A visit to Pralinen Heller in Oberursel
We visited ‘Pralinen Heller’ in Oberursel, on site. Inspired by chocolate making, we offer the perfect packaging for homemade chocolates and pralines. This is where business customers will also find the perfect gift with a personal touch. Which pralines/chocolates are your favourites for the spring of 2016? Are there great new varieties? Inspired by my daughter Anna-Sophia, the ‘birthday praline’ is one of my highlights in spring: Alpaco ganache truffle. Which pralines/chocolates do you prefer to give as a gift? Classic cream truffles with milk, dark and white chocolate. Do you make any ‘specials’? We made a Mozart praline for the Mozart Festival in Würzburg in summer 2015 - especially for this occasion. Café ganache with almond nougat. Those who like personalised gifts can also order pralines and cakes from us for special occasions, e.g. weddings, anniversaries, confirmations. Here, we are happy to advise you personally. Where do the ideas for new chocolate creations come from? On the one hand we are inspired by our couverture supplier from France. Travelling to Paris and our own, unusual ideas make our range unique. Do you provide training? If so, for which occupations? Yes. We currently have four trainees as confectioners and retailers. For more information about the art of confectionery and the range offered by Pralinen Heller, visit www.heller-pralinen.de.

OF RETRO TRENDS, BRANDS, MARKETING AND – MOTORBIKES 3 years ago, after many years and reflections, I bought a motorbike again. A racer was not on the cards, nor anything colourful with lots of plastic. It did not have anything to do with reason, but rather a vague longing. It should be something ‘honest’, just as I remembered from my motorcycling days: It has to rattle, you have to feel the vibration and sense the wind when you travel ... As the bikers say “4 wheels move your body 2 wheels move your soul”.

(2) Finally – and following the visits to various dealers which were sheer shopping paradise – I opted for a Triumph Bonneville. Besides, as I feel, one of the finest retro bikes, totally appealed to me and addressed the company’s history. Again and again, I meant to discover parallels with my own company: A German emigrant founded a trading company in London in 1884 (exactly 100 years before ARTEBENE) – initially for bicycles and sewing machines. At the same time, the TRIUMPH brand name was consciously chosen: you can say it around the world and in doing so, it even sounds like success. The motorcycles were the cornerstone of the business and it was indeed a triumph, as the brand evolved. The model name of the Triumph Bonneville was found following a world speed record for motorcycles

Ma tters of the hear t VA L E N T I N E ’ S D AY
A personal love letter puts the icing on the cake on the next Valentine‘s Day and revitalises the relationship. It comes down to the gesture, so that even less creative people can dare to pick up a pen. Love letters for Valentine‘s Day are a centuries old tradition. A handwritten love letter always hits the heart. Over time, the importance of love letters for Valentine‘s Day has decreased significantly. Today, instead of hand written words, an e-mail greetings card or an SMS is sent at most. However, precisely this fact means that you can score points with a personally written love letter on the next Valentine‘s Day. In the UK and the USA, lovers send so-called ‘Valentine Greetings’ in the form of beautiful greeting cards. There is not much space for great expressions of love, so most people restrict themselves to just a few lines. Take this tradition as an opportunity to write a love letter to your favourite person as well - joy is guaranteed.

Mother’s Da y
G R E AT G I F T I D E A S W H I C H ARE GUARANTEED TO GO DOWN WELL We want our mums to feel particularly good, especially on Mother’s Day! Instead of only running a hot bath in order to relax, an individual feel-good gift goes down much better: e.g. a homemade scrub or soap.
Homemade scrub Products that you can buy in the chemist usually contain fragrances and preservatives. These can quickly lead to allergies, especially for sensitive skin. In the case of homemade scrubs, you can choose the ingredients according to your mother’s needs – it is best to only use natural ingredients. Salt or sugar? For particularly sensitive or dry skin, fine sugar is recommended because this dissolves more rapidly when rubbed in and as such, causes less irritation. Salt disinfects, so it makes particular sense to use it on impure and oily skin. Which oil? Coconut oil is especially suitable for dry skin because it moisturises and at the same time, it has good cleaning properties. However, it has a somewhat solid consistency and before applying to the skin, it has to be briefly heated. Olive oil is a skincare classic! It reduces friction
20 MAGAZINE BY ARTEBENE
and ensures re-moisturising of the skin. As such, after showering no additional body lotion is necessary. Almond oil is suitable for all skin types as it is very mild and inherently cares for the skin. Sunflower oil is not only a cost-effective alternative when shallow frying; it has a similar composition to olive oil, and is therefore suitable for use on the face. Basically any vegetable oil is good for the skin; only baby oil should be avoided. This contains mineral oil, which cannot be absorbed by the skin and thus clogs pores. Which fragrance? As the scrub is supposed to be a very special gift and the mixture of oil and sugar/salt is relatively odourless, you should apply a pleasant fragrance to the entire mixture. This is where a few drops of perfume oil (not fragrance oil!) work miracles. Lavender, rose, vanilla or lotus fragrances can be used (available in pharmacies or well stocked organic supermarkets).
And you’re ready to go: 1. First of all, you need an appropriate container for the scrub. An empty jam jar, for example, is perfect. It is best to clean in well with boiling water. 2. Following this, fill the container 2/3 with salt or sugar in order to estimate the right ratio. 3. Now add a few drops of the fragrance into a large bowl. This way, you can control the intensity of the scent better. 4. Add salt or sugar and mix with the oil. The consistency of the scrub should be such that there is still something that is gritty while stirring. The mixture should not be too liquid, when smoothing, a light layer of oil should form. 5. The jar can now be filled with the scrub. As this should be a special gift, the jar can be decorated. For example, you can use cute stickers or beautiful gift ribbons from ARTEBENE.
