Letter to the Editor On behalf of the Newton Local School District, the Board of Education, the students of Newton Schools, and our community, I would like to once again thank the Covington Eagles for their recent donation of $7,000 to our school. We will use these funds for scholarships to colleges or trade schools for our graduates. Over many years, the Covington Eagles have treated us as if we are from their immediate community. They have embraced us as one of their own! We appreciate our relationship with the Covington Eagles. We hope that our community reciprocates support for the Covington Eagles and their mission within our area. The Covington Eagles have donated a significant amount of funds to our school over many years. It would be difficult to measure the positive impact it has had on our student body and recent graduates. It is safe to say that the impact has been tremendous! I am proud of our association with the Covington Eagles. Once again, thank you Covington Eagles for your continued generosity over the years. As always, your organization and what you stand for are very much appreciated by the Newton Local Schools. Sincerely, Pat McBride, Superintendent
Thank You
From Fields of Grace & Covington Eagles Fields of Grace Worship Center and the Covington Eagles would like to thank everyone who attended this year’s Community Thanksgiving Dinner on November 17. A total of 1,147 meals were served, with 357 of those being home deliveries. We would also like to thank the following for donations to the meal: Cooper Farms for all of the turkey, Mrs. Wick’s Pies, Troy Meijer’s for pies, Troy Kroger’s for pies, Troy Walmart for pies, Piqua American Legion for dinner rolls, and Kathy Wespier of K’s Catering of Versailles, who donated her labor on preparing 390 lbs. of turkey. We would also like to thank the anonymous donors for helping to make this possible. To the city of Covington for the use of one of their garbage trucks and the Covington EMS and Fire Departments for allowing us to park cars at their facility. In addition, a thank you to Coach Dean Maxson and some members of the Covington High School basketball team who donated quite a bit of their time helping. Finally, a huge thank you to the people at Fields of Grace Worship Center, all 140 of you, who took time out of their day to serve. We look forward to our next meal in 2019!
