Bera Dordoni
Rewrite Your Life’s Story with Ho’Oponopono” We started writing our life’s story the moment we were born. How do you like the way yours reads so far? If you don’t like the story thus far, you’re not beholden to it—none of us are to our life history that got us where we are today. The past may be unchangeable, but the weight of it is simply baggage that gets heavier with each passing year. It’s time to rewrite our story and create the book we really want to live. Learn how to forget the “what ifs” that plague our daily thoughts, fears, and actions with Ho’oponopono, an ancient Hawaiian healing practice. Ho’oponopono shows us how to forgive and release whatever keeps us from feeling centered in love, abundance and inspiration—past fears, guilt, pain, lack, sorrow, failure and anything else that holds us from our highest good—so life can flow joyously and abundantly through us. Join Dr. Bera Dordoni as she takes you on the beautiful ho’oponopono journey to release your past and create a new, vibrant life story filled with love, happiness, prosperity, abundance and good health. Bio: Always considered a renegade, “Dr. Bera” Dordoni, N.D. fights for the underdog to get a chance to live the fullest life possible, without all the “what ifs” that plague most of us. After nearly losing her life due to a misdiagnosis from medical doctors, “Wellness Whisperer” Dordoni sought an education in naturopathic medicine and started designing individualized wellness programs for cancer patients, AIDS victims, diabetics, and MS, fibromyalgia, and rheumatoid arthritis sufferers, to name a few. Along the way she developed a Vitality Program to promote balanced wellness, founded the Wellness Warriors Project to help reduce McKinley County’s diabetes epidemic, and mastered Ho’oponopono, an ancient spirituality healing practice, to help clients eliminate their health-crushing negative baggage. She continues to serve both humans and their animal companions as a whole-life coach, nutritional counselor, lecturer, herbal formulator, organic gardener, and vegan-cooking instructor. Her groundbreaking book, I Have a Choice?!, which won praise from both CAM and allopathic physicians for its even-handed introduction to alternative and complementary medicine is still available, and her down-to-earth and oft-humorous articles on Ho’oponopono and accepting responsibility for one’s own health which have been published in numerous CAM and wellness journals, can be found in article reprints on www.drberatlc.com or www.bastis.org. Tammy Fiebelkorn The Link Between Animal Abuse & Human Violence Tammy Fiebelkorn, President of Positive Links, will discuss efforts to reduce violence against all family members, including animals. Tammy will be discussing animal abuse, cruelty and neglect often considered an isolated incident wholly separated from other forms of family violence. Today, professionals involved with victims of family violence are not surprised when they learn that often these acts are linked, and that various agencies are working with the same families. They no longer excuse animal cruelty as “boys will be boys” or “it was only a cat.” Instead, they see animal abuse as a sentinel indicator, “the tip of the iceberg,” and often the first visible sign of other family and community violence. Intentional abuse in any form should be taken seriously. Knowing that there is The Link, agencies involved in preventing family violence need to work together for a more effective, species-spanning response. Bio: Ms. Fiebelkorn is the President of eSolved, Inc., an environmental and business consulting firm. She provides project planning, economic and environmental analysis, legislative analysis, lobbying and financial management to a variety of clients across the United States. Ms. Fiebelkorn has degrees in Economics and Finance from Northeast Louisiana University as well as a Master's Degree in Environmental Economics from Colorado State University.
She is the Founder and President of Positive Links, a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the public about The Link between Animal Abuse and Human Violence and providing training to domestic violence workers, social workers, animal control officers and others about this issue. She organizes the annual New Mexico Conference on The Link between Animal Abuse and Human Violence, and represents New Mexico on the National Link Coalition. She dedicates time to legislative efforts to increase the protection of the environment and animal rights and was instrumental in the passage of ordinances in Boulder and Estes Park, CO that prohibit the exhibition of wild and exotic animals as well as legislation to create New Mexico’s Link Awareness Day. Ms. Fiebelkorn lives with her furry and feathered kids – Betty (16 year old mutt), Penelope (15 year old mutt) and Mr. T (60 year old parrot) - in Albuquerque. Tammy volunteers her time on The Link because she thinks this type of education and public outreach is the best chance we have to reduce violence in our society. She believes EVERYONE should be safe in his/her home and works to provide that safety to all members of society – regardless of the type of animal (human or other) they are!

Tom Linney
WHY ANIMALS NEED LAWYERS A common question most of us have when we become aware of the staggering number of ways in which animals are abused or exploited in our society is: How can that be legal? The fundamental problem for animals is that the law still considers them property – essentially “things” like a chair or a table. But that’s incredibly out of step with how Americans think of animals. Animals don’t have a voice in our legal system but we don’t have to sit by in silence. Come learn how the Animal Legal Defense Fund is fighting animal cruelty, changing laws to better protect animals’ lives, and how all of us can play a critical role in helping animals through the legal system. Bio: Tom Linney, as Director of the Pro Bono Program for the Animal Legal Defense Fund, Tom Linney oversees the nation’s largest pro bono network for animal protection. He collaborates with the Litigation, Legislative and Criminal Justice programs to secure pro bono counsel for cases, recruiting interested attorneys and law firms from around the country. Under Tom’s leadership, the Pro Bono Program has created successful partnerships with many of the nation’s largest and most well-respected law firms and secured more than 47,000 pro bono hours for different Animal Legal Defense Fund projects, totaling more than $15 million in legal work to help animals.
Tom is a graduate of the University of Texas School of Law, where he established an Animal Legal Defense Fund Student Chapter, successfully petitioned the school to add an animal law course and coordinated several successful projects as Animal Legal Defense Fund Student Chapter President. While Tom was in law school, he gained experience working for Texas Rio Grande Legal Aid and an animal law practitioner. He also served as legislative intern for the Texas Humane Legislation Network. Tom became the first student to receive a Baron & Budd Fellowship from UT Law to pursue animal protection work. He is currently co-host of the radio show “Animal Concerns of Texas,” has served on the boards of numerous local animal protection organizations, and as a judge at the National Animal Law Competitions. When he’s not working, Tom enjoys volunteering, playing just about any sport, and spending time with his family, which includes six rescue animals: Rhea, Athena, Hello Kitty, Captain America, Hulk, and Thor (who – if you can believe it – is actually way more handsome than Chris Hemsworth).

Paul Roybal
Variations on Risotto The demonstration will be on delicious, inexpensive, quick and easy risotto prepared in an instapot. Paul will show how easy it is to make delicious risotto using a variety of ingredients. Risotto in Italy is normally a first course , served on its own before the main course, but can also be a main course served with a variety of side dishes. It is one of the most common ways of cooking rice in Italy. The first recipe identifiable as risotto dates from 1809. There are many different risotto recipes with different ingredients, but they are all based on rice of an appropriate variety, cooked in a standard procedure. Risotto, unlike other rice dishes, requires constant care, time and attention. Anyone who has prepared risotto the old fashioned way knows that preparation requires constant attention and uncertainty on how much broth is needed; not enough and its dry and sticky mush, too much and its runny. The perfect risotto has a creamy and vegan buttery taste. Using an instapot you can prepare it in under 15 minutes start to finish with minimal attention. Bio: Paul Roybal is a lifelong resident of New Mexico, having been raised on a ranch in the northern part of the state. Paul is a relative newcomer to veganism and vegan cuisine. Although Paul has enjoyed preparing meals all his life, his recent foray into veganism has taken his culinary accomplishment to the next level. Having participated in numerous cook-offs such as the annual Albuquerque old Town salsa fiesta, Paul also recently began participating in Vegan cooking events winning second place in the vegan Mac down in Santa Fe in 2017. Paul looks forward to future opportunities to explore and demonstrate his unique style of Vegan cooking especially as it relates to the many flavors and possibilities of New Mexican cuisine.
