Community Easter Egg Hunt Announced

27,000-Plus Eggs! 40-Plus Baskets! 13 Bikes! FREE Happy Meals for a Year! Fields of Grace Worship Center will host the 9th annual Community Easter Egg Hunt Saturday, April 13, at 1 p.m. There will be 27,000-plus eggs to hunt this year, along with 40-plus baskets, 13 bikes for all ages, six free Happy Meal certificate books, and one Happy Meal per week for a year to be given away. Back by popular demand will be a baby table. Parents with children in the age group of 0-1 will hunt with their babies for all kinds of useful baby items to take home instead of candy. This year there will be 300 items from which to choose! The hunt will begin promptly at 1 p.m., so come early to get in line and register for a free bike and basket. The event is free and open to all children ages 0-11 years in all surrounding communities. Age groups will be divided for the hunt, beginning with the youngest age group first. Only one parent will be permitted to enter with their child when designated, except for the baby group, in which two parents will be allowed. Participants are asked to please bring something in which to collect their eggs. Yes, the Easter Bunny will once again be available for pictures. He will have his own area for picture availability. Bathrooms will be open this year! Please park at Finfrock Construction and surrounding streets on S. Main St. The only entry into the park on the day of the hunt will be on S. Main St. There will be no parking at the park. Transportation will be provided down to the park for those who need it. The Miami County Park District will hold an Adult Exploration Hike April 2, 9-11 a.m., at Maple Ridge Reserve, 10430 St. Rt. 185, Covington. Join park district naturalist Sassafras Susan to discover the birds, plants, and trees across the county, one park at a time. These hikes are a great opportunity to enjoy nature and learn together. If you’ve visited BNC anytime over these last few months you may have noticed a new structure being developed adjacent to our wildlife rehabilitation unit. For more than 40 years Brukner Nature Center has operated the largest licensed wildlife rehabilitation unit in the Miami Valley. With annual average intake of orphaned, injured, and sick native wildlife reaching over 1,400 patients, our staff identified a need to establish an additional facility that would offer appropriate space to isolate and/or quarantine wildlife in our care and to make caring for waterfowl more efficient. Please join us for a guided tour of BNC’s Wildlife Rehabilitation Campus on Sunday, March 31, from 2-4 p.m. Discover a day in the life of a rehabilitation organization, meet a wildlife ambassador that was once a part of the rehab program, and visit with wildlife conservation groups such as Ohio Division of Wildlife, Barnes Wildlife Control, Arrowhead Reptile Rescue, and Glen Helen Raptor Center. Tours will take place from 2-4 p.m., with groups leaving every 15 minutes. Admission to this event is the donation of an item from our wildlife wish list, found on our website and in our Gray Fox Gazette.
