Thank You From Fields of Grace Worship Center and Covington Eagles Fields of Grace Worship Center and the Covington Eagles would like to thank everyone who attended this year’s Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Saturday, November 23. A total of 1,269 meals were served, with 350 of those being home deliveries. We would also like to thank the following for donations to the meal: Cooper Farms for 300 lbs. of turkey; Mrs. Wick’s Pies for 56 sugar cream pies; Troy Meijer; Troy, Piqua, and Greenville Walmart and Sam’s Club for 97 pumpkin pies; Piqua American Legion Post #184 for 90 dozen dinner rolls; and Kathy Wespier of K’s Catering from Versailles, who donated her labor on preparing all of the turkey. We would also like to thank the individual donors from Fields of Grace for helping to make this possible. To the city of Covington for the use of one of their garbage trucks, the Covington Fire & Rescue Department for allowing us to park cars at their facility, and Covington schools for use of their kitchen to help with the preparation of additional food. In addition, a thank you to members of the Covington Jr. High Student Council and Accord Financial, who donated quite a bit of their time helping. Finally, a huge thank you to the people at Fields of Grace Worship Center and all of you who took time out of their day to serve. We look forward to our tenth dinner in 2020.

LIVE NATIVITY WALK Offered This Weekend At Stillwater Community Church The annual “Live Nativity Walk” presented by Stillwater Community Church is scheduled to take place this year on Friday, December 6, and Saturday, December 7. There will be six guided “walks” each night. The first “walk” starts at 6 pm, with other “walks” conducted every half hour. The last “walk” is to begin at 8:30 pm. Admission is FREE, and every one of all ages is invited. The “walks” take place on the grounds of Stillwater Community Church located at 7900 Sugar Grove Road(1/2-mile west of State Route 48), between Pleasant Hill and Covington. Each “walk” takes you back in time more than 2,000 years and tells the story of the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. You will walk to the home of Mary, follow Mary to Elizabeth’s home, and visit the carpenter shop of Joseph. You will then travel to the inn of Bethlehem, visit outdoors with the shepherds and listen as the angels announce the birth of Jesus. Finally, you will travel to the stable to see the new-born Savior! After each “walk”, you are invited to be warmed by a crackling fire; and to enjoy some hot chocolate, delicious homemade cookies, and friendly fellowship! Call 937.473.5270, e-mail pastorjon@stillwatercc.com, or visit stillwatercc.org online for more information.

The Miami County Park District will host their first season of Holiday Lights at Lost Creek Reserve presented by Bruns Realty Group. This beautiful 456-acre reserve located at 2385 E. St. Rt. 41 in Troy, will be the setting for a drive-thru holiday light tour featuring animated light displays and illuminated landscapes. The program will be held Fridays and Saturdays from 6 to 10 p.m. and Sundays from 6 to 9 p.m. starting Black Friday, Nov. 29, and going thru December 29. The one-mile driving route will include more than 50 light displays traversing picturesque farm lanes and along the edge of the woods. In addition to 30 animated light displays, various trees will be illuminated to enhance their natural beauty. The tour ends as guests emerge from the woods and view the historic homestead and barns decorated for all to enjoy as they drive through the farmyard to exit. “The Park District is very excited to provide an opportunity for the community to start a new holiday tradition close to home,” said J. Scott Myers, executive director of the Miami County Park District. Currently, the closest driving light tour is approximately 40 miles away. “Out of town visitors will hopefully make a day of it and dine and shop at our charming local businesses,” he added. Local nonprofits and service organizations will also benefit as they have the opportunity to volunteer at the event and receive a donation from the proceeds. “We are optimistic that this event will add to the economic and tourism benefit of the county.” According to Myers, the new event was a result of many factors, including the need to find an alternative to the popular Evening of Lights at Charleston Falls program which was discontinued due to its negative impact on the natural resources at the Preserve. “Lost Creek Reserve is a working farm focused on agriculture, so it was easier to reduce the impact on the land.” An additional factor was feedback received from the community requesting a multi-night event that more people could enjoy. The Holiday Lights at Lost Creek Reserve was made possible through a $75,000 Troy Foundation grant and sponsorships from Bruns Realty Group, the Miami County Convention and Visitors Bureau, Key Ads, French Oil Mill Machinery Company, VPP Industries, and Unity National Bank. Did you know? Consumers may readily recognize Black Friday and Cyber Monday in the holiday shopping lexicon. But what about Super Saturday? Super Saturday, sometimes called “Panic Saturday,” refers to the final Saturday before Christmas. This can be a big day for retailers. Super Saturday deals tend to target last-minute shoppers who wait until the very end to make the majority of their purchases or pick up those final gifts. Super Saturday 2019 occurs on December 21.
