""La Part des Anges" will be celebrating its 10th year in 2016.

A symbolic event in the cognac industry, this evening demonstrates the collective generosity of stakeholders and collectors from all over the world. Since 2006, our auction of high-end cognacs donated by famous brands has enabled us to support about fifteen community projects in a range of employment, education, heritage and social schemes.

We would like to thank the cognac merchants, growers, winegrowers, growers-distillers, professional distillers, barrel makers and glass makers for their loyal commitment.

A big thank you to all the buyers and collectors who have shared their passion for cognac during these ten years. We’ll see you all on 22nd September to continue this gesture of collective generosity to help the "Apprentis d'Auteuil" foundation (Apprentices of Auteuil) which is supported by our patron Guy Savoy, the world-renowed chef with many stars and accolades.

Pendant son vieillissement en fût, le cognac prend le meilleur du chêne pour révéler ses arômes les plus subtils. En contact permanent avec l’air, l’eau-de-vie perd progressivement sa force alcoolique et gagne en finesse et élégance.

Cette évaporation de l’alcool dans l’atmosphère est très poétiquement nommée « la part des anges ». Un « don » naturel pour atteindre la perfection.

The cognac takes the best of the oak and its subtlest aromas as it ages in the barrels. The alcohol content of the eau-de-vie gradually reduces as it comes into permanent contact with the air, and the cognac gains finesse and elegance. The evaporation of the alcohol into the atmosphere is described very poetically as "la part des anges" (the angel’s share). A natural "gift" to attain perfection.

Le Fil est un assemblage d’eauxde-vie des Fins Bois, unique cru distillé par la famille Merlet jusqu’à la fin des années 60. Elles ont traversé le vingtième siècle et sont arrivées jusqu’à nous pour s’unir en une pièce unique.

Trois générations et trois cognacs Hors d’Âge témoignent du savoir-faire des Merlet au fil du temps. Tout d’abord celle d’Édouard, distillateur de deuxième génération, au début du XXe siècle. Puis la troisième génération de Guy, peu après la Seconde Guerre Mondiale, et enfin Gilles, la quatrième et avant-dernière génération, dès la fin des années soixante-dix.

Cet assemblage exclusif est présenté dans une généreuse bouteille de 3 litres inspirée d’un modèle ancien et soufflée bouche par un artisan verrier en un exemplaire unique. Elle est habillée par un artisan vannier de Saint Sauvant, le village où cinq générations Merlet se sont succédé depuis 1850, et par un artisan du cuir de la région. Le Fil rend hommage au lien exceptionnel tissé entre famille et village ainsi qu’à la filiation des Merlet qui se perpétue à travers les générations – et les cognacs.

"Le Fil" is a blend of eaux-devie from Fins Bois, the only cru distilled by the Merlet family until the late 60s. They lasted through the 20th century to be united today in a unique cognac.

Merlet’s expertise has been built over the decades. Le Fil showcases the work of three generations of cognac makers.

The first one is second generation Édouard, at work in the early 20th century. Shortly after the Second World War, it’s the third generation’s turn, with Guy, while Gilles, the fourth and penultimate generation, took over in the late seventies.

This exclusive blend comes in a generous 3 litres bottle, inspired by an old decanter. It has been exclusively mouth blown by a glass craftsman, dressed by a craft basket maker from Saint Sauvant, the village that has seen five successive generations work at the Merlet distillery since 1850, and a local leather craftsman. "Le Fil" honors the outstanding bond forged between family and village as well as the Merlet filiation, perpetuated through generations - and cognacs.

When our family history blends with the present, an exceptional cognac is born. Il y a quelques années, les cognacs millésimés 1965 et 1968 de la Maison Ferrand ont été notés 100/100 par le Beverage Testing Institute. Dans la mythique « Collection Millésime Mémoires », le millésime 1969 n’a rien à leur envier. Il partage d’ailleurs avec eux une autre qualité : la rareté. En effet, à l’occasion de la 10e Part des Anges, Alexandre Gabriel, propriétaire et maître de chai de Maison Ferrand, en offrira une seule carafe aux enchères, pas une de plus. La Dame Jeanne renfermant ce qui reste de cette eau-de-vie d’exception ne quittera plus ensuite le paradis du Château de Bonbonnet.

Si le contenu est unique, le contenant l’est tout autant. Il s’agit d’une carafe du XIXe siècle, entièrement restaurée par un maître verrier et présentée dans un coffret en bois d’acajou, capitonné de peau.

Un écrin sur mesure en forme d’hommage au génie de la main de l’homme. Cette carafe magnifie autant le travail des artisans d’aujourd’hui que celui du maître de chai qui osa donner sa chance à ce spiritueux. Un millésime 1969 qui se caractérise par un nez délicat d’épices et de fruits secs, et a développé, avec l’âge, des fragrances subtiles de poire et de réglisse.

If the content is unique, the vessel is equally so. A 19th century crystal carafe beautifully restored by a glass master craftsman presented in a leather-lined mahogany case. An elegant custom setting paying homage to the genius skill of man. This magnificent carafe magnifies the work of today’s artisans as much the cellar master who dared place his bet on these spirits. This vintage 1969 is praised for its bouquet of delicate spices and dried fruits, developing subtle aromas of pear and licorice with age.

Né au Château de Cognac en 1494, François 1er fut l’initiateur en France de l’Humanisme et de la Renaissance. Protecteur des Arts et des Lettres, il avait un goût particulier pour l’émail peint et fit réaliser par un émailleur de Limoges le portrait de sa seconde épouse, Éléonore d’Autriche. D’où le choix de la porcelaine de Limoges pour ce buste de François 1er, d’après le célèbre portrait de François 1er par François Clouet, actuellement au Musée du Louvre à Paris.

Aujourd’hui, les cognacs Baron Otard ont le privilège d’être les successeurs, au Château de Cognac, du célèbre roi. Les eaux-de-vie de Grande Champagne, vieillies dans les chais uniques du Château apportent élégance et finesse à cet assemblage et en font une œuvre d’art qui fait honneur au buste de François 1er qui le contient.

Born in the Château de Cognac in 1494, Francis the 1st initiated in France Humanism and Renaissance. Patron of the Arts and Literature, he had a particular fondness for painted enamel and commissioned an enameller from Limoges a portrait of his second wife, Eleanor of Austria, which explains the choice of Limoges Porcelain for this bust of Francis the 1st, inspired by his famous portrait by François Clouet, now in the Louvre Museum in Paris.

Today, Baron Otard Cognacs have the privilege of being successors, in the Château de Cognac, to this famous king. The eaux de vie of the Grande Champagne, aged in the unique cellars of the Chateau bring elegance and finesse to the assemblage and make it a work of art that pays honor to this bust of Francis the 1st in which it is contained.

Photographie indélébile des circonstances d’une année, la philosophie du millésime est indissociable de l’identité de la Maison Hine. Le sol calcaire de Grande Champagne imprime sur les eauxde-vie une personnalité franche, où le vieillissement apaise la fougue des jeunes années, magnifie une extraordinaire fraîcheur persistant même après des décennies en fût de chêne. Cent ans se sont écoulés depuis les vendanges de ce singulier millésime 1916. Un siècle au cours duquel ont jailli des notes de raisin de Corinthe, d’iris et de poivre blanc. La marmelade d’orange amère vient affleurer, légèrement acidulée, soutenue par une opulence subtile. Les noix enfin, viennent fermer la marche d’une finale friande.

Comme un pied de nez au temps qui passe, la Maison Hine pare ce millésime 1916 d’une œuvre contemporaine de l’américain James Viscardi. Lauréat du Prix Hine de la section Peinture du Royal College of Art de Londres en 2011, il a spécialement mis en couleurs étiquette et coffret de hêtre pour l’édition 2016 de la Part des Anges.

Indelible photograph of a year’s events, the vintage philosophy is inseparable with Hine’s identity.

The Grande Champagne’s chalky soil leaves a lasting impression on the eaux-de-vie, the ageing calms the ardour of the early years, magnifying an extraordinary persistent freshness, even after many years of ageing in oak cask. One hundred years have gone by since the harvest of this particular 1916 Vintage. A century during which hints of currants, iris and white pepper have become apparent.

On the nose, bitter orange marmalade, slightly tangy, backed by a subtle opulence. Finally a touch of walnuts lingers on the palate.

Hine decided to adorn this 1916 Vintage in a contemporary work of art by American artist James Viscardi who won the Hine Painting Prize at the Royal College of Art Graduate Exhibition in 2011, arguably the most influential university of art and design. He specially designed the label and beech presentation box for the 2016 "Part des Anges".

La Maison J.A. Renault fondée en 1835 a toujours eu l’obsession de proposer des cognacs les plus aboutis. Pour certains, seul le temps pouvait apporter l’intensité ultime recherchée. C’est ce que symbolise l’Hourglass - Âge du Temps de la Maison J.A. Renault.

Nous avons sélectionné une eau-de-vie de Grande Champagne distillée au cours de l’hiver 1950 dans le village de St Preuil. Vieilli 60 années en fûts de chêne dans l’humidité d’un chai aux murs épais ce cognac est conservé depuis 2010 en dame-jeanne pour préserver l’équilibre ultime obtenu par l’effet du temps.

Ce cognac d’une intensité exceptionnelle dévoile des arômes de pruneau, zeste d’orange et mangue ; mais aussi de noix de muscade et réglisse ; enrichis de notes complexes de cuir, bois de cèdre et tabac.

J.A. Renault Cognac House founded in 1835 has always been obsessed with offering the most accomplished cognacs. For some of the selected cognacs, only time could bring about the ultimate desired intensity. This is what symbolizes the "Hourglass – Âge du Temps" for J.A. Renault.

We have selected an eau-de-vie from the Grande Champagne region that was distilled during the winter of 1950 in the village of St. Preuil. Aged in oak barrels for 60 years in the dampness of a thick-walled cellar, since 2010 this cognac has been stored in a demijohn to preserve the ultimate balance obtained by the effect of time.

This cognac with its exceptional intensity reveals aromas of prune, orange zest and mango as well as nutmeg and liquorice, enriched with complex notes of leather, cedar wood and tobacco.

Cette œuvre inédite est née d’une rencontre, la famille Abecassis et deux artistes contemporains : Céline Delcourt et Maria Perafan.

La symbolique de cette œuvre d’art est matérialisée par des pieds de vigne s’enracinant dans un sol d’exception, ce qui reflète tout à fait l’esprit de la maison ABK6 Cognac.

L’œuvre Spiritu a été imaginée tel le reflet d’un ancrage et d’un héritage. Flacon, Cognac de notre Chai Paradis et sculpture s’animent ensemble pour ne former plus qu’un. Inspirée par la nature, la création s’entremêle, s’entrelace, pour finalement sublimer la cuvée Spiritu d’ABK6. Spiritu, signifiant « esprit » en latin, est le reflet de cette inspiration créative dont est né ABK6 Cognac. Ce très vieux cognac Fins Bois du début du siècle dernier apparaît comme la représentation matérielle et sensible de cet esprit de création, d’héritage et de transmission d’un savoir-faire inimitable.

The symbolism of this work of art is captured by vines rooted in an exceptional soil which fully reflect the philosophy and spirit of the house ABK6 Cognac.

The work "Spiritu" was conceived as a reflection of an anchor and heritage. Decanter, Cognac from our Paradise Cellar and sculpture come alive to become one. Inspired by nature, the creation is intertwined, blending together to enhance the Spiritu cuvée from ABK6.

Spiritu, signifies "spirit" in Latin and displays it in this creative inspiration and breath of life from which ABK6 Cognac is born.

This very old Fins Bois Cognac dated back from beginning of last century represents the sensibility of this artwork’s spirit, its heritage and inimitable know-how.

Durant quatre ans, pour créer L’Essence de Courvoisier, j’ai dégusté avec passion des centaines d’eauxde-vie de Grande Champagne et de Borderies pour sélectionner avec mon équipe celles qui composeraient ce merveilleux assemblage. Parmi elles, j’avais gardé en mémoire une Grande Champagne hors d’âge à la puissance et au goût unique.

J’avais alors été subjugué par sa richesse et son élégance, et rêvais déjà du jour où elle donnerait naissance à un cognac exceptionnel, aujourd’hui baptisé Extrait N° 1.

Extrait N° 1 est un joyau d’une grande puissance aromatique où les notes de cuir, de miel, d’épices se combinent avec des arômes de bois de cèdre, de noix, de fruits confits, procurant un plaisir gustatif à nul autre comparable, avec une finale très soyeuse et une complexité aromatique que seuls peuvent offrir les grands cognacs.

La robe délicatement ambrée d’Extrait n°1 est sublimée par une magnifique carafe Baccarat qui se présente tel un bijou avec son bouchon à facettes de diamant, et son anneau aux teintes cuivrées.

Ce flacon exceptionnel a été édité en un seul exemplaire pour célébrer la dixième édition de La Part des Anges.

During the four years developing "L’Essence de Courvoisier", I passionately tasted hundreds of eaux de vie issued from Grande Champagne and Borderies crus before selecting with my team the ones which would be used for this wonderful blend. One in particular captivated my inspiration, a very old Grande Champagne with its unique and distinctive character. At that time, I was fascinated by its richness and elegance and wished already for the day when it would give birth to an exceptional cognac, now called "Extrait N°1".

"Extrait N°1" is a jewel with a strong aromatic profile where the notes of leather, honey, spices combine with aromas of cedar, nuts, candied fruit, providing an uncomparable tasting pleasure, with a very smooth finish and an aromatic complexity that only few great cognacs can offer.

The delicate amber colour of "Extrait N°1" is further enhanced by a beautiful Baccarat decanter adorned by a finely crafted diamond shaped crystal stopper and suspended in a copper hued frame, which has been released in a unique masterpiece for "La Part des Anges" 2016 to celebrate its 10th edition.

In 1916, when Prohibition started in Norway, Thomas Bache-Gabrielsen escaped the restrictions as he sold the cognac in pharmacies – "Apotek" in Norwegian. This unprecedented lot has been inspired by this apothecary world, soul of the Cognac House Bache-Gabrielsen: its "Comptoir", its labels’ room with the numerous wood drawers, its Master Blender’s laboratory with the multiple tasting samples.

Le couturier Yves Saint Laurent poussait ses premiers cris, une jeune artiste devenait « la Môme » pendant que nous regrettions la disparition de notre héros, l’aviateur Jean Mermoz. C’est dans cette atmosphère si particulière que naissaient les premières fragrances de ce nectar, sous les mains expertes de nos aïeux, qui attisaient les braises de l’alambic familial.

La suite de cette épopée se passe dans un de nos fûts de chêne.

The fashion designer, Yves Saint Laurent uttered his first cries, as a famous young singer became "The Little Sparrow", and we mourned the death of the hero aviator, Jean Mermoz.

Elles ont été forgées par le temps et le discernement de 7 générations de Maîtres Assembleurs.

Dans l’atmosphère de ce chai centenaire, est née une Édition Particulière, spécialement créée pour La Part des Anges 2016. Cette année, Yann Fillioux, 7e génération de Maître Assembleur a identifié des eaux-de-vie en tierçons portées au sommet de leur expression. Il nous offre aujourd’hui l’occasion d’en extraire une infime quantité afin de réaliser un assemblage d’exception avant de les transférer en dames-jeannes. Ce sont ses successeurs qui décideront du moment le plus juste pour les utiliser, peut-être dans des décennies.

"The founder's storehouse is at the heart of Hennessy" The founder's chai, the first chai of Maison Hennessy serves as a depository for Hennessy's most precious eaux-de-vie. They are works of art formed over time and with the discernment of 7 generations of Master Blenders from the Fillioux family.

From the protected environment of this century chai, out of time, is born an "Édition Particulière", specially created for "La Part des Anges" 2016. This year, Yann Fillioux, seventh generation of Master Blender, identified a handful of eaux-de-vie at the peak of their expression. Now, he is offering us the privilege of extracting a tiny amount in order to create an exceptional blend before they are transferred into demijohns. His successors will decide on the optimal moment to use them, which may not occur before decades.

This timeless cognac of a remarkable intensity, is the absolute reflection of the Hennessy savoir-faire.

La Maison Martell présente Édouard, en hommage à Édouard Martell disparu en 1920. Le flacon embrasse une eau-de-vie rarissime et inédite : une Grande Champagne de 1920, brute de fût à 48.8° et non filtrée à froid pour révéler toute la typicité du cru et préserver l’intensité aromatique de l’eau-de-vie.

Ce cognac laisse apparaître une robe cuivrée dorée et brillante aux reflets acajou à ambrés.

Le premier nez, expressif et fruité, est agrémenté d’écorces d’agrumes confites (mandarine de Corse ou kumquat) ou encore de fruits confits. À l’agitation, il se renforce sur une parfaite adéquation entre le côté fleurs séchées, feuilles de tabac blond, fruits confits (abricot de l’Angoumois) et une touche mielleuse à épicée.

L’attaque en bouche est franche, expressive et marquée par une certaine rondeur. Après de délicates notes de fruits secs, mariées à une pointe de bois merveilleusement bien fondu, la bouche se structure, alternant au fil de la dégustation entre de subtiles notes de fruits rouges à noirs. Une fin de bouche puissante, d’un très bel équilibre et d’une belle longueur.

Le coffret qui accompagne cette eau-de-vie est une édition exclusive et unique réalisée par les Ateliers Drevelle. Une offre au design contemporain dont la forme déstructurée rappelle les strates du temps et du terroir, deux dimensions qui ont façonné l’histoire de la Maison Martell.

Ce cognac est présenté dans une élégante carafe en cristal de Baccarat, dessiné exclusivement pour la Maison Martell en 1954.

The House of Martell presents "Édouard" in tribute to Édouard Martell, who died in 1920. The bottle contains an extremely rare eau-de-vie not previously released, a Grande Champagne cognac from 1920. Bottled straight from the cask at 48.8% alcohol by volume, the spirit is non chill-filtered in order to bring out the full character of the growth and retain the eau-devie’s aromatic intensity.

This cognac has a brilliant, golden-copper hue with glints of mahogany and amber.

The nose, at first expressive and fruity, is enhanced by aromas of candied citrus peel (Corsican mandarin or kumquat) or crystallised fruit.

Swirling in the glass reveals an ideal balance of dried flowers or Virginia tobacco leaves, crystallised fruit (Angoulême apricot) and a hint of honey and spice.

On the palate, the attack is fullbodied and expressive with a distinctly rounded character. After some subtle dried-fruit notes combined with a beautifully integrated touch of wood, the palate acquires structure as delicate redberry aromas alternate with black fruits throughout the tasting. The finish is powerful, finely balanced and wonderfully long-lived.

The presentation case accompanying this eau-de-vie is a unique, exclusive design made by the Ateliers Drevelle. Its contemporary style and unstructured shape recall the different strata to be found in time and terroir, two dimensions that have fashioned the history of the House of Martell.

The cognac is presented in an elegant crystal decanter by Baccarat, designed exclusively for the Martell House in 1954.

Artistique collaboration between the Parisian sculptor Romain de Suza & the Godet family, "Origine" is an invitation into the intimacy of cognac cellars.

A large format of 3 liter cognac suspended in the air by a massive copper pedestal, reachable with a copper finished glass pipette.

"Origine" is a 45 years old Grand Champagne cognac, aged exclusively in La Rochelle by the Atlantic Ocean by 3 generations of Godet, Jean, Jacques & JeanJacques.

The Pedestal allows a close to perfection assessment of the color & texture of the cognac and the pipette to serve each glass like the master blenders does, straight from the barrel.

The artist Romain de Souza, is a friend of the Godet family and has developed an obsession for Copper. He uses it to revisit the European traditions of art. Le chêne et l’inox, matériaux essentiels à l’élaboration du Cognac, illustrent toutes les dualités du monde des spiritueux (chaud et froid, vivant et inerte, fort et faible…).

Directement prélevé sur une grume du port de La Pallice à La Rochelle, ce bloc de chêne a été sculpté par un artisan talentueux, puis habillé d’un cuir de veau pleine fleur.

Le flacon du début du siècle dernier reflète une simplicité et une élégance pures ; il a été agrémenté d’une bague appelée « bonnet turc » réalisée par les mateloteurs de la frégate « l’Hermione », Nicolas Forgeau et José Valier, à la Corderie royale de Rochefort sur Mer : une belle histoire.

L’eau de vie, réduite naturellement après de longues années de vieillissement, monte en douceur avec ses notes fraiches de fruits exotiques (ananas, mangue), ses notes de fruits confits (abricot, coing), et son rancio qui évolue subtilement sur un matelas de bois de santal et de gousse de vanille.

Oak and steel, two essential components for making Cognac, are part of all the dualities of the world of spirits (hot and cold, live and still, strong and weak…).

Directly taken from a rough lumber log from the La Pallice shipyard in La Rochelle, this bloc of oak has been carved by a talented artisan, and fitted with a refined soft calf leather piece.

The bottle, a replica from last century, reflects simplicity and pure elegance; it has been adorned with a ring called the Turk’s head knot made by the sailors of the Hermione, Nicolas Forgeau and Jose Valier, at the Rochefort sur Mer royal maritime arsenal: a beautiful story.

The cask-strength eau de vie, which is naturally reduced after long years of ageing, comes up to the nose very softly, with fresh notes of exotic fruits (pineapple, mango), and notes of candied fruits (apricot, quince), and a rancio which subtly evolves on a coat of sandal wood and vanilla bean.

Les meilleurs artisans de France et de notre région se sont réunis pour créer cet écrin : une carafe cristal précieuse, un coffret conçu par notre ébéniste préféré, l’habillage en cuir par un tapissier de Jarnac et le laquage par un artisan de Cognac.

Un petit chef- d’œuvre pour un cognac d’exception. « Nez délicat, très fin, où se mêlent des notes fruitées rappelant l’abricot sec et la confiture de pêche blanche. Quelques très fines notes d’épices douces, cannelle et vanille, et des fragrances de thé à la bergamote.

En bouche, l’attache très souple évolue délicatement sur une structure grasse, ample où l’on retrouve le velouté du nectar d’abricot, agrémenté par de très fraîches notes boisées, parfaitement fondues.

La finale, toute en délicatesse, prolonge la sensation de plénitude et d’équilibre de cette Petite Champagne lentement et naturellement réduite à 40% par un long vieillissement dans un chai particulièrement humide. »

An informal society of Artisan/ Artist, a rare association of the most talented French and local artisans, has created this masterpiece beautifying this unique cognac: The crystal decanter is exceptional, the wooden "treasury chest" is specially made by our favorite cabinet maker, the leather upholstering comes from a Jarnac artisan, the lacquer from a specialist in Cognac and finally the cognac is our cellar master’s personal favorite: a piece of history, the ultimate cognac.

"Delicate nose, with fruity notes, a hint of dried apricot and preserved white peach. Light and fine notes of sweet spices, cinnamon and vanilla, fragrances of bergamot tea.

On the palate, the approach is very supple evolving delicately into a richer feeling, opening on notes of nectar of apricot, completed by fresh notes of harmonised wood.

The finish, extremely delicate, extends this feeling of fullness and balance, typical of Petite Champagne, slowly and naturally reduced to 40% thanks to a long ageing in a remarkably humid cellar."

« La part des anges c’est avant tout la rencontre de deux éléments qui, a priori, n’ont rien à voir l’un avec l’autre. D’abord le cognac, issu du travail de la terre, sublimé par la distillation, enfermé dans des fûts en chêne au cœur de solides chais, anonymes, discrets, prêts à conserver leur trésors pour des décennies. Et d’autre part, des effluves, invisibles, incolores, irrésistibles qui s’échappent en permanence.

L’opposition de ces deux mondes qui cependant n’existent que l’un part rapport à l’autre est, pour moi, le point de départ du projet de sculpture. Deux mondes, deux matériaux, le bronze, lourd, solide, opaque, patiné par les années et le verre, fluide, soyeux, opalescent, évanescent.

Le travail de fonte du bronze et du verre est comme celui du cognac, le fruit de l’art du feu avec l’attention et la patience que génère le fait de composer avec une force qui nous dépasse.

Mais au-delà de la forme, les deux matériaux ont aussi des points communs avec l’univers du cognac.

"The "Angels Share" is, above all, the combination of two elements that ordinarily have nothing in common. Firstly the Cognac, a fruit of the earth sublimed by distillation, and then stored in solid wooden casks at the heart of deeply secret cellars that are discreet and anonymous and prepared to nurture their treasure for many decades. And, on the other hand, the invisible, colorless, irresistible vapors that escape permanently into the surrounding air, the Angels share.

These two opposing elements, that only exist because of each other, were for me the starting point for this sculpture. Two worlds, two materials, the bronze heavy, solid and opaque, polished by the years, and the glass, silky, flowing, opalescent and iridescent.

The smelting of the bronze and the glass is, like Cognac, the fruit of the art of fire combined with the attention and patience needed to master an unknown force.

Je ne me définis pas comme un sculpteur, je suis un designer, j’avais le choix au départ, j’aurais pu m’orienter vers l’accomplissement d’une œuvre personnelle. Au lieu de cela je me suis engagé dans le travail du design packaging des spiritueux, métier qui m’a toujours passionné.

Après des études classiques aux Beaux-Arts à Paris, j’ai travaillé avec un photographe de renom, qui possédait une agence de communication. À partir de là ma carrière était tracée. Plus tard, après avoir également été enseignant aux Beaux-Arts, j’ai créé à Angoulême l’agence LINEA, première agence dédiée à la création packaging pour les vins et spiritueux. Cette agence qui progresse toujours dans cette voie et avec laquelle je garde des liens étroits, a été une pépinière de vocations et à la genèse de tous les autres studios de création de la région, ce qui est pour moi sans doute ma plus belle œuvre.

Maintenant je redécouvre depuis quelques années, en parallèle du design, les arts du feu : le grès, la pâte de verre et le travail du bronze.

J’aime ce travail de contact physique avec les matériaux qu’il faut comprendre et apprivoiser comme des matières vivantes et surtout respecter et aimer. C’est aussi une école d’humilité où beaucoup de choses nous échappent et où il faut savoir accepter les échecs quand ils arrivent et s’en servir pour repartir et avancer. » Jean-Michel Jobit, designer

I do not describe myself as a sculptor, I am a designer. At the start of my career I could have chosen to create personal works of art instead, I chose to invest in the design and packaging of spirits, an activity that I have always been passionate about.

After doing classical studies in the Beaux-Arts in Paris, I worked alongside a well known photographer who also managed a communications agency. From then onwards the path of my career was decided. Later, after a period of teaching at the BeauxArts, I created Linea, the first design agency dedicated to wines and spirits, in Angouleme.

The agency, which continues to progress in this field,and with whom I am in close contact, was the inspiration for the creation of all the other design studios in the area, this I consider as being one of my greatest achievements.

During the last few years I have rediscovered, in parallel with my work in design, the art of fire : ceramics, glass/crystal and bronze. I adore the physical contact with these materials that one must understand, tame and master like living creatures, and above all one must respect and admire them. It is also a lesson in humility where many things can escape us and where, sometimes, we have to accept failures and learn from them."

The charity auction of fine cognacs has been organized by the Interprofession du Cognac (the National Cognac Board) or BNIC, in partnership with the auction house Artcurial.

24 superb carafes and blends generously donated by the cognac houses will be auctioned and the proceeds sent to the "Apprentis d’Auteuil" foundation. Artist Jean Michel Jobit has also donated an artwork created for the occasion.

HOW DO I BID IF I CANNOT ATTEND THE AUCTION? • You can use the "live bid" function to bid online and in real time during the auction.

An employee of the auction house will then contact you at the start of the auction.

L’absence d’indication d’une restauration d’un accident ou d’un incident dans le catalogue, les rapports, les étiquettes ou verbalement, n’implique nullement qu’un bien soit exempt de tout défaut présent, passé ou réparé.Inversement la mention de quelque défaut n’implique pas l’absence de tous autres défauts. d) Les estimations sont fournies à titre purement indicatif et elles ne peuvent être considérées comme impliquant la certitude que le bien sera vendu au prix estimé ou même à l’intérieur de la fourchette d’estimations.

Les estimations ne sauraient constituer une quelconque garantie.

Les estimations peuvent être fournies en plusieurs monnaies ; les conversions peuvent à cette occasion être arrondies différemment des arrondissements légaux.

2 . LA VENTE a) En vue d’une bonne organisation des ventes, les acquéreurs potentiels sont invités à se faire connaître auprès d’Artcurial SAS, avant la vente, afin de permettre l’enregistrement de leurs données personnelles.Artcurial SAS se réserve le droit de demander à tout acquéreur potentiel de justifier de son identité ainsi que de ses références bancaires et d’effectuer un déposit.

Artcurial SAS se réserve d’interdire l’accès à la salle de vente de tout acquéreur potentiel pour justes motifs. b) Toute personne qui se porte enchérisseur s’engage à régler personnellement et immédiatement le prix d’adjudication augmenté des frais à la charge de l’acquéreur et de tous impôts ou taxes qui pourraient être exigibles.Tout enchérisseur est censé agir pour son propre compte sauf dénonciation préalable de sa qualité de mandataire pour le compte d’un tiers, acceptée par Artcurial SAS.

c) Le mode normal pour enchérir consiste à être présent dans la salle de vente. Toutefois Artcurial SAS pourra accepter gracieusement de recevoir des enchères par téléphone d’un acquéreur potentiel qui se sera manifesté avant la vente.

Artcurial SAS ne pourra engager sa responsabilité notamment si la liaison téléphonique n’est pas établie, est établie tardivement, ou en cas d’erreur ou d’omissions relatives à la réception des enchères par téléphone. À toutes fins utiles, Artcurial SAS se réserve le droit d’enregistrer les communications téléphoniques durant la vente. Les enregistrements seront conservés jusqu’au règlement du prix, sauf contestation. d) Artcurial SAS pourra accepter gracieusement d’exécuter des ordres d’enchérir qui lui auront été transmis avant la vente, pour lesquels elle se réserve le droit de demander un déposit de garantie et qu’elle aura acceptés. Si le lot n’est pas adjugé à cet enchérisseur, le déposit de garantie sera renvoyé sous 72h.

Si Artcurial SAS reçoit plusieurs ordres pour des montants d’enchères identiques, c’est l’ordre le plus ancien qui sera préféré.

Artcurial SAS ne pourra engager sa responsabilité notamment en cas d’erreur ou d’omission d’exécution de l’ordre écrit. e) Dans l’hypothèse où un prix de réserve aurait été stipulé par le vendeur, Artcurial SAS se réserve le droit de porter des enchères pour le compte du vendeur jusqu’à ce que le prix de réserve soit atteint.En revanche le vendeur n’est pas autorisé à porter luimême des enchères directement ou par le biais d’un mandataire.Le prix de réserve ne pourra pas dépasser l’estimation basse figurant dans le catalogue ou modifié publiquement avant la vente. f) Artcurial SAS dirigera la vente de façon discrétionnaire, en veillant à la liberté des enchères et à l’égalité entre l’ensemble des enchérisseurs, tout en respectant les usages établis.Artcurial SAS se réserve de refuser toute enchère, d’organiser les enchères de la façon la plus appropriée, de déplacer certains lots lors de la vente, de retirer tout lot de la vente, de réunir ou de séparer des lots.En cas de contestation Artcurial SAS se réserve de désigner l’adjudicataire, de poursuivre la vente ou de l’annuler, ou encore de remettre le lot en vente. g) Sous réserve de la décision de la personne dirigeant la vente pour Artcurial SAS, l’adjudicataire sera la personne qui aura porté l’enchère la plus élevée pourvu qu’elle soit égale ou supérieure au prix de réserve, éventuellement stipulé.

Le coup de marteau matérialisera la fin des enchères et le prononcé du mot « adjugé » ou tout autre équivalent entraînera la formation du contrat de vente entre le vendeur et le dernier enchérisseur retenu. L’adjudicataire ne pourra obtenir la livraison du lot qu’après règlement de l’intégralité du prix. en cas de remise d’un chèque ordinaire, seul l’encaissement du chèque vaudra règlement.

Artcurial SAS se réserve le droit de ne délivrer le lot qu’après encaissement du chèque. h) Pour faciliter les calculs des acquéreurs potentiels, Artcurial SAS pourra être conduit à utiliser à titre indicatif un système de conversion de devises. Néanmoins les enchères ne pourront être portées en devises, et les erreurs de conversion ne pourront engager la responsabilité de Artcurial SAS

3 . L’EXÉCUTION DE LA VENTE a) En sus du prix de l’adjudication, l’adjudicataire (acheteur) devra acquitter par lot et par tranche dégressive les commissions et taxes suivantes : 1) Lots en provenance de l’UE : • De 1 à 50 000 euros : 25 % + TVA au taux en vigueur.

• De 50 001 à 1 200 000 euros : 20% + TVA au taux en vigueur.

• Au-delà de 1 200 001 euros : 12 % + TVA au taux en vigueur.

2) Lots en provenance hors UE : (indiqués par un m).

Aux commissions et taxes indiquées ci-dessus, il convient d’ajouter des frais d’importation, (5,5 % du prix d’adjudication, 20 % pour les bijoux et montres, les automobiles, les vins et spiritueux et les multiples).

3) La TVA sur commissions et frais d’importation peuvent être rétrocédés à l’adjudicataire sur présentation des justificatifs d’exportation hors UE. L’adjudicataire UE justifiant d’un n° de TVA Intracommunautaire et d’un document prouvant la livraison dans son état membre pourra obtenir le remboursement de la TVA sur commissions.

Le paiement du lot aura lieu au comptant, pour l’intégralité du prix, des frais et taxes, même en cas de nécessité d’obtention d’une licence d’exportation. L’adjudicataire pourra s’acquitter par les moyens suivants : - En espèces : jusqu’à 1 000 euros frais et taxes compris pour les ressortissants français et les personnes agissant pour le compte d’une entreprise, 15 000 euros frais et taxe compris pour les ressortissants étrangers sur présentation de leurs papiers d’identité ; - Par chèque bancaire tiré sur une banque française sur présentation d’une pièce d’identité et, pour toute personne morale, d’un extrait KBis daté de moins de 3 mois (les chèques tirés sur une banque étrangère ne sont pas acceptés); - Par virement bancaire ; - Par carte de crédit : VISA, MASTERCARD ou AMEX (en cas de règlement par carte American Express, une commission supplémentaire de 1,85 % correspondant aux frais d’encaissement sera perçue). b) Artcurial SAS sera autorisé à reproduire sur le procès-verbal de vente et sur le bordereau d’adjudication les renseignements qu’aura fournis l’adjudicataire avant la vente. Toute fausse indication engagera la responsabilité de l’adjudicataire.

Dans l’hypothèse où l’adjudicataire ne se sera pas fait enregistrer avant la vente, il devra communiquer les renseignements nécessaires dès l’adjudication du lot prononcée.

Toute personne s’étant fait enregistrer auprès de Artcurial SAS dispose d’un droit d’accès et de rectification aux données nominatives fournies à Artcurial SAS dans les conditions de la Loi du 6 juillet 1978. c) Il appartiendra à l’adjudicataire de faire assurer le lot dès l’adjudication. Il ne pourra recourir contre Artcurial SAS, dans l’hypothèse où par suite du vol, de la perte ou de la dégradation de son lot, après l’adjudication, l’indemnisation qu’il recevra de l’assureur de Artcurial SAS serait avérée insuffisante. d) Le lot ne sera délivré à l’acquéreur qu’après paiement intégral du prix, des frais et des taxes. En cas de règlement par chèque, le lot ne sera délivré qu’après encaissement définitif du chèque, soit 8 jours ouvrables à compter du dépôt du chèque.Dans l’intervalle Artcurial SAS pourra facturer à l’acquéreur des frais d’entreposage du lot,

et éventuellement des frais de manutention et de transport.À défaut de paiement par l’adjudicataire, après mise en demeure restée infructueuse, le bien est remis en vente à la demande du vendeur sur folle enchère de l’adjudicataire défaillant ; si le vendeur ne formule pas cette demande dans un délai de trois mois à compter de l’adjudication, la vente est résolue de plein droit, sans préjudice de dommages intérêts dus par l’adjudicataire défaillant.

En outre, Artcurial SAS se réserve de réclamer à l’adjudicataire défaillant, à son choix : - Des intérêts au taux légal majoré de cinq points, - Le remboursement des coûts supplémentaires engendrés par sa défaillance, - Le paiement de la différence entre le prix d’adjudication initial et le prix d’adjudication sur folle enchère s’il est inférieur, ainsi que les coûts générés par les nouvelles enchères.

Artcurial SAS se réserve également de procéder à toute compensation avec des sommes dues à l’adjudicataire défaillant. Artcurial SAS se réserve d’exclure de ses ventes futures, tout adjudicataire qui aura été défaillant ou qui n’aura pas respecté les présentes conditions générales d’achat. e) Les achats qui n’auront pas été retirés dans les sept jours de la vente (samedi, dimanche et jours fériés compris), pourront être transportés dans un lieu de conservation aux frais de l’adjudicataire défaillant qui devra régler le coût correspondant pour pouvoir retirer le lot, en sus du prix, des frais et des taxes. f) L’acquéreur pourra se faire délivrer à sa demande un certificat de vente qui lui sera facturé la somme de 60 euros TTC.

4 . LES INCIDENTS DE LA VENTE En cas de contestation Artcurial SAS se réserve de désigner l’adjudicataire, de poursuivre la vente ou de l’annuler, ou encore de remettre le lot en vente. a) Dans l’hypothèse où deux personnes auront porté des enchères identiques par la voix, le geste, ou par téléphone et réclament en même temps le bénéfice de l’adjudication après le coup de marteau, le bien sera immédiatement remis en vente au prix proposé par les derniers enchérisseurs, et tout le public présent pourra porter de nouvelles enchères. b) Pour faciliter la présentation des biens lors de ventes, Artcurial SAS pourra utiliser des moyens vidéos. en cas d’erreur de manipulation pouvant conduire pendant la vente à présenter un bien différent de celui sur lequel les enchères sont portées, Artcurial SAS ne pourra engager sa responsabilité, et sera seul juge de la nécessitéde recommencer les enchères.

5 . PRÉEMPTION DE L’ÉTAT FRANÇAIS L’état français dispose d’un droit de préemption des œuvres vendues conformément aux textes en vigueur.

L’exercice de ce droit intervient immédiatement après le coup de marteau, le représentant de l’état manifestant alors la volonté de ce dernier de se substituer au dernier enchéris-

6 . PROPRIÉTÉ INTELLECTUELLE - REPRODUCTION DES ŒUVRES PROTECTION DES BIENS CULTURELS Artcurial SAS est propriétaire du droit de reproduction de son catalogue. Toute reproduction de celui-ci est interdite et constitue une contrefaçon à son préjudice.

En outre Artcurial SAS dispose d’une dérogation lui permettant de reproduire dans son catalogue les œuvres mises en vente, alors même que le droit de reproduction ne serait pas tombé dans le domaine public.

Toute reproduction du catalogue de Artcurial SAS peut donc constituer une reproduction illicite d’une œuvre exposant son auteur à des poursuites en contrefaçon par le titulaire des droits sur l’œuvre. La vente d’une œuvre n’emporte pas au profit de son propriétaire le droit de reproduction et de présentation de l’œuvre.

Artcurial SAS participe à la protection des biens culturels et met tout en œuvre, dans la mesure de ses moyens, pour s’assurer de la provenance des lots mis en vente dans ce catalogue.

7. BIENS SOUMIS À UNE LÉGISLATION PARTICULIÈRE La réglementation internationale du 3 mars 1973, dite Convention de Washington a pour effet la protection de specimens et d’espèces dits menacés d’extinction.

Les termes de son application diffèrent d’un pays à l’autre. Il appartient à tout acheteur de vérifier, avant d’enchérir, la législation appliquée dans son pays à ce sujet.

Tout lot contenant un élément en ivoire, en palissandre…quelle que soit sa date d’exécution ou son certificat d’origine, ne pourra être importé aux Etast-Unis, au regard de la législation qui y est appliquée. Il est indiqué par un (▲).

8 . RETRAIT DES LOTS L’acquéreur sera lui-même chargé de faire assurer ses acquisitions, et Artcurial SAS décline toute responsabilité quant aux dommages que l’objet pourrait encourir, et ceci dès l’adjudication prononcée. Toutes les formalités et transports restent à la charge exclusive de l’acquéreur.

9 . INDÉPENDANCE DES DISPOSITIONS Les dispositions des présentes conditions générales d’achat sont indépendantes les unes des autres. La nullité de quelque disposition ne saurait entraîner l’inapplicabilité des autres.

10 . COMPÉTENCES LÉGISLATIVE ET JURIDICTIONNELLE Conformément à la loi, il est précisé que toutes les actions en responsabilité civile engagées à l’occasion des prisées et des ventes volontaires et judiciaires de meuble aux enchères publiques se prescrivent par cinq ans à compter de l’adjudication ou de la

CONDITIONS OF PURCHASE IN VOLUNTARY AUCTION SALES ARTCURIAL Artcurial SAS is an operator of voluntary auction sales regulated by the law articles L321-4 and following of the Code de Commerce.

In such capacity Artcurial SAS acts as the agent of the seller who contracts with the buyer. The relationships between Artcurial SAS and the buyer are subject to the present general conditions of purchase which can be modified by saleroom notices or oral indications before the sale, which will be recorded in the official sale record.

1. GOODS FOR AUCTION a) The prospective buyers are invited to examine any goods in which they may be interested, before the auction takes place, and notably during the exhibitions.

Artcurial SAS is at disposal of the prospective buyers to provide them with reports about the conditions of lots. b) Description of the lots resulting from the catalogue, the reports, the labels and the verbal statements or announcements are only the expression by Artcurial SAS of their perception of the lot, but cannot constitute the proof of a fact. c) The statements by made Artcurial SAS about any restoration, mishap or harm arisen concerning the lot are only made to facilitate the inspection thereof by the prospective buyer and remain subject to his own or to his expert’s appreciation. The absence of statements Artcurial SAS by relating to a restoration, mishap or harm, whether made in the catalogue, condition reports, on labels or orally, does not imply that the item is exempt from any current, past or repaired defect.

Inversely, the indication of any defect whatsoever does not imply the absence of any other defects. d) Estimates are provided for guidance only and cannot be considered as implying the certainty that the item will be sold for the estimated price or even within the bracket of estimates.

Estimates cannot constitute any warranty assurance whatsoever.

The estimations can be provided in several currencies ; the conversions may, in this case or, be rounded off differently than the legal rounding

2 . THE SALE a) In order to assure the proper organisation of the sales, prospective buyers are invited to make themselves known to Artcurial SAS before the sale, so as to have their personal identity data recorded.

Artcurial SAS reserves the right to ask any prospective buyer to justify his identity as well as his bank references and to request a deposit.

Artcurial SAS reserves the right to refuse admission to the auction sales premises to any prospective buyer for legitimate reasons. b) Any person who is a bidder undertakes to pay personally and immediately the hammer price increased by the costs to be born by the buyer and any and all taxes or fees/expenses which could be due. Any bidder is deemed acting on his own behalf except when prior notification, accepted by Artcurial SAS, is given that he acts as an agent on behalf of a third party.

c) The usual way to bid consists in attending the sale on the premises. However, Artcurial SAS may graciously accept to receive some bids by telephone from a prospective buyer who has expressed such a request before the sale.

Artcurial SAS will bear no liability / responsability whatsoever, notably if the telephone contact is not made, or if it is made too late, or in case of mistakes or omissions relating to the reception of the telephone. For variety of purposes, Artcurial SAS reserves its right to record all the telephone communications during the auction.

Such records shall be kept until the complete payment of the auction price, except claims. d) Artcurial SAS may accept to execute orders to bid which will have been submitted before the sale and by Artcurial SAS which have been deemed acceptable. Artcurial SAS is entitled to request a deposit which will be refunded within 48hours after the sale if the lot id not sold to this buyer.

Should Artcurial SAS receive several instructions to bid for the same amounts, it is the instruction to bid first received which will be given preference.

Artcurial SAS will bear no liability/responsibility in case of mistakes or omission of performance of the written order. e) In the event where a reserve price has been stipulated by the seller, Artcurial SAS reserves the right to bid on behalf of the seller until the reserve price is reached.

The seller will not be admitted to bid himself directly or through an agent. The reserve price may not be higher than the low estimate for the lot printed in or publicly modified before the sale. f) Artcurial SAS will conduct auction sales at their discretion, ensuring freedom auction and equality among all bidders, in accordance with established practices.

Artcurial SAS reserves the right to refuse any bid, to organise the bidding in such manner as may be the most appropriate, to move some lots in the course of the sale, to withdraw any lot in the course of the sale, to combine or to divide some lots in the course of the sale.

In case of challenge or dispute, Artcurial SAS reserves the right to designate the successful bidder, to continue the bidding or to cancel it, or to put the lot back up for bidding. g) Subject to the decision of the person conducting the bidding for Artcurial SAS, the successful bidder will be the bidder would will have made the highest bid provided the final bid is equal to or higher than the reserve price if such a reserve price has been stipulated.

The hammer stroke will mark the acceptance of the highest bid and the pronouncing of the word “adjugé” or any equivalent will amount to the conclusion of the purchase contract between the seller and the last bidder taken in consideration.

No lot will be delivered to the buyer until full payment has been made.In case of payment by an ordinary draft/check, payment will be deemed made only when the check will have been cashed. h) So as to facilitate the price calculation for prospective buyers, a currency converter may be operated by Artcurial SAS as guidance. Nevertheless, the bidding cannot be made in foreign currency and Artcurial SAS will not be liable for errors of conversion.

3 . THE PERFORMANCE OF THE SALE a) In addition of the lot’s hammer price, the buyer must pay the different stages of following costs and fees/taxes: 1) Lots from the EU : • From 1 to 50 000 euros: 25 % + current VAT. • From 50 001 to 1 200 000 euros: 20 % + current VAT. • Over 1 200 001 euros: 12 % + current VAT. 2) Lots from outside the EU : (identified by an m).In addition to the commissions and taxes indicated above, an additional import fees will be charged (5,5% of the hammer price, 20% for jewelry and watches, motorcars, wines and spirits and multiples).

3) VAT on commissions and import fees can be retroceded to the purchaser on presentation of written proof of exportation outside the EU. An EU purchaser who will submit his intracommunity VAT number and a proof of shipment of his purchase to his EU country home address will be refunded of VAT on buyer’s premium.

The payment of the lot will be made cash, for the whole of the price, costs and taxes, even when an export licence is required.

The purchaser will be authorized to pay by the following means : - In cash : up to 1 000 euros, costs and taxes included, for French citizens and people acting on behalf of a company, up to 15 000 euros, costs and taxes included, for foreign citizens on presentation of their identity papers ; - By cheque drawn on a French bank on presentation of identity papers and for any company, a KBis dated less than 3 months (cheques drawn on a foreign bank are not accepted); - By bank transfer; - By credit card : VISA, MASTERCARD or AMEX (in case of payment by AMEX, a 1,85 % additional commission corresponding to cashing costs will be collected). b) Artcurial SAS will be authorized to reproduce in the official sale record and on the bid summary the information that the buyer will have provided before the sale. The buyer will be responsible for any false information given. Should the buyer have neglected to give his personal information before the sale, he will have to give the necessary information as soon as the sale of the lot has taken place.

Any person having been recorded by Artcurial SAS has a right of access and of rectification to the nominative data provided to Artcurial SAS pursuant to the provisions of Law of the 6 July 1978. c) The lot must to be insured by the buyer immediately after the purchase. The buyer will have no recourse against Artcurial SAS, in the event where, due to a theft, a loss or a deterioration of his lot after the purchase, the compensation he will receive from the insurer of Artcurial SAS would prove unsufficient. d) The lot will be delivered to the buyer only after the entire payment of the price, costs and taxes. If payment is made by cheque, the lot will be delivered after cashing, eight working days after the cheque deposit. In the meantime Artcurial SAS may invoice to the buyer the costs of storage of the lot, and if applicable the costs of handling and transport.

Should the buyer fail to pay the amount due, and after notice to pay has been given by Artcurial SAS to the buyer without success, at the seller’s request, the lot is re-offered for sale, under the French procedure known as

“procédure de folle enchère”. If the seller does not make this request within three months from the date of the sale, the sale will be automatically cancelled, without prejudice to any damages owed by the defaulting buyer.

In addition, Artcurial SAS reserves the right to claim against the defaulting buyer, at their option : - interest at the legal rate increased by five points, - the reimbursement of additional costs generated by the buyer’s default, - the payment of the difference between the initial hammer price and the price of sale after “procédure de folle enchère” if it is inferior as well as the costs generated by the new auction.

Artcurial SAS also reserves the right to set off any amount Artcurial SAS may owe the defaulting buyer with the amounts to be paid by the defaulting buyer.

Artcurial SAS reserves the right to exclude from any future auction, any bidder who has been a defaulting buyer or who has not fulfilled these general conditions of purchase. e) For items purchased which are not collected within seven days from after the sale (Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays included), Artcurial SAS will be authorized to move them into a storage place at the defaulting buyer’s expense, and to release them to same after payment of corresponding costs, in addition to the price, costs and taxes. f) The buyer can obtain upon request a certificate of sale which will be invoiced € 60.

4. THE INCIDENTS OF THE SALE In case of dispute, Artcurial SAS reserves the right to designate the successful bidder, to continue the sale or to cancel it or to put the lot up for sale. a) In case two bidders have bidden vocally, by mean of gesture or by telephone for the same amount and both claim title to the lot, after the bidding the lot, will immediately be offered again for sale at the previous last bid, and all those attending will be entitled to bid again. b) So as to facilitate the presentation of the items during the sales, Artcurial SAS will be able to use video technology.

Should any error occur in operation of such, which may lead to show an item during the bidding which is not the one on which the bids have been made, Artcurial SAS shall bear no liability/responsability whatsoever, and will have sole discretion to decide whether or not the bidding will take place again.

5 . PRE-EMPTION OF THE FRENCH STATE The French state in entitled to use a right of pre-emption on works of art, pursuant to the rules of law in force.

The use of this right comes immediately after the hammer stroke, the representative of the French state expressing then the intention of the State to substitute for the last bidder, provided he confirms the pre-emption decision within fifteen days.

Artcurial SAS will not bear any liability/ responsibility for the conditions of the pre-emption by the French State.

6 . INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHT - COPYRIGHT The copyright in any and all parts of the catalogue is the property of Artcurial SAS. Any reproduction thereof is forbidden and will be considered as counterfeiting to their detriment.

Furthermore, Artcurial SAS benefits from a legal exception allowing them to reproduce the lots for auction sale in their catalogue, even though the copyright protection on an item has not lapsed.

Any reproduction of Artcurial SAS catalogue may therefore constitute an illegal reproduction of a work which may lead its perpetrator to be prosecuted for counterfeiting by the holder of copyright on the work.The sale of a work of art does not transfer to its buyer any reproduction or representation rights thereof.

7 . ITEMS FALLING WITHIN THE SCOPE OF SPECIFIC RULES The International regulation dated March 3rd 1973, protects endangered species and specimen. Each country has its own lawmaking about it. Any potential buyer must check before bidding, if he is entitled to import this lot within his country of residence.

Any lot which includes one element in ivory, rosewood…cannot be imported in the United States as its legislation bans its trade whatever its dating may be. It is indicated by a (▲).

8. REMOVAL OF PURCHASES The buyer has to insure its purchase, and Artcurial SAS assumes no liability for any damage items which may occur after the sale.
