Celebration of Terndez Observed on February 14
On February 14 Armenian Apostolic Church celebrates the Feast of the Lord's Presentation to the Temple. The celebration of the feast has some features deriving from times immemorial connected with sun worship, symbolizing the coming of spring. According to Moses of Khorenatsi the infant Christ was brought to the Temple by Mary and Joseph and presented to God.
A man named Simeon was there, to whom it had been revealed that he would not see death before he had seen the Lord. Simeon held the infant in his arms, blessed God, and said, "Lord, let your servant now depart in peace, for my eyes have seen your Salvation, which you have prepared before the face of all people".

In the tradition of the Church, Evening Services (Nakhatonak) are conducted on the night preceding the Feast Day. At the conclusion of the service, the priest lights a candle from the Holy Altar, and distributes the flame to all present. With great care, the faithful take the lit candles home to their families.
According to the Armenian tradition, family members dance around the fire 3 or 7 times and jump over it. These numbers are believed to be symbols of fertility, and the fire is a symbol of light and purity, here the fire was also used for telling the future: if the flames faced the south - east, the year would be plentiful and rich - the opposite, if they faced north - west.

Armenian violinist Sergey Khachatryan wins the Credit Suisse Young Artist Award 2014 String players continue to dominate the list of winners of the Credit Suisse Young Artist Award, with Armenian violinist Sergey Khachatryan receiving this year's accolade, which carries a cash prize of CHF 75,000 (ÂŁ50,000). Khachatryan also received a concerto performance with the Vienna Philharmonic at Lucerne Festival on 13 September, under the direction of Gustavo Dudamel. The award is given every two years to a young soloist under 30 and is presented jointly by the Lucerne Festival, the Vienna Philharmonic, the Friends of Music Society in Vienna and the Jubilee Fund. This year's jury was chaired by Lucerne Festival executive and artistic director Michael Haefliger, and the result was announced following auditions

in the Vienna Musikverein. Khachatryan, 28, became the youngest winner of the Sibelius Violin Competition in 2000, and won the Queen Elisabeth Competition five years later. Besides, He has performed with such internationally acclaimed orchestras and conductors as the Berlin Philharmonic, the Orchestre de Paris under Andris Nelsons, the Bamberg Symphony under Jonathan Nott, the New York Philharmonic, the Philadelphia Orchestra and the Boston Symphony. Only one of the eight awards given out over the past 14 years has gone to a non-string player (pianist Martin Helmchen in 2006). Previous string player recipients include violinist Vilde Frang (2012) and cellist Nicolas Altstaedt (2010).

Erebuni Museum of History of Foundation of Yerevan was established in 1968. The opening of the museum was timed to coincide with the 2750th anniversary of Yerevan.
