CONTEMPORARY ART FAIR

ART SAN DIEGO 2013 with presenting sponsor UBS Financial Services presents its 5th Edition. The theme of this year is [ COLLIDE ] which comments on different types of creative intersections – cross-disciplinary, cross-national, from art to film, from street to urban – and how they manifest in both a visual and social setting.

ART SAN DIEGO 2013 hopes to provide a new spin on the Art Fair Concept – offering attendees a more interactive environment to explore. Traditional exhibition design is co-mingled with public and performance spaces – many of these spaces call on the attendees to participate or engage in an immersive experience. The Center Lounge of the Fair, has been designed by students from the New School of Architecture & Design and designers from Noble Environmental Technologies, using a product called ECOR (from recycled materials). This collaboration offers an excellent opportunity to disregard the traditional attempts at cooperation in design and embrace the inherent differences between the designers to affect the ART SAN DIEGO 2013 theme of [ COLLIDE ]. This impact of ideas will result in a tangible and interactive pixilation for the center lounge of the fair that acts as the PULSE – promoting movement, exchange, and opportunities for collision.

In addition to the numerous local and international artists presented, we offer several established ASD Programs. Spotlight + LaunchPad Program, gives collectors a focused look at several cutting-edge artists and designers who will create site-specific Solo Exhibitions at the Fair. Art Labs feature Special Curated Projects by several leading San Diego-based art institutions, alternative spaces, and universities within the Fair. Art Labs + San Diego Art Prize showcase the thriving art landscape of San Diego.
