By the time 2017 rolled around, the shine was already off AMC’s The Walking Dead. It had been almost a year since the controversial arrival of Negan and his murdering of Glenn. That proved to be a major turning point for the casual fans of the show. Even though it took place exactly as in the books, the brutality of watching it live seemed to turn off many fans. A full year later, the buzz was gone and people had moved on. As the show zombie walked towards its 100th episode, it was almost like no one cared.

HEADLOCKED

Headlocked Comics started out over a decade ago as a tiny, grass roots, independent publisher aimed at wrestling fans. Their initial offering toiled in obscurity until 2010 when they partnered with Jerry “The King” Lawler.

With The King lending the brand some credibility, they have grown in leaps and bounds releasing over-the-top wrestling stories with covers that are an homage to some of the greatest covers in the history of comics.

They have become one of the hottest destinations in most cons by having photo ops and meet and greets with past and present wrestlers while also pushing out new stories featuring the individual talents. At NYCC 17, Christian, Lita, Diamond Dallas Page, Tommy Dreamer, and Sting all had a presence at their booth.
