A Note From Joilet Harris LOVE: the thing that awakens the soul; that makes us reach for more; that plants the fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. That’s what I hope to give you…forever. -The Notebook. LOVE…we all want it. We all need it. To live, to thrive. It’s the first feeling we’re supposed to experience. Made from love, we are…supposed to be. To love and to be loved in return – the ultimate exchange. A never-ending longing for, searching for….love. So necessary for our existence. Having it is as essential as breathing. We sing about it, write about it, talk about it, rap about it, preach about it, pray for it. We operate out of it. LOVE…reaches outside of external circumstances: race, creed, color, religion, physical appearance, sexual preference, geographic distances. LOVE…maternal, paternal, familial. Eros, storge, philia, agape! Platonic, sentimental, ludus, pragma, philautia. In love… for love… with love. LOVE…Thank you. Please? Okay. I ‘m sorry. I forgive you. May I help you? 18 hours of labor and delivery…ooooh, now that’s love. LOVE…If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. And now these three remain: Faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is… LOVE! 1 Corintians 13: 1, 4-8, 13. From me to you – with LOVE! Joilet

Continue the Conversation! Today, you are participating in a unique and intimate conversation between an artist and his audience. Our Cabaret Series gives artists the opportunity to perform, develop and present work that is important to them, and invites you into that work. This collaboration is only possible through the support of our generous donors. Only 60% of our costs – for things like supporting the work of Philadelphia artists like Jeff Coon, commissioning the next great new play, designing our costumes and props, even keeping the lights on – are covered by ticket sales. For the rest, we rely on you. Please help us keep the conversation going, and make future cabarets possible, by making a tax-deductible gift to the Arden’s annual fund. Remember, gifts received by December 31 are eligible to count as a deduction on your 2015 taxes. Donate online at www.ardentheatre.org/support.
