Mega-Pixels This camera has 10.1 mega-pixels. This means you can take high quality photographs . The “pixel” in “mega-pixel” means picture element a picture element is one small dot. This is what digital photographs are made up of. If a camera has one pixel, it is made up of one million picture elements. So, the higher the pixel count, the higher the quality of the photo will be. Therefore, making the digital camera more expansive if it has a high amount of mega-pixels.
Ten point one megapixels is a very high amount of megapixels. This is why you can buy the camera from new for £400 £600 ($600-$900) How much megapixels does my camera need?
If you were looking for a camera that could take photos to place in an e-mail, or embed in a personal blog/website, you should probably get a camera that has a 1-3 megapixel count. If you were looking for a camera that could take high-quality photos for printing, you should buy a camera with a 4-6 megapixel count. If you were looking for a camera that could take photos to zoom in on objects of great distances, you should buy a camera with a 7+ pixel count. But, these cameras can be pricey. Digic Processor The Canon EOS 1000D has a digic processor this helps make the quality of the lens much more professional. Canon's DIGIC processor is a high-performance LSI chip. It uses unique architecture to make the image processing much, much more faster. This uses algorithms developed by Canon. The DIGIC Processor helps to reduce the problem of false colours. It also prevents noise during long exposures. It provides a higher resolution signal output for the LCDmonitor. It has improved video capturing technology, Face detection and Motion Detection technology.

AF (Auto-Focus) Face Detector
The Canon EOS 1000D has an auto focus feature. This allows the camera to focus on the correct person/object. As you can see in the image (above) it also has a face-detector (it recognises the face of the toy giraffe) It recognises the face of the person/image by the DIGIC 4 Processor (see page 2) This is also how the Auto focus works.

Detachable Lenses. This outstanding model from Canon allows you to detach the lenses from the camera and at tach another lens. Many people would want many dif ferent lenses for their camera. The reason for this is to take dif ferent photos from dif ferent distances and also to take photographs of dif ferent sizes.
VERY CLOSE-UP TO A FLY
You can buy many dif ferent lenses, but what should you really be buying? The standard Digital SLR has a lens that falls between 40mm-55mm (most generally are 50mm) this is just for normal photographs. However, if you want to take a photo of a really tiny insect or bug etc (like the fly left, above) you should buy a macro lens. These are specially designed to take photographs (1:1) from as close as 2 inches. These are ideal for close-up photographs. They generally come in focal lengths between 50mm and 180mm. Wide-length lenses are ideal for the person to take photographs of landscapes.
