梳理后进行的自我辩证的表达；二，语言表达的方式或者说语法以现象学为背景和依据（更倾向于感知现象学），在多数建筑简单地借助夸张、隐喻等修辞赋建筑予意义时，愿意并不轻松地用还原现象以接近真实的方式给语言世界的表达予新的秩序。最后，综合起来，建筑若离开了艺术与哲学思考的维度，便不能真正于内在上走得太远。或者让艺术与哲学变成建筑的一种自觉，是一个美妙的理想。也许有一天，我们不再需要刻意追求建筑的艺术性与哲思性，因为此时艺术与哲思已无处不在！

It doesn’t mean that artistry and philosophical points are not involved in the mind of architects, but means that the constructions who really know how to apply art and integrate philosophy into architecture rather than entitle themselves ‘art’ or ‘philosophy’ superficially are rare even difficult to appear. The artistries in my work lie in sentiments and perceptions. And the philosophy, though not so easy to realize, includes two sides. The first is that the work is inspired from a conception, and it is a dialectical self-expression whose idea has been ordered by logic. Secondly, the modality of language expression is based on the theories of phenomenology (more inclined to phenomenology of perception). In contrast to most buildings give themselves meanings simply by means of rhetoric such as exaggeration and metaphor, this work intend to return phenomena to reality so as to renew the order of language expression despite hardships of this mission. To sum up, if departed from the realm of art and philosophical thought, architecture cannot go forward intrinsically. Maybe it is a fascinating dream that art and philosophy evolve as the self-conscious of architecture. Probably one day, we should not look for architectural artistry and philosophy purposely, because at that time art and philosophy are everywhere around architecture. 63

Cellular automat talks about the influenced relationship amongst neighbors. The generative mode from cellular automata can organize the structure and space of linear material. From the experiment of linear material piano wire, I use benders to weave this material. Horizontal benders make piano wire go horizontally, and vertical benders make piano wire go vertically. The distribution controlled by the benders make weaved piano wire grow and develop in order. Besides I create different prototypes by changing the parameters of the arrangement of original distribution of cellular automat cells, the definition of rules, and the adjustment of elasticity of piano wire. These prototypes can create different grow and organization types according to the site, environment, and people influence. For example, in the reconstruction of fukiju fish market, I create a special space for workers, dealers and tourists based on the investigation of the distribution and shape of the original buildings, the function of the site, the organization and development of the system. So I create different prototypes and spaces for people living and passing there by the weaving system of the linear material controlled by parametrical system cellular automata.
