Although, for the time being, you won’t be able to sit down and enjoy a meal at your favorite restaurant, most places welcome and NEED your take-out business. By patronizing them Now, you’ll make it possible for them to re-open their doors once the CoVID-19 crisis is over. Continue to have maintenance done on your vehicles, have your lawn care service keep your grass weed-free and thriving, have outdoor construction projects completed, and keep up your provisions by shopping at local places of business. By taking the precautions outlined by the government, you can safely shop. It is recommended that when replenishing your food supply, only one member of the family do the shopping. we all need to do our part in keeping our local businesses solvent and able to serve us again once this crisis has passed!

I’m free!!!
Ginger and I were released from our self-quarantine Wednesday, April 22. I have the biggest smile I’ve had for years.
$
Columnist Kevin Frisch, managing editor of the Daily Messenger in New York, offers a few ideas on how to reduce stress. He says we should challenge ourselves, break a habit, or shake up our daily schedules. 1. Find a spot in your backyard, at the park, or anywhere outside and simply stand there for five minutes observing nature. 2. Strike up a conversation with a stranger. It might just change your life. 3. Find 15 minutes to listen to music – not as background while you’re doing something else, but with your full attention. Any style of music will do. 4. Call a friend or relative you haven’t spoken with in several months, or years. This might be the best thing you’ve ever done. 5. Read a columnist whose politics you disagree with (if you’re doing that right now, thank you) or listen for a few minutes to a talk show host whose views you find repulsive. 6. Select and read a new book – or any book will work, really – at random from your local library (or borrow one from a friend, since libraries are currently locked up tight). 7. Try a food you hated as a child – just to see if your taste has changed. 8. Find a reason to compliment someone you don’t normally get along with. You might find out you have more in common than you ever thought possible. 9. Pay it forward. Do something nice for someone – and never tell him or her. 10. Hire one or several grandchildren to help you with your spring outdoor projects. Pay them well, and remember what an outside vendor would charge.
This week’s BoTTom line: Give your stress wings and let it fly away. Better yet... dance it away!

Newton’s 139th Alumni Banquet Canceled With consideration of the “Stay-at-Home” order and the safety of all our Alumni, we have made the difficult decision to cancel Newton’s 139th Annual Alumni Banquet scheduled to be held Saturday, May 9. In May 2021 we will recognize two sets of Honored Classes. We would have honored the following classes this year: 1945 (75 years), 1960 (60 years), 1970 (50 years), 1980 (40 years), and 1995 (25 years). Next May 2021 we plan to honor these classes: 1946, 1961, 1971, 1981, and 1996. We would still like to do our part to support the senior class of 2020 with two scholarships. Typically, these funds are received from the banquet dinner invitation donations. Due to the Alumni Banquet cancellation, we are reaching out for your help to sustain these scholarships. Please send your donations to: Newton Alumni Association, P.O. Box 531, Pleasant Hill, OH 45359. Thank you for your consideration.
