Looking for a bride!

www.linkromania.org

Thank you for all the hard work for raising the funds and actually working on the projects!

THERE ALREADY IS A YOUNG MAN, WHO OWNS A HOUSE, WELL, LAND, PIG STY AND CHICKEN COUP. HE JUST NEEDS A BRIDE. BUILDING PIGSTIES BECAME TRADITION FOR LINK ROMANIA MOLDAVIA

It is a great joy for us to be able to let our supporters kow that we succeeded to build a new pigsty and chicken coup combo, for Marcel, the young man (ex-homeless) for whom we built the last year’s house.

British student helped by Marcel as he works on the chicken-coup project.

HOMELESS UPDATE

I truly believe that charities can’t deliver just good news, and if they do so, something is wrong, because they usually deal with people who have a sort of problem, a lack of adaptation, and despite the small successes, there is still plenty of support to offer. Continued on Page 2

NEAR FUTURE PROJECTS

We started to prepare this year for next year’s new building project, and we invite everybody to join us - or, we thank to all of you who already did so.

The local children had different activities with the students.

We didn’t mind that a storm was coming!

It was a great achievement to empower an exhomeless young man with a well full of water. This means that he can both have better hygiene, so necessary for him, and he can also keep animals, without worrying for the water. We plan to repeat this projects in the years to come, thanks to all our supporters.

Update for the past months POLITICIAN WHO USED TO BE HOMELESS, SUPPORTED BY LINK ROMANIA MOLDAVIA At the end of July we had a team of students from the Ashcombe school from England, and with their help we succeeded to add accessories to Marcel’s house - the house that we built the last year with the help of Soapbox and others. The most important thing of all is that we made him a well of about 15 metres, with plenty of water despite this summer season with a lot of draught. The well, as you can see in the picture, was made at the entrance to his yard, so it will be used by the neighbours too. This has been Link Romania’s policy since we started to do wells 10 years ago, in the Gypsy villages. We have also succeeded to build a pigsty and chicken coup - an other traditional project that is a great blessing for those who benefit of them. After we left the village, and the students left Romania, Marcel already bought 4 chicken to populate the new chicken coup. During the past months we have asked Marcel’s help for different

building projects, and he has never let us down. This year we had elections in Romania, and one of the youngmen who used to be our protegee, and who we helped with buying a land for him, etc., involved in politics and has been elected for his villages’ local council. 15 years ago he used to sleep in the station, after having to leave the state-run orphanage. We started with offering him accommodation at a partner charity’s premises, than we employed him for 2-3 years in a British funded project, and finally he asked us to help him buy a plot of land of 1,000 square meters. I remember that it was very cheap, about 200-300 Sterling Pounds. As we stated on the first page, we don’t have only good news. We feel hopeless in our work with the homeless, which just don’t want to give up their way of life and come back to the normal society standards. More than that, every year their health becomes more and more

a f f e c t e d by t h e ro u g h l i v i n g conditions. This saddens us a lot, because many of them we know for more than 10 years, and we notice the tragic changes of their lives. One of them, Catalin, the one who we wanted to help with an optician and driving license (he was finally refused because of his poor eyecondition) went to Italy to work, but he couldn’t find a job because of the economic recession that is very bad in that country. We funded his and his wife’s ticket, and he helped and various building projects to pay for the tickets. We will keep our vision to cooperate with our supporters and continue building homes for them the next year. This year we will purchase an other plot of land, and we also have a nominee. Thank you for supporting us, and most of all, for your faithful friendship over the years.

Classic well-drilling.
