Happy New Year! I see you, more and more …you young vegan-activists; and, my heart rejoices; for, you are, today, continuing the momentum of non-violence, into tomorrow’s “starburst of joy.” Seeing you: “out there” & “standing up” for innocent animals, putting smiles in their hearts …it brings me joy. You are a strong component, for: peace, in this world.

The real vegan path is not outside you, in the way that garden-soil is …outside you. The vegan path is in you, as an attitude …you find it, with your wise thoughts & feelings. The inner vegan path, is also, universal …it is available to all; therefore, when you discover it, your daily actions will become inspiring to others, and they will discover, that the beautiful path of compassion, …is in them, too. Animals are “here” for their own reasons; and, no one has the right to take that from them. A pig, is a cow, is a chicken, is a cat, is a dog, is a human, is an angel. Let’s love all, equally. I am glad, for all that your veganbravery, achieves.

Bright & warm, Nancy & Arwen.

Dear Reader

If you wrote a book, what would you name the main character and where would he go?

If you could eat lunch with (insert favorite character’s name) where would you go and what would you eat together?

If the story of YOU became a movie, how would the movie end?

If all your clothes could only be one color, what color would you choose?

What do you know how to do that you can teach others?

Some common “old sayings,” that are passed down in our lives, may seem non-offensive; but, they carry meaning, that sends mixed messages, to others, about the connection, between humans and animals, that can normalize cruelty.

Every time you hear one of these idioms, see if you can come up with an alternative.

Meet Greta Thunberg Greta is a 15-year-old girl, from Sweden, who spoke out about “climate justice,” at a recent climate-change conference, where she addressed world leaders. She spoke clearly and softly; but, her words were inspiring and powerful. Greta is a brave young Girl, with a purpose and a message. ____________ Greta’s quotes: “I’ve learned, that you are never too small, to make a difference.” "You have ignored us in the past, and you will ignore us again.” "You say you love your children above all else, and yet you are stealing their future, in front of their very eyes.” "You only talk about moving forward with the same bad ideas that got us into this mess, even when the only sensible thing to do is pull the emergency brake. You are not mature enough to tell it like it is.“ “The sufferings of the many… pay for the luxuries of the few.” “We’re here to tell you, a change is coming, whether you like it or not.”

Did you know… • With the exception of the Sahara Desert and Antarctica, doves can be found everywhere in the world. • The smaller species are called doves while the larger species are called pigeons. • They mostly eat seeds and fruit. • Doves drink a lot of water because they need to digest the massive amounts of seeds that they eat. • Doves have a variety of songs and calls which they use to signal danger, defend territories and find potential mates. • Dove chicks are fed by the parents. Both male and female doves produce crop milk to feed their young. • Young doves are called “squabs.” • When they grab seeds off the ground, they are not necessarily eating them. Instead, they are stockpiling for digesting later. • When they sleep, their head rests between their shoulders, close to the body. • A female will select a location to build a nest such as a tangle of vines, clump of cactus or a tree limb. She then builds a nest out of sticks that the male bird will bring to her.

How You Can Get Started …In Activism Are you ready to be a Vegan-Activist? If you’re wondering, how you can get started, here are some suggestions: At Home-- Get permission to prepare a vegan meal, for your family. Perhaps, they would enjoy participating in the preparation, with you. When visiting with relatives or friends, prepare a vegan dish, to share with them. At School-- 1. Choose a vegan topic (animal rights; health; climate change; etc.), for school projects {writing essays; poster-making; speeches; book reports; etc.}. 2. Initiate a fundraising bake-sale, for a worthwhile school benefit, and bake vegan items, as your contribution (pick up trashed aluminum cans, then sell them for money, to pay for your baking supplies) {wear rubber gloves, when handling public trash, to protect against germs; and, be aware of sharp metal edges}. 3. Request that more vegan-foods, be offered in the school cafeteria menu. 4. Start a petition, to end -or alter- school projects that involve animal cruelty (animal dissections; chick hatchings; etc. 5. Organize a vegan-themed student club, to expand awareness about diet, animal rights, environmental protection, etc. In The Public Community-- 1. Write an official “letter of protest” to any organization or company, that harms or kills animals. 2. Refuse to attend circuses, zoos, aquariums or any place that uses and exploits animals; visit a wildlife-refuge or animal sanctuary, instead. As people believe, so the world becomes. Observe the condition of the world; realize that, you are fighting for your future, …and, then, change the world’s mind …make it better. Be brave and be bold. Bless you for spreading the vegan message of love for all.

Peace.

How You Can Get Started ‌In Activism Vegan Oatmeal Cookies Yield: 12 cookies Ingredients 10.6 ounces (300 grams or about 2 large bananas) very ripe banana 2.7 ounces (75 grams or about 1/2 cup) raw cashews 1 tablespoon nutritional yeast 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon 1/8 teaspoon salt 6.7 ounces (190 grams or about 2 cups) rolled oats 2.3 ounces (65 grams or about 1/2 cup) dried fruit

Directions 1.Put the oven rack in the middle position, and preheat to 300 degrees F (150 C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. 2.Put the bananas, cashews, nutritional yeast, cinnamon and salt in a food processor or blender, and puree until smooth. 3.Measure out the rolled oats and dried fruit, and place them in a bowl. Stir in the banana mixture. 4.Use your hands to roll out balls of dough, and flatten them onto the cookie sheet. Because they contain no leavening they will not rise, so you can put them pretty close together. 5.Bake for 20-30 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned and the cookies are chewy. 6.These are best served warm, so if you have leftovers, just heat them up in the microwave for a few seconds.
