Hawksley Workman is not afraid to be strange. After over a decade in the business, this hyper-prolific, perpetually restless creative force continues to push the boundaries of experience and the heights of his successes well outside the comfort zone. His recent release, Old Cheetah, ends a five-year hiatus from solo recordings. Since Hawksley last released an album, he has found himself back behind the drums with Mounties, an indie rock supergroup that gained considerable traction at alternative radio and capped off an impressive debut album run with the Emerging Artist of the Year award at the 2014 SiriusXM Indies. He also developed a one-mancabaret theatre performance called The God That Comes, which continues to draw rave reviews, sold out crowds, and international attention. Hawksley’s touring career has seen him play nearly a thousand shows in over 15 countries. He’s headlined prestigious venues like Massey Hall in Toronto and The Olympia in Paris, as well as opening for heroes Morrissey, David Bowie, and The Cure. As an actor Workman has appeared in films such as Score, a Hockey Musical, Youkali Hotel, and Stormy Weather. Beyond his own solo work, Hawksley has written songs for many fêted artists including legends Johnny Hallyday and Jane Birkin.
As a soloist, Andrew made his debut with the Toronto Symphony at the age of seventeen and went on to perform with countless orchestras under the batons of Sir Andrew Davis, Yannick Nezet-Seguin, Jukka-Pekka Saraste, and Pinchas Zukerman to name a few. He has performed throughout Canada, the United States, and Europe as both soloist and chamber musician and for over twenty years Andrew had an ongoing collaboration with modern dancer Peggy Baker. In 1998, Andrew founded the Art of Time Ensemble, which is committed to reaching across borders that separate artistic genres and audiences. Andrew has recorded for CBC SM5000, Naxos, Centerdisc and Opening Day labels, and is a faculty member at the Glenn Gould School. phil dw yer Phil Dwyer burst on the jazz scene in Canada and internationally, in his late teens as a saxophone prodigy. He studied with Steve Grossman and David Liebman. He also played at the Bottom Line nightclub with Kenny Barron, Buster Williams, Lenny White and Steve Grossman, as well as at the Willow in Boston with Terri Lyne Carrington. In 2013 Dwyer was appointed as a Member of the Order Of Canada, in recognition of an illustrious 30-year career that has crossed stylistic and geographic borders and has included collaborations with a storied roster of great musical artists.
