MARINA ART

Tessalation In this project I created a design that would tessellate. I enjoyed coming up with a design; I did various drafts before I came to a design I liked. What was a challenge for me was to copy the design over and over. I was was happy with my end result. In this example of my art work I used repetition, I copied my desgin over and over again.

Bag Tessellation In this project I came up with a design and then copied on on a canvas tote bag repeating it many times. The bag tessellation took me much longer to accomplish. What I found difficult was to transfer the design from the paper to the canvas tote bag. I like my center design a lot, but for the other repeating design that encircles the center in the end, I didn’t feel that it really united with the whole design. I improved on the skill of copying and repeating my tessellation over and over. I also have gotten better at tracing and drawing on canvas.

Can Design This is my design for a limited edition can. I used a lot of color and I used all the colors in harmony with each other. The principles of art that I used were emphasis- I really made the black flower of my design stand out, repetition- I repeated the flower petals over and over and harmonyI made my designs unite and unite and create a harmonious piece of art. I felt happy when I was doing this art piece because all the color that I used just really stood out and brightened my day. While working on learned a skill, using color better, harmony and emphasis. Word Art The idea of the Word Art was to create a piece of artwork that had a word hidden in it. In other words, my art work reflected on the word snakes. I first drew and colored in the snakes, then I cut them out and pasted them on a piece of paper where I worked on the leafy background. This took me a lot of time but in the end I was really proud of my work.

Harmony Harmony in a visual design all parts of the desgin relate and complement each elements.

Unity Unity is the relationship between the elements that unites them all as one visual design.

Repetition Repetition is the use of similar or connected graphics e.g. same shape, color or lines that repeated over and over.

Balance Balance in desgin is the equal distribution of elements across the desgin. It is the concept of visual equilibrium. Visual balance works the same way as a balance beam except in art it is affected by not only the size of the objects but also their lightness, darkness, color shape etc.

Emphasis Emphasis is importance, value given to something. In design there is usually a focal point that draws your attention when you first look at the picture. Take a look at these photos to the right and try to find the focal point.
