She hopes this will expose mental illnesses and take them out of the taboo sphere. SARAH MACKINNON IG: @sarahmackinnon.art Sarah MacKinnon is a multi-disciplinary artist from Los Angeles living in Athens, Greece. With a background working in technology, she is interested in where the organic meets the inorganic in painting. While working in Athens, Sarah calls upon Carl Jung’s belief that the sacred site of the Acropolis creates an energetic orbit called a “Temenos” wherein “an encounter with the unconscious can be had…[and] be safely brought into the light of consciousness.” This intersection is the locus of Sarah’s work as she strives to map out the relationship between the ethereal and the mundane. Her more abstract work flows from the very real anxieties of a modern life ruled by computers, wherein her representational art aims to capture the physical reality of these tenuous technological anxieties.

Besides creating art books and collages, she also creates objects and assemblages, using materials such as wires, fur, and wax. Further, it is lead by experiencing resonance and tension between her inner and the outer world. She is inspired by artists such as Louise Bourgeois, Paul Klee and dadaism art by Kurt Schwitters.

THOMÉ thelosthealer@gmail.com The idea behind this artwork is to challenge our beliefs of what art is supposed to look like. We live in a world of perfection and our heads are filled with all kinds of ideals on things. These ideals can get in the way of expressing ourselves freely and pursuing what we love. But what we should be getting aware of again is that art is just self-expression. There's no right or wrong in regards to art. Art is multifaceted. This piece of art is supposed to remind the viewer of that. Furthermore, the artist's intention was for people to remember that if you look at things with love, everything turns to art eventually.
