IT’S ALL YOURS The other day I decided to clip back vines coming from who knows where. As I reached out to untangle one string from a sunflower, I realized there was a giant praying mantis perched upside down. The only one I’d ever seen before was dead on our steps, like maybe a cat left it as a gift. For four days I watched the praying mantis. I was also watching my one pumpkin. Then I realized it looked like something had been eating it. I watered the plants. Bug covered the now wet pumpkin. Tinier bugs cover the blossoms. Meanwhile, I did buy the bulbs from Issue 99 but ran out of space in pots, so I planted two bulbs in the ground. An animal dug them up immediately. —MV
