The new Arden Teen Company provides fundamental acting and theatre classes to our middle and high school students looking for more in-depth training. All classes are taught by professional theatre artists who specialize in teaching kids in middle and high school. Teen Company classes include more specialized areas for students looking for beginning professional theatre training. Have kids in Kindergarten - 5th grade? Arden Kids’ Crew is a program designed just for them. Check out our theatre class and camp offerings for younger kids on the reverse of this brochure.

Arden Theatre Company has expanded its offerings of theatre classes to include classes for elementary, middle and high school students. Stop by on October 25 and take mini-classes in Improv, Acting, Costume Design and Technical Theatre, meet our Drama School teaching artists and learn all about our 2008/09 productions. Receive an exclusive backstage tour and enjoy light refreshments. Acting Mondays or Tuesdays after school for six weeks $120 per semester FALL SEMESTER: (Tuesdays) Oct 21, 28 and Nov 4, 11, 18, 25 WINTER SEMESTER: (Mondays) Jan 5, 12, 19, 26 and Feb 2, 9 SPRING SEMESTER*: (Mondays) Apr 6, 13, 20, 27, May 4, 11 • Tuesdays, 4pm – 6pm for students in 6th – 8th grade • Tuesdays, 6pm – 8pm for students in 9th – 12th grade * Please note Spring Semester Acting is only offered from 4pm – 6pm for students in 6th – 8th grades.
This six week session will cover fundamentals of acting and developing skills needed to perform dramatic texts. Students will learn how to use their voice, body and imagination to use a variety of tactics to overcome obstacles, reach objectives, and develop characters in preparation for one day performing a script. Theatre terminology will be covered.

This six week session will concentrate on communicating a story through singing. Exercises will be group based and develop skills needed for solo performances.

FOUR WEEK SATURDAY CLASSES FALL SEMESTER:
Costume Design for students in 6th – 12th grade Saturdays, 10am – 12pm October 11, 18, 25 November 1 $80 This four week session introduces students to the fundamentals of costume design, specifically how to create a design for a particular character, how to create a costume rendering, and how to conduct a design presentation.
Technical Theatre for students in 6th – 12th grade Saturdays, 1pm – 3pm October 11, 18, 25 November 1 $80 This four week session introduces students to the fundamentals of technical theatre, including a backstage tour of both our theatres and an introduction to light and sound design.
ONE DAY WORKSHOPS for students in 6th – 12th grade Saturdays, 1pm - 4pm $30 a class FALL SEMESTER:
Shakespeare November 8 Learn about the Bard and work on scenes from A Midsummer Night’s Dream and As You Like It.

WINTER SEMESTER:
Performing a Song January 17 Come brush up your favorite musical solo in preparation for your musical auditions this school year. A musical theatre pro and a professional accompanist will work through your song and give you tips and advice on how to make it a sure-fire hit.

ONE DAY WORKSHOPS
Nail that audition this year. Whether teens are hoping to get a role in the school play or musical or on the professional stage, this class will give them all the pointers, tips and concrete feedback they need to improve their chances.
February 28 Learn a song and dance from a Broadway musical!
Improv April 18 You’ll use your imagination and teamwork to create characters, skits, and stories. Hilarious and active.

An action packed theatre camp taught by theatre professionals with all the care we give to our full scale productions. Teens will spend the week taking acting and design classes, all while creating a theatre piece of their very own. Each group of campers, guided by their teachers, will create a world-premiere production that they present of Friday afternoon!

TEEN COMPANY MUSICAL THEATRE CAMP for students in 6th – 12th grade July 13 – July 31 (three weeks!) Monday – Friday 9 am – 3pm $800 Two of Philly’s finest musical theatre pros will teach kids how to sing, act, and dance, and they’ll teach them how to do it all at once! Kids will have a ball with award-winning instructors as they learn how to interpret a song, read music, sing harmony, and present a song. They will learn group numbers that focus on collaboration, choreography, and harmony. Campers will work with a piano accompanist in every class. At the end of the camp, parents, friends, and family will be invited to share a musical revue starring their campers!
