The Fort Loramie German Heritage Days Festival returns this September for its 15th Year Anniversary on September 20 and 21! We have many new and exciting things added to the schedule as well as some traditional events for this year’s line-up. We welcome, from Germany, Talback Musikanten who will be playing on both Friday and Saturday. We also have the Shelby County Traveling Museum that will be on display the entire weekend. On Saturday, in the gazebo, we will be having the Bicentennial Flag Ceremony and the Shelby County Beer Tapping Ceremony, as well as Chief Black Hoof. On Friday night, the acoustical duo known as Freelance (Steve Rosenbeck and Roger DeMange) will be performing in the gazebo as well as Talback Musikanten, who will be playing on the main stage. Rare Form will be closing out that evening’s festivities. On Saturday afternoon, in the gazebo, we welcome Jim McGowan, who is new to the festival. Saturday evening, Talback Musikanten will be on the main stage and Adam (Bubs) Ranly, who is also new this year, will be in the gazebo. Another new performance this year is Ohio Brewed, who will be closing out the festival. Along with the festive music comes the mouth-watering foods, many of them homemade! From Winner's whole hog sausage and sauerkraut, our homemade potato soup to apple dumplings and German Chocolate cake, and so much more... there is something for everyone! What is a German festival without German beer! We will have a vast selection of beers on tap for the weekend, including Hofbrau Original, Hofbrau Dunkel, Hofbrau Oktoberfest, Paulaner Hefe, Paulaner Lager, Warsteiner Dunkel, several varieties of Leinenkugel’s draughts including Oktoberfest, Berry Shandy and Harvest Patch. Also available will be Miller Lite and the Shelby 1918 Limited will be filling our 2019 commemorative pitchers. Returning this year, we will have a car show on Saturday, with registrations starting at 9 a.m. Also back is the POINT 5K, a walk around the canal park with trivia stops along the way. Saturday night, starting at 8 p.m., we will be having our Stein Hoisting Contest. The Fort Loramie Historical Museum will be open Saturday starting at 1 p.m., and historical speaker Greg Shipley will be in the Cabin. So come on out and enjoy some food, drink, and festive music. We hope to see you there!
