THE PLUG n’ PLAY BUNGALOW Hannah Bruns Lyceum 2020: Belt Tightening - Bungalows for the Millennial Family Faculty Advisor: Terry Boling
In order for housing to be efficient, it needs to be able to adapt as our lives and generations change and to any individual or family. Therefore, I am pushing towards the existing Chicago Bungalow to turn towards a Plug n’ Play Bungalow. Housing plans are always changing and people are using housing for different purposes. A plug-in system will allow one to change their house to accommodate their needs and priorities. The plug-ins will come via flat pack and be able to assemble by yourself with all of the materials on site by hinging together. Depending on the plug-ins chosen, this system has the opportunity to create higher density in some cases and other options will be able to create equity and entrepreneurship. So, choose your plug-ins and play around with what is best for you.

A NEW LOOK AT THE CHICAGO BUNGALOW By allowing the Plug n’ System, it allows people to design according to their people, priorities, and the time allotted at their bungalow. This allows for growth and change within their home and community.
There is not one universal design that will meet each and everyone’s needs in a home... that is where the plug n’ play method comes into play.
