While this book debuted in 2016, two hurricanes hit Puerto Rico in September 2017—so close to NYCC—and brought a lot of energy to supporting the project. Edgardo Miranda-Rodriguez has raised close to a quarter of a million dollars for grass roots organizations in Puerto Rico via the La Borinqueña Grants Program. Recently, La Borinqueña has been raising money to fund masks for front line workers.
