Sidney Equestrian Grateful for 2020 Shelby County Junior Fair Experience Alexia Graves of Sidney said she’s so glad she and her horse Princess were a part of this year’s Shelby County Junior Fair held in July, even though COVID-19 restrictions made for a very different experience. Alexia, the daughter of Pamela and David Graves and granddaughter of Country Living sales representative Robert Watkins, was disappointed the entire fair couldn’t take place since it’s her last year of showing. Last year she competed in 10 classes, and this year only seven. “The fair just wasn’t the same,” she said. “We didn’t have our Monday work nights at the fairgrounds, but I did extra training at home.” Alexia was the Grand Champion in the Pole Bending Show, Reserve Grand Champion in the Key Hole Show, and Reserve Grand Champion in the Stakes Show. She placed second in Clover Leaf Barrels - Senior, and first in Western Pleasure - Senior. “It was quite a bit different this year,” said her grandfather, Robert Watkins. “I’ve had grandchildren showing livestock for more than 25 years at the fair, and I’m sure glad the Board was able to do this for the kids. Everything horse-related was done in one day rather than the usual four days, made possible by cutting out some of the shows,” he added. Alexia, a member of the Fairlawn FFA and Equus Unlimited 4-H Club, said she will always look back on the 2020 Shelby County Junior Fair with fond memories, and is so appreciative she was able to be a part of it, even if things were decidedly different for her last year of showing.

Frank J. Fullenkamp, 67, of Frenchtown, passed away Thursday, Aug. 27, at the Versailles Healthcare Center. Mr. Fullenkamp owned and operated Fullenkamp’s Frenchtown Trailer Sales since 1993 and formerly worked at Case in Greenville. His business has been advertising in Country Living for a number of years and he has always been a valued customer. Our staff extends our condolences to his family, friends, and employees.
