Miguel Souto ı Open Desk Bench
‘Opendesk is an online marketplace that hosts independently designed furniture and connects its customers to local makers around the world.’ Keeping the briefing criteria, my final proposal focuses on the design of a plywood bench, which can be manufactured digitally with CNC technology globally. The bench can be used in public or private spaces with an easy assembly system and minimizing the use of plywood panels. Even if the plain plywood is a valid finishing for this piece I decided to paint each panel with different colours. I took this references from the dutch avant garde movement The Stijl, that in the first quarter of the last century introduced a singular language of using colours into artwork, furniture and architecture projects. The use of primary colours dominated their projects and I thouk was an appropriate choice for the bench.
