Part of the Nicosia District Approximately 111 Km away from the city center Main village of Tylliria Officially composed of two villages, the larger Kato Pyrgos and the smaller Pano Pyrgos Has approximately 2000 residents
The Tilyria mountain is located in the northwestern part of the island between the gulf Polis and the gulf of Morphou. On 8 April 1964, the United Nations Force in Cyprus managed to arrange a ceasefire which was enforced by stationing UNFICYP troops at several critical points. Pyrgos is the only Cypriot village located on the Morphou Bay controlled by the Republic of Cyprus.

Administered by the internationally unrecognised Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus One of the Turkish Cypriot enclaves prior to the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974 Bordered on three sides by mountainous territory to the Greek part of the island Sits several kilometres away from the mainland of the TRNC In August of 1964 became a bombing raid by the Turkish Air Force and the enclave were used to smuggle weapons and soldiers to Cyprus from Turkey
