WHAT IS A GRANFALLOON? The word “granfalloon” is a fictional term coined by Kurt Vonnegut to describe a loose affiliation of people who come together for no particular reason. The Arden’s very first show back in 1988 was an adaptation of Vonnegut’s Who Am I This Time? and we thought it was a really fun word and sounded like a party!

The Arden’s Granfalloon brings together a group of people who are united by a powerful belief in Arden’s commitment to telling great stories onstage and in the classroom. It is a night to celebrate our community, honor our friends and supporters, and raise much-needed funds to support our plays and programs.

WHAT IS SPECIAL ABOUT THE 2016 GRANFALLOON? We are thrilled to honor Joanne Harmelin, founder and CEO of Harmelin Media, at the 2016 Granfalloon.

Since her first introduction to the Arden in 1993, Joanne has been a treasured part of our family. Through the investment of her precious time and energy as a member of our Board of Directors, and her ongoing generous support, Joanne has had an incredible impact on the work we do. She shared her knowledge about the impact of media on the arts and connected us to the Philadelphia media community. A stalwart champion of the Arden, Joanne is also an extraordinary patron and benefactor of the Greater Philadelphia theatre community.
