EDITOR'S NOTE Hi there! I am publishing this vegan magazine for the whole community, the veg curious, vegetarians, and vegans alike. The goal is to bring wakefulness to the events, people and happenings for veganism, focusing mainly on New Mexico. Our hope is that this will be useful information for everyday vegan living. Inside the New Mexico Vegan magazine you will find information on: why we should be vegan; how veganism will improve your health; how to heal the planet; but most importantly how to stop the cruel pain and suffering of the nonhumananimals. The time has come to rise to a more compassionate world. This new human revolution starts with you. Nancy Arenas

THOUGHT
REASONS WHY WE ARE VEGAN Why Vegan
Eating animal flesh (meat) is murder and cannibalism. Also, whoever eats animal products, eats poison. It is quite simple, compassionate and pragmatic to be vegan. We, human-animals,do not need to eat non-human-animals or use them in any way, shape or form. Human-animals are provided for by "mother earth" in ways that do not have to include cruelty towards non-human-animals. Human-animals have been using and abusing non-human-animals way too long. Non-human-animals have a right to live their own lives and no human-animal should ever think "everything belongs to me." Human-animals are not essentially superior to non-human-animals, and we should coexist peacefully with our non-human animal family and our planet. "Compassion for the non-human-animals" needs to be at the forefront. Stopping the "enslavement of non-human-animals," is the right thing to do. Eating non-human animals is just a bad habit we have been taught. ?
Human-animals will be healthier when they cease/stop consuming non-humananimal products and turn to a plant based diet. It is quite clear that the onset of human-animal diseases can be attributed to eating dairy and non-human animal products. There are many reports that support this. It is just a shame that the government does not highlight these facts to the general public. Environmentally, we would start healing our planet if we adopted a plant based diet. The planet will once again flourish if we "ditch" the meat (animal flesh) and other non-human animal products. I believe if you claim to be an animal lover, animal activist, spiritual/religious individual, environmentalist, or an advocate for peace, it should be a "no brainer" that being vegan is being right. Those who say, "I love animals" even though "I eat animals" embody a great contradiction. Using non-human-animals, is unbelievably cruel: Taking babies from their mothers and murdering them; raping mothers; abusing sentient beings; it is just perplexing and we simply have to say “No More.” Say it with me, "NO MORE!" Lastly, indulge yourself in some vegan food. VEGAN FOOD tastes GREAT! The food is ‘freaking good’! Everyday, new vegan/plant based products are hitting the markets and new vegan restaurants are emerging. There are bountiful recipes: on the net; in vegan cookbooks at your local library; and for sale wherever books are sold. There is a vegan substitute for each/every non-human-animal product. Join others in compassion, healthier living, and healing the planet by not murdering non-humananimals. Be and Stay Vegan!

GREEN VEGFEST A LBUQUERQUE 2016
Albuquerque will host New Mexico's inaugural vegan “Red and Green VegFest.” The ‘Eat Without Violence’- themed event debuts Saturday, April 23rd, 2016. The inaugural “Red and Green VegFest Albuquerque” will be held Saturday, April 23rd, 2016, to raise awareness for the socially conscious vegan lifestyle. At the Red and Green VegFest Albuquerque 2016 you will find: international speakers; exercise classes; cooking demos; food tastings; movies; and product booths. You can explore toxin free “do-no-harm” foods, that foster compassion for non-human-animals, and advocates for healing the planet. Organizer Nancy Arenas created the event to motivate others to investigate healthier, planetfriendly lifestyle choices. “Our theme is ‘Eat Without Violence,’” stated Ms. Arenas, “and with public interest in a vegan diet higher than ever, we hope that this first-of-its-kind event, in Albuquerque, will be both informative and inspirational.” Tickets are now on sale. ETHICS
VEGANISM Veganism is an attitude and a way of life that rejects the exploitation
of and harm to animals (human and nonhuman). Vegans, those who practice veganism, avoid products, services, and activities that are harmful to sentient beings (both human and nonhuman animals). Since non-human-animals cannot give consent to humananimals to use their bodies and bodily secretions for human-animal consumption or scientific testing, taking these things from them is exploitation, in the same way it would be considered exploitation if we used the bodies and bodily secretions of human-animals who did not give consent for us to do so.

CALLOUT Anthropologist Margaret Mead said, "Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has."
Please do what you can, in your own way, to further veganism with your friends, family, colleagues, communities and so forth. Get active in one way or another. We need your voices so that we can plant seeds of compassion, and help "bring the world around" to veganism.
Get together with others, post information, share information, share vegan meals, sign petitions; whatever you can do, do it! Let us all raise our voices and be heard and seen.
The majority of the world is bombarded daily, with meat and dairy ads and slogans for their products of suffering and cruelty; I urge you to be a human-animal ad for veganism, for compassion, and for healing the planet.
If not you....then who????
