CELEBRATE GOOD TIMES Plenty Of Reasons To Have Fun In February

W

Your Authority On Everything Gaming VOLUME 16 • ISSUE 02 MANAGING DIRECTOR & VIDEO POKER GURU Elizabeth Torma liz@azgamingguide.com

hile February is known to be full of red roses and chocolate, beer, pizza and football, the month of February has a lot more going for it than just Valentine’s Day and the Super Bowl. Despite being the shortest month in the year, there’s plenty of reasons to celebrate all month long. And, where is there always food, fun and humongous TVs for the big game? One hint … it’s a lucky seven letter word. C-A-S-I-N-O-S! So, get those calendars out and start penciling in days for some time off! Below are just a few reasons to “celebrate good times, come on!”

PUBLISHER & SLOT GURU Chris Höft chris@azgamingguide.com

February 2 is Groundhog Day—If a groundhog emerges from its burrow on this day and sees its shadow, it will retreat to its den and winter will go on for six more weeks; if it does not see its shadow, spring will arrive early. In many cultures, these creatures are seen as harbingers of prosperity and abundance.

CONTRIBUTING WRITERS Al Moe Mark Novak TJ Jorgensen Lana Hartmann Samantha Becker

February 10 is Lunar New Year—Celebrated widely throughout East Asia, the Lunar New Year begins with the first new Moon after the Winter Solstice and is associated with the Chinese Zodiac. Make sure to wear red clothes, eat some sweet things and say lucky words on this day as these things are believed to help you attract good fortune in the new year. February 11 is Super Bowl Sunday—The Big Game, Super Bowl LVIII, will be played at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada which is the first Super Bowl to be held in that State. Did you know that Americans eat billions of wings each Super Bowl weekend and that tasty finger food is considered a ‘good luck’ food? So, if you want to help your team win, have some wings! February 13 is Mardi Gras (aka “Fat Tuesday”)—This day is the final feasting day before the Chistian tradition of Lent begins on the following day, Ash Wednesday. Buffet anyone? February 14 is Valentine’s Day—The day for lovebirds comes with some quirky superstitions. To be awoken by a kiss on Valentine’s Day is considered extremely lucky. And, eating noodles on this day can reward you with a long, happy life. But make sure you eat the whole strand without letting it break! February 19 is Presidents’ Day—A federal holiday that is celebrated on the third Monday in February. Three day weekend, enough said. February 29 is Leap Day—Happening once every four years, we are given an extra day in February and some believe this day brings particularly good luck! Have A Lucky & Fun Month!

PLAYERS TALK By Mark Novak

BET YOU DIDN’T KNOW ... Readers Keep Us On Our Toes With Some Great Trivia Questions

Q: I love playing the slots with the bingo cards on them. I seem to be more lucky playing those types of slots than the regular slots but I’m having a hard time finding them. Can you tell me what casino has the most bingo games please? Linda Kowalski—Phoenix A: Linda, the types of slot machines that have bingo cards on them you refer to fall under the category of Class II games. These gaming devices use a central electronic bingo system to generate results on a group of games as opposed to Class III slots that rely on random number generators programmed within each individual game. You are right that Class II slots can be extremely entertaining and rewarding! The casino in Arizona that offers the most Class II gaming devices is Cocopah Casino in Yuma, Arizona with 109 total units. Q: I’ve noticed that more and more floor space is being dedicated to table games and less to slots. Just curious, what casino has the most blackjack tables? Gordon Davis—Gilbert A: Gordon, I can guarantee you that there will never be more floor space dedicated to table games over slot machines. Slots are by far the biggest moneymaker for casinos, generating anywhere from 60% to 80% of the total casino gaming revenue. The table games generate only slightly more revenue than sports betting currently, with an average of about 12% each. The award goes to Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona with the most blackjack tables at 46 tables! But then again, their casino is also one of the largest casinos in the state with over 1,400 slot machines as well! Q: I miss being able to play live keno and I’m not interested in slot machine keno. Will the casinos ever bring that back? David Rollins—Tucson A: David, it’s time to pack your bags and plan a trip to Casino Arizona in Scottsdale as they have live draw keno and they are

the only ones who currently offer this in the State. Rumor has it that live draw will be available at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale soon, so we will keep you posted. Q: What casino in Arizona has the most Baccarat and Craps tables? Kaz—Tempe A: Kaz, Gila River Wild Horse Pass has the most Baccarat tables in the State with 8 tables. Talking Stick Resort and Gila River Wild Horse Pass tie for first with the most Craps tables with 4 tables each. By the way, the award also goes to Gila River Wild Horse Pass with the most Roulette tables for a grand total of 5 tables. Q: Ok, ready to start playing poker at the tables … Where do you recommend I go? Gina Lopez—Mesa A: Gina, hands down, the nicest and the largest poker room is at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale (59 tables). However, we have team members who participate in tournaments at both Casino Del Sol in Tucson (10 tables) and Hon-Dah Resort Casino in Pine Top (4 tables) as both have some great daily and weekly tournaments. While bigger may be better for some, it’s always a good idea to check out the smaller places because they have to remain competitive so they offer some incredible promotions! Q: Does every casino in Arizona have a sportsbook at this point? Tom—Online A: Tom, no not every casino in Arizona has a sportsbook yet. Currently, Arizona has 26 sportsbooks throughout the state and besides casinos you can also find them in event centers like the Footprint Center, Chase Field and State Farm Stadium. There are also some sports bars like Charley’s Sports Grill, Glendale Gallagher’s Sports Grill in Phoenix and the Midtown Tavern in Tucson. $ All info above verified with the AZ Dept. of Gaming as of 1/15/24.

GETTING A DEAL AT YOUR CASINO Why Having A Night Out At The Casino Is A Great Idea

M

any things are more expensive than gambling. Usually, that list includes things like groceries, rent, car payments, and arguing with your boss. Arguing with your spouse can be expensive, too, but that’s another story. For this story, we don’t have to agree that casino gambling in Arizona can be one of the most exciting things to do when you’ve got the time and the cash. However, what I would stress for a happy ending is treating your casino trip as an exciting, multiple-event outing that happens to include some gaming. The different levels of thinking on the subject allow you to consider other forms of entertainment like concerts and musical events held at your casino, spending a night or two at their lovely hotel, or just enjoying a nice meal away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Chances are your local property has easy in-and-out free parking, a great band from the past playing, and terrific food choices. I’m not trying to justify your trip to a casino with superlatives beyond gaming and convincing you to visit more often—just the opposite. If you plan to gamble, make it at a time when you and perhaps that spouse you aren’t arguing with can also enjoy the property’s other amenities. Not only will you likely have a great meal, but you’ll spend quality time doing something other than gambling. ENHANCING YOUR GAMING EXPERIENCE The upside of adding to your plans for gambling begins with getting into a better frame of mind. Psychologists’ offices are filled with unhappy and confused people. Enjoying your free time and spending it with others releases endorphins that help us feel and cope better with our world. Starting a gaming experience on a good note will likely make for a better overall experience. You’ll enjoy the anticipation of getting to your favorite slot machine, and it’s possible that the table games won’t be your priority for the evening. Plus, you’ll likely savor the flavor of the gaming you indulge in just a bit more. It’s a win-win.

16 Arizona Gaming Guide | February 2024 | azgamingguide.com

You may also find that you’re happy spending the same amount of time at the casino as usual, even though not all that time was spent in the casino. THE BEAUTY OF THE PLAYERS CLUB Make sure you take advantage of your comps and freebies by using a Players Club card. Although you’ll get the best rewards by playing table games and slots, most casinos have monthly or quarterly deals aimed right at your sweet spot – for rooms, discounts, free meals, and even double or triple points on special dates. When you align your gaming with those high-point days, the points multiply quickly, and complimentary gifts and rewards will be more noticeable and fun to spend! Don’t forget that knowing your friendly Floor Person or Pit Boss can bring rewards, too. They are happy to see you and are more likely to offer concert tickets, spring training tickets, or special casino room rates when you want to stay in the hotel if they know you as a regular guest. And finally, accessing your current points and rewards at the casino Players Club or the kiosks that look like ATMs is always a good idea so that you can check for special deals. $

Writer Al Moe has worked in the casino industry for many years. He has lived and worked in Las Vegas, Reno, and Lake Tahoe. He also attended the University of Nevada, Reno. He is an avid writer and blogger. His book, “Vegas and the Mob," is available online at Amazon.com. He is also the proud father of four beautiful girls.

TABLE GAMES By TJ Jorgensen

FROM MY MAILBAG—PART II Tips & Advice

O

ur first question comes from a reader who asks: Thank you for your magazine that has so much important information in it. Here are 2 gripes I don't think I have read about. First, the blackjack table limits are so expensive. This is a question for T.J. – what casino in AZ has the lowest table limit? Second, I don’t like it when someone stands behind me and watches me play. Does that ever happen to you? If I ask the dealer can he do something about the people just standing and looking? It makes me feel very uncomfortable with somebody standing behind my back. Well unfortunately almost all the casinos have $15 minimums at the blackjack tables on the weekends, the days of $5 tables are all but gone. If you go during the week, you can find some $10 tables. Your best bet is to go to a less visited casino during the week and you might find a lower table amount. Unfortunately you just have to put up with people watching you play. Maybe they are admiring the way you play and are trying to pick up pointers. Take it as a compliment. Try playing on TV sometime if you want to feel like you are really being watched. LOL! The next question comes from Verneesa who writes : TJ, when did the casinos decide to put more than one set of cards in the holder? The Old School way was to play blackjack with just one set of cards. That's why counting cards was so easy. Now, dealers put more than one set of cards into the holder. Isn't that unfair to the players? Are the sets of cards put into the holder, like they are stacked in the box that they come in, meaning one set after another? Which still makes them easy to count, if they are done this way. Or, are the sets of cards all mixed up and then put into the holder? That isn't fair, then the casino is cheating. Well it probably has been a long time since you played blackjack so I will fill you in. Around the 1970s most casinos went from a single deck hand pitched game to multi deck shoes or

18 Arizona Gaming Guide | February 2024 | azgamingguide.com

holder as you like to call them. This did several things, it eliminated the shady dealers who could manipulate cards while dealing, and the casinos didn’t have to shuffle so often. Here, in Arizona, most casinos use six deck shoes, although you can find some double decks but it’s rare. The cards are all shuffled together before they are placed in the shoe. The more decks that are used the larger the house edge is, as a general rule. It is not cheating for casinos to use more decks. A lot of casinos offset the multi deck advantage with player friendly rules, such as re-splitting Aces and doubling down after a split, which is something very rare in single deck games. Stay tuned for The Best “Trick” For Beating Blackjack in next month’s issue! $

Farr’s Platinum-selling title-track “Redneck Crazy” projected Farr forward to celebrate back-to-back No. 1 singles, including his first No. 1 as a songwriter, with his Platinum-certified hit “Whiskey in my Water.” His sophomore album, Suffer In Peace, followed suit, also making its debut in the Top 5 on both the Billboard Top 200 Albums and Billboard Country Albums Charts, leading Farr to become the only solo male Country artist in the past decade to have their first two studio albums debut in the Top 5 on the Billboard 200 Chart. Known for his love for our military and his passion for the outdoors and recognized as a 2014 CRS New Faces of Country Radio and 2014 Music Row “Breakthrough Artist of the Year” (Continued on page 22)

nominee, the opera-trained singer quickly earned coveted slots touring with Jason Aldean, Florida Georgia Line, Luke Combs, Brantley Gilbert and Lee Brice. The Missouri native’s dry wit, silly antics and reputation as “a no-frills musician who pours his drinks as hard as he pours his heart into his songs,” (Rolling Stone), led to the star’s riotous social following of fans eager for his next move. After releasing “true-blue country jam” (Country Swag) “Country As Sh#t,” featuring multi-genre phenomenon Jelly Roll that Taste of Country declared “a summer-ready ode to windows-down, mud-crusted, beer-soaked fun in the country,” Farr is heading back to his rough and rowdy ways with his latest Aldeanproduced Rednecks Like Me EP. ABOUT THE TONTO APACHE TRIBE The Tonto Apache Tribe has long strived to retain their proud heritage while educating themselves and working to improve living conditions and opportunities on the reservation. They have inhabited the area since long before Payson existed. A hardy and determined group of people who refused to be driven out in the classic Indian Wars of the 1800s, the Tonto Apaches, under the guidance of Chief Milton Campbell, worked hard to acquire the present reservation land in the 1970s. With the construction and opening of the Mazatzal Hotel & Casino, the Tonto Apaches have found themselves in a position to greatly improve their quality of life, school, health and business opportunities, and to contribute significantly to charitable causes in Payson and the surrounding Arizona Rim Country area. $

POKER, POLITICS & PRESIDENTS New Book Reveals How Cards & Other Games Impacted The Presidency

A

new book, “Poker, Politics & Presidents,” by author Ralph W. Crosby, reveals the significant influence cardplaying and other games had on U.S. presidents — from George Washington to Joe Biden — and, therefore, impacted all Americans. It illustrates how almost all presidents played games and used these and additional pastimes to escape the overbearing stresses of the presidency. The book also shows how cognitive games, such as poker and chess, went far beyond stress relief, creating a link between those games and politics. Crosby also discusses how numerous presidents used the camaraderie of poker games to their political advantage, some creating contacts that helped their rise to the presidency. It also details the author’s discovery that the highest-rated presidents were card players, which helped in their strategic thinking, risktaking, bluffing and ability to read their opponents, including their political adversaries and the country’s enemies. Four of the nation’s Founding Fathers and former presidents — George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, James Madison and James Monroe — were strategic gamblers, not only gambling with their lives in the revolt against Great Britain as well as their fortunes, but in playing cards and racing horses where the most intellectual and distinguished people chose to spend their time. Pursuit of gambling was a norm for the majority of U.S. presidents, as documented in the book. The book provides an unusual look at our presidents through the poker and other high-stake card games they enjoyed, and how those pastimes influenced their lives and ultimately, shaped their political legacies. Little-known personal anecdotes and presidential life experiences enliven the stories, including the following: • George Washington keeping track of his many gambling wins and losses in his diary. • Thomas Jefferson playing cards while writing the Declaration of Independence. • Theodore Roosevelt becoming accepted by New York saloon backroom pals by playing poker with them, thus jumpstarting his political career. • Franklin Roosevelt cheating at his weekly White House poker game. • Harry Truman playing cards while awaiting the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. • Dwight Eisenhower buying his first officer’s military uniform and his future wife Mamie’s wedding ring with his West

Author Ralph W. Crosby pictured with his wife Carlotta. Point poker winnings.

• Richard Nixon financing his first congressional campaign with his World War II Navy poker winnings.

• Barack Obama amassing political support through poker games with fellow legislators. “Poker, Politics & Presidents” is available on Amazon and through local book stores. $

Ralph W. Crosby has spent a multifaceted career as a journalist, author and marketer. Currently, he is chairman of Crosby Marketing Communications, a national advertising/PR firm he founded in 1973. The company is one of the nation’s most successful independent PR firms, with 120 employees and offices in Annapolis, Md., and the Washington, D.C., area. A graduate of the University of Maryland College of Journalism, Crosby began his professional life as a newspaperman in Baltimore, later becoming a White House correspondent and magazine writer during the Eisenhower-Kennedy-Johnson presidential years, culminating his journalistic career in 1972 as an editor with the Kiplinger organization. He has published three previous books and numerous articles in national magazines, lectured at the University of Maryland and taught writing courses at Anne Arundel Community College. In his off times, he would play cards at The Press Club with other journalists and hear stories about presidents who also played card games and other recreational activities. Ralph was fascinated with these stories and started writing them down thinking that, someday, they would make a great book. Now, in his 90’s, he’s excited to share the result, "Poker, Politics & Presidents." This is his fourth book. azgamingguide.com | February 2024 | Arizona Gaming Guide 23

YES, I GAMBLE It’s OK To Tell People Gambling Is Your Hobby

I

n this 24-7-365 world of sharing everything all the time with everyone (spouse, children, relatives, friends, coworkers, random strangers, online “friends”) I get the impression that gambling, as a hobby or pastime, is still not as socially acceptable, as say collecting shoes, or playing video games. One of the main reasons why may be because not everyone gambles on a regular basis. And let me clarify that, not everyone goes to one of the many casinos in Arizona and wagers money on a game like slots, poker, blackjack, bingo, and so on. Plenty of people gamble with their lives every day, like first responders and our fellow citizens who are brave enough to serve in the armed forces (a quick shout out and thank you to all of them). I know we all gamble with our lives as soon as we get behind the wheel and leave our parking spot. We’re gambling when we order a product from an online retailer! I never know what condition the item I just ordered will arrive in, much less if it is even the right item or, if it is, will it even work as promised. So, it’s unfortunate that gambling tends to get a bad rap as a high stakes vice that involves risky behavior and is frowned upon by many that don’t gamble. The fact is, casino gaming is a hobby just like traveling, painting, cooking, golfing, visiting museums or any of the other thousands of hobbies out there. Indulge me for just a moment here while I define what a hobby is. A hobby is an activity you can complete in your free time which brings you pleasure. This activity is usually regular and ongoing across your lifetime. Participating in your hobby allows you to develop skills and challenge yourself by attempting or experiencing new things. And, participating in a hobby should also be an effective way to rest your brain in a manner that is free from work-related or anxiety-heightening tasks. Personally, I can’t count how many times I’ve heard the phrase “I can’t wait to get home tonight and crack open a bottle of wine!” So, the bottle of wine is just for you? A 750ml bottle of wine is designed to be shared by two couples each receiving around 100ml per glass. Everyone gets almost two glasses out of the bottle. That’s a “normal” serving! But, that’s not a hobby. Nowadays, if you listen to people talk, watch what is discussed

or portrayed in all forms of media, or actually purchase a wine glass, bigger and more is clearly OK. So, if consuming copious amounts of alcohol to “deal with the day” is socially acceptable to the point that one person drinking an entire bottle of wine or more does not make them an alcoholic, you stating you have gambling as a hobby ought to be OK as well without someone looking at you sideways and making snide comments. Playing the slots is a hobby. Here’s why. You regularly play in your free time. You can always find a new slot to play. You can always travel to a new casino to introduce a novel experience. You are resting your brain. The same applies to video poker, keno, live poker, all the other card games like blackjack, roulette, craps, sports betting, etc. Do not be embarrassed by your hobby. It’s time for society to accept gambling as a hobby. Of course, if your hobby results in emotional distress, negative impacts on mental or physical health, drains your finances (too many pairs of shoes anyone?), makes you withdraw from your social circle, causes physical pain or violence, interferes with obligations and responsibilities (like work, family, paying bills), then your activity is no longer a hobby, it’s a problem and time to get help. I’m convinced regularly drinking an entire bottle of wine (again, NOT a hobby!) will lead to one or more of the issues I listed above. It’s OK to have gambling as a hobby so don’t be ashamed to admit it. $

BREAKING BARRIERS & SHATTERING STEREOTYPES Women Paving The Way At Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino

hen discussing women in leadership positions, the conversation often focuses on diversity, equity and inclusion (DE&I). When an organization has a comprehensive DE&I strategy, the emphasis is on supporting different groups of individuals, including people of different races, ethnicities, religions, abilities, genders and sexual orientations, and allies. DE&I initiatives are essential for any business, and their steps reflect a company’s willingness to be a proponent of change. The casino industry, often associated with glamour, entertainment and high stakes, has traditionally been seen as a maledominated field. However, times are changing, and Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino is a shining example of a casino where the number of women in leadership positions is on the rise.

experiences to the table. This diversity can lead to more innovative solutions and strategies, as different viewpoints can challenge the status quo and drive positive change. With a focus on inclusiveness, Harrah’s established Business Impact Groups (BIGs) to bring forth the various perspectives of its diverse workplace. One such BIG is SAVVY. SAVVY is the Business Impact Group for women and allies. SAVVY focuses on women's empowerment, support and advancement within the company. The goals of the SAVVY Business Impact Group are to: ● promote cultural awareness and education. ● develop team members personally and professionally. ● drive innovation and strategic business initiatives. ● support diverse team member recruitment and retention and foster a positive company image in the community.

Samantha Gulick, Director of Marketing and Hotel Operations for Harrah's Ak-Chin Casino, believes in championing gender diversity. “It’s no longer just talking about diversity in leadership positions,” said Gulick. “We have to demonstrate our commitment to diversity. Representation is important and having representation in leadership positions ensures that all perspectives and needs are better understood and considered in decision-making processes.”

SAVVY Chair Donata Cobb says, “Promoting gender diversity in leadership is extremely important, but it's also important to be a role model to others. Women in leadership serve as role models and mentors for other women within the gaming industry. By encouraging them to pursue and excel in leadership positions, we break down gender stereotypes and inspire more women to seek positions in gaming.”

Diverse leadership fosters a more inclusive and welcoming workplace culture. It can lead to policies and practices prioritizing diversity, equity and inclusion, making the casino a better workplace for all employees. Karen Sampson, Director of Human Resources, plays a pivotal role in ensuring a healthy work environment, cultivating talent and implementing policies that promote diversity, equity and inclusion. “Gender equity goes beyond hiring and promotion practices,” says Sampson. “Harrah’s Ak-Chin also works to identify ways to support women in general. SAVVY identified a need for pregnancy and new parent support and worked with our team to offer resources such as navigating the adoption process, returning to work and adjusting to parenthood, budgeting for a new child, car seat safety, and Paid Child Bonding Leave. These resources are invaluable for new mothers and families that need a little extra support during their pregnancy, maternity leave, and when they return to work.”

According to Bambi Johnson, Director of Finance and Administration for Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino, “I firmly believe that the success of our organization is intricately tied to the diverse and dynamic contributions of women in leadership. Embracing the unique perspectives and talents that women bring to the table not only fosters innovation but also ensures a more inclusive and resilient future for our industry. By empowering women in leadership positions, we not only elevate individual voices but collectively raise the bar for excellence, creating a stronger, more vibrant gaming community.” For more information about Harrah’s Ak-Chin, visit HarrahsAkChin.com. $

SAMI’S SMACKDOWN By Sami Becker

CUTTING A CASINO’S CORD One Reader’s “How To Guide” On Walking Away

T

here are some casinos in Arizona that truly value their patrons and provide top notch customer service and then, unfortunately, there are some that do not. That’s just a fact. Sometimes it’s poor management, sometimes it’s the inability to find good employees who are willing to do the work, and occasionally a business exhibits complete and total apathy, top to bottom. Regardless of the reason, it’s up to each of us to decide whether or not a casino is worth frequenting. Most of the residents of Arizona have at least one casino option available to them within a 15-20 minute drive from where they live. Convenience is not a good reason to choose to spend your hard-earned entertainment dollars at any casino, but I know that a casino’s proximity to where you live plays a big factor. You’re tired, you’ve had a long week, it’s Friday night and all you and your spouse want to do is grab a bite to eat and enjoy a couple hours of gaming, so driving to a casino that’s one hour away when there’s one just down the street doesn’t sound appealing. I have to commend one of our long-time readers who wrote me a detailed email recently on some of the gaming decisions she’s made as part of her New Year’s resolutions. She wished to remain anonymous so I’ll just refer to her as “Susan.” “I hold a top-level card at four different casinos in Arizona,” said Susan and “This year I have decided that [two of those four casinos] will no longer receive my business.” She went on to explain the several reasons for her firm decision. First and foremost was the fact that numerous, extremely valid, concerns that she had brought up to management were not addressed to her satisfaction. Second of all, she realized that in a direct comparison, two of the four casinos did not provide her with the best overall service and experience. “Quite a bit of money is pumped through the games, not to mention the time it takes, to achieve the highest-level tier at any casino, let alone four,” said Susan. “Besides traveling, one of the things my husband and I enjoy doing is visiting casinos on our time off from our busy work schedules.” Based on the reasons for her decisions, I fully support Susan and am extremely impressed with the level of detail and analysis her and her husband performed when evaluating which casinos were going to continue to receive their business.

34 Arizona Gaming Guide | February 2024 | azgamingguide.com

“For an entire year, I played at [a casino] without being contacted by a host or even invited to a VIP event!” Even after confirming at the Players Club that, based on her high level of play, she does have a host and her host “should be reaching out to her,” no one ever did. That’s when Susan and her husband decided to dig a little deeper. When they realized that this particular casino’s free play, promotions, and other services didn’t come anywhere close to the other casinos’ benefits, it was an easy decision to cross this casino off their list. Another casino was eliminated because Susan said she “just wasn’t winning very often at [this casino] but never understood why? I felt I was spending more time and money there, but receiving less taxable hand pays and way less in rewards and benefits.” The easy conclusion to come to is that maybe the games are just set tighter there than at the other casinos, but that doesn’t have to be the case. Sometimes a casino’s energy can just be off and it’s as simple as that. What type of crowd usually visits that particular casino? Where are your favorite games located? How loud is the atmosphere? The noise, the lights, the people, the overall environment, or dozens of other factors, can all play a role in your experience. If you don’t feel comfortable when you’re playing, it will definitely affect your play sessions. “This year is about making smart choices across the board in our lives. My husband and I will not play at any casinos where we don’t feel appreciated anymore. And we’re going to make an effort this year to drive to some of the other casinos we read about all the time in your magazine. Who knows? We may just find our next favorite casino! We’ll let you know!” Kudos to you, Susan, for choosing wisely where to spend your entertainment dollars, and your valuable time! I hope our readers take your message to heart and follow your lead as well. $
