ACT - Advanced Colour Theory
• TWO assignments (A1, A2), in this scheme are to be used to generate students first assessment levels. • The Scheme should last approx 2 Terms/ 14 weeks.
ACT - Advanced Colour Theory OVERVIEW: AIMS: • The aim of the (ACT) project, is to ensure that all students learn, understand and gain experience of the use of colour and its affects/ causes within art. • Students will investigate and learn about 'Colour Theory' by using 'Primary' colour, and creating/ using their own 'Secondary' and 'Tertiary' colours. • A test will help students embed skills, knowledge and understanding, and also serve as an important part of the year 7 assessment process. DEVELOPMENT: • Through a series of sketchbook tasks, students will make their own colours, and practice their brushwork/ painting skills. • A series of colour studies, conducted in sketchbooks will allow students to use colour(s) thoughtfully and in a controlled fashion. OUTCOME(s): Throughout the project the skills learnt and developed, will help the students complete a set test on colour theory, as well as create a range of sketchbook development studies: A1: ACT - TEST: This 1hr test is to be conducted under test/ controlled conditions. The test will include a series of questions and activities that will help determine students level of understanding and ability of applying knowledge and skills during practical elements of the test. • Following the test, students will create a range of 'full-page' sketchbook outcomes, that explore how different colours work with each other, and mood/ atmosphere can be achieved through colour choice • A2: Colour Painting: This will be the students 2nd assessed item of work in this project. For this assignment students will have the opportunity to create a painting by using 'Colour Theory'. The subject of the students painting could be of anything (free choice), however, in the scheme below there is a suggested subject matter which students should/ could adopt for this work. •
