Ed Lendenski Memorial Blood Drive Set Sept. 9 ~ 9th Annual Tribute to West Milton Educator ~ The West Milton Lions Club will sponsor the 9th Annual Ed Lendenski Memorial Blood Drive Wednesday, Sept. 9, 1-7 p.m., at the West Milton United Church of Christ, 108 S. Main St. Donors must make an appointment at www.DonorTime.com or by calling 937-461-3220. Community Blood Center needs donors to sustain the blood supply during the Labor Day holiday week and against the challenges this fall from COVID-19. Everyone who registers to donate will receive the new “We Are All In This Together” face mask and the “It’s Time to Save A Life” T-shirt. You will also be automatically entered in the “Wake Up & Donate Blood Drive” drawing to win a custom Sleep Number bed. West Milton educator “Big Ed” Lendenski is remembered as an honored Milton-Union High School coach, athletic director, and MUHS principal for 23 years. Ed’s wife Carolyn and family began the memorial blood drive in 2012 after Ed lost his long battle with the bone marrow disorder myelodys- Carolyn lendenski going plastic syndrome. MDS patients develop severe anemia and his treatment through photos and newspaincluded many blood transfusions. The family hoped to encourage donations per clippings relating to her and to honor donors who helped extend his life. late husband, ed. The school year is beginning with many school districts opting for remote learning, with strict limits on activities, including high school blood drives. CBC asks all community members and students to help offset the loss of high school blood drives by supporting your community blood drives and donating more often. CBC is seeking COVID-19 survivors to become “Crisis Warriors” by donating their antibody-rich plasma for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. CCP donors will receive the “COVID-19 Crisis Warrior” T-shirt. Learn more and register to donate CCP at www.GivingBlood.org or call 937-461-3220.

fort rowdy OF THE PAST gatherings The Fort Rowdy Board and Committees have a special message they would like to share with the entire Stillwater Valley area. During this unprecedented time, we want you to know that the Fort Rowdy Gathering was postponed because your safety is our highest priority. We must never forget that we are all in this together. Believe us, we’re striving and working on the 2021 Gathering as you read this message. For all the collectors out there, all encampment medallions must be pre-ordered. We’re sure you’ve seen messages on social media like “I’m too ornery to get sick” and reminders that hugs and kisses should be six feet apart. Please follow the safety guidelines at work, at home, and in the community to help slow the spread of the Coronavirus.

We Will See You All in 2021 With “Big Bear Hugs” on the Way!

What’s happening at...

Bradford Public Library would like to encourage our community to take advantage of the many ways we can serve you. We opened our doors to patrons in June and our services continue to expand. As a reminder, patrons may access material in one of the following ways: 1) Come on in! We are open our regular hours. Patrons may browse our collection and check out material in a safe and sanitized environment. 2) Call and order your books. Staff will take your “order” and pull books to be checked out. Patrons have the option of picking up your material in our foyer or having your material delivered to the trunk of your car. Just let the staff know your preference when you call. Instructions will be given when you let us know your choice. 3) Order books online from our catalog, then call the library to let staff know how your choice for pick up or delivery. Just visit our web page at www.bradfordpubliclibrary.org to access our catalog. Not sure how to order? Check our video on Facebook or you tube for instructions! 4) Our deliveries with Dayton Metro and Troy-Miami County Libraries resumed in July, so feel free to order from any of our consortium members. Search Ohio and Ohio Link are back up and able to fill requests, too, if your material is not at Bradford, Troy, or Dayton. The library is taking the following measures to do our part to stop the spread… Precautions for your safety include hand sanitizer throughout the building, frequent cleaning of surfaces, and encouraging social distancing. Face coverings are required. If you don’t have a covering one will be provided. If you are not able or willing to wear a covering we are happy to provide service while you wait in the foyer or your vehicle. We still ask that we keep hours from opening to 11 a.m. for our at risk patrons. Restrooms are currently closed to the public, and patrons 13 and under must be with an adult at all times. Our book drop is still the only way to return your material. Please place items in the drop by the Main St. doors or use the book drop in the foyer. No returns can be handled by staff. As a reminder, material is kept in quarantine five days and items are given seven “Free” days on check-in. As long as your material is returned to our book drop on time you will not have fines on your account. We have computer stations available to use for teens and adults. Time limit for each session is now beginning at one hour per patron. Wi-fi is available throughout the building and outside the building. Password can be found on the doors. The Innovation Station is open for patrons by advance reservation. Please call ahead to reserve time to use the equipment. Due to social distancing, only one household may use the space at a time. Patrons may be asked to wear gloves if your visit includes using our stamp collection or equipment where sanitation could be difficult. Staff are able to make copies and send faxes with no appointment necessary. Our Library Lending Telescope is available to check out. Fall is the best time to stargaze! Telescope will need to be quarantined and sanitized before the next patron can take it home. Call ahead to reserve a specific time to check out this exciting equipment. We are still not able to hold in-person events, but encourage our patrons to watch our social media for upcoming virtual events this fall. Videos of events will be posted on Facebook or our YouTube Channel. As always, if you have questions about any of our events or services, please call 937-448-2612. Our staff members are ready to answer your questions. We look forward to serving you soon!
