In an historic move, the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament has been canceled over concerns of the spreading coronavirus. This is the first time the NCAA Tournament will not be held since it began in 1939.In light of that decision, our annual “Road to the Final Four” contest will not be held this year. We know our advertisers and readers look forward to this contest each spring and we regret this cancellation as much as you do. Everyone is experiencing disappointments and cancellations due to COVID-19. Of greater importance, though, are the people who face life-threatening medical issues. Please keep them in your prayers.

Bradford Church Plans Quarter Auction To Benefit Stained Glass Window Fund Greenville Creek Christian Church was the first religious society founded in the Bradford community and has been a mainstay in the area since 1843. Dedication ceremonies for the present church structure took place Sunday, March 12, 1882. The original stained glass windows are now in dire need of a complete restoration to preserve this beautiful and nostalgic part of the church. The congregation is reaching out to the public to obtain funding needed to save the windows from the ravages of time. Please consider donating a new, unused item that would be part of an upcoming Quarter Auction, or you may choose to make a monetary donation to the church. All donations will be greatly appreciated. Checks may be made payable and mailed to: Greenville Creek Christian Church 5110 N. Buckneck Rd., Bradford, Ohio 45308 The church, along with Pastor Daryl Peeples Sr., is planning fundraising events to help in this endeavor. A Quarter Auction, the first fundraising event and open to the public, will take place at the Bradford Community Club on Wednesday, April 1, from 6-9 p.m. An open invitation is extended to all to come as you are and join in Sunday church services from 10-11 a.m., as well as any upcoming fundraisers, including ice cream socials at the church on the first Thursday of June and August. Those having questions may call 937-524-3043.

West Milton Lions Blood Drive is March 25 Coronavirus Fears Put Blood Supply at Risk The West Milton Lions Club will host a community blood drive Wednesday, March 25, 1-7 p.m., in the West Milton United Church of Christ social hall, 108 S. Main St. The blood drive includes automated platelet and plasma donations. Everyone who registers to donate will get a pair of green argyle socks. Make an appointment online at www.DonorTime.com or call 937-461-3220. Community Blood Center is facing blood drive cancellations out of fear of the coronavirus outbreak and is calling on donors to help prevent a blood shortage by continuing to donate. CBC is emphasizing that the blood supply is safe, and it is safe to donate. Donors must be in good health to be eligible to donate and there are no reported cases of coronavirus transmission through blood transfusion. It is imperative for CBC to maintain collections and replenish the blood supply to its regional hospitals throughout the coronavirus health crisis. Red cells are frequently needed in surgeries and emergencies. Automated donations of platelets and plasma are critical for the treatment of cancer, trauma, transplant, and burn patients. An automated double red blood cell donation contributes two units to the blood supply. To find out if automated donations are right for you, talk to a CBC specialist at 937-461-3220.
