AOA ORTHOPEDIC SPECIALISTS
BY MEREDITH KNIGHT
“First, nothing in life is free, so work hard and go get it. Second, never ask anyone to do something you’d never do yourself. Always be the example. Never stop learning, and if someone tells you you can’t, use that as motivation to prove them wrong. I feel really blessed to do the work I do, being part of helping our patients live the best, fullest life they can.”
LORI SRUBAR
What does Lori Srubar love about working in healthcare? It would be easier to list what she doesn’t love. Lori loves keeping up with the latest advancements in an industry that’s everchanging and expanding. She loves the contact with patients of all ages. “My mother has always been my role model,” Lori said. “She’s the kindest, most patient, forgiving, and driven person I’ve ever known. She’d give her last dollar to anyone in need. And she taught me you can achieve anything in life if you work hard. All those lessons inspire me in my job, every day.” Lori began working at AOA Orthopedic Specialists as a freshman in college, working part-time in the file room and, except for a year working at CareNow to broaden her knowledge in the fi eld, she’s been part of the AOA team for 19 and a half years. “I’ve had the pleasure of learning all aspects of the operation, from a scheduler, to receptionist, charge entry, credentialing, insurance contracting, and risk management and can’t wait to see what my next challenge will be,” she said. Lori enjoys knowing the ins and outs and every piece of the AOA Orthopedic Specialists operation. “My drive, attention to detail, and constant need to grow my knowledge about all areas of my profession keeps my work fresh and interesting,” she said. “Knowing all aspects of the business provides me a better understanding of how everything works together and an understanding of the employee experience as well as the patient experience.” Lori has been happily married for 11 years and has two four-legged children, a fawn boxer named Stella and a white boxer named Kona. A local girl, she happily relocated to Lewisville, when she met her husband. A fi rm believer in paying it forward, Lori’s involved with the non-profi t organizations Mission Arlington and Project Access where she coordinates patients’ orthopedic care. She enjoys a good CrossFit workout which she’s fi t in six days a week for the past three and half years. “I fi nd my workouts help with the stress of the day to day,” she said. When considering what philosophies help her give her best to AOA patients and staff, she said, “First, nothing in life is free, so work hard and go get it. Second, never ask anyone to do something you’d never do yourself. Always be the example. Never stop learning, and if someone tells you you can’t, use that as motivation to prove them wrong. I feel really blessed to do the work I do, being part of helping our patients live the best, fullest life they can.” AOA Orthopedic Specialists has been the premiere orthopedic, spine, and sports medicine group in North Texas since 1996. With more providers and locations than any other specialty orthopedics clinic in DFW, AOA ensures you and your family will get the best possible care in the most convenient locations.
