CASE STUDY BRIEF As we continue to live with the pandemic for more than two years it might be accurate to say that “home” has taken on a new role. We are all less free to go now –and if you can’t go out, can you come home either? For the time being, home is no longer a personal matter, no longer a place of privacy – or at least not primarily. Our homes have been shifted into the public. With millions of people stuck in their homes, lockdown has changed the meaning and the experien- ce of “home”. We’re staying inside, so that outside can become safe again, waiting it out until the day we can truly return, the day we can really come home. As sustainability in every context of the design should be considered, the architects should even think about the building typology of the single family building itself. Additionally new materials and new techniques in house construction should provide the base for the houses. But instead of rebuilding existing structures we want to encourage designers to rethink already established and common building practices. Sometimes the review of present ideas is improvement as well. „The house must be capable of duplication and in no sense be an individual performance. Looking for innovative ideas, deviating from traditions and norms and additionally thoughtful improvements and changes to architectural features from prior eras that nowadays will enrich our post pandemic living. Globalization and connection as well as the opposite of that should be taken into account.
