FRIESENHAHN CAVE RESEARCH CENTER AND LAB STEPHANIE MAHON
The approach of my design was to emulate the experience from inside the cave through lighting and material use. With the use of linear skylights, those visiting the site will experience the light emitting from above as if they were within the cave. To mimic the surroundings of a cave, i s the incorporation of various stone wall finishes internally and externally. Directionally, the design of the Research Center and L ab leads visitors towards the cave. With the incorporation of roof slopes, linear skylights, and pathways visitors are encouraged to travel towards Friesenhahn Cave.
