It was his work creating large-scale water features that allowed Grant to relinquish control as an artist, and embrace the unpredictable qualities of the mediums he works with. The tactile and variable nature of glass is what has drawn Grant to working with fused glass. From tacky to molten and all points in between, Grant enjoys the infinite possibilities that glass can offer.

VanGo

brings art to all VanGo is a community outreach program that provides students in rural towns—with limited access to professional-level arts education—the ability to build skills in various art disciplines. VanGo, a colorfully decorated Honda Element, is a mobile art studio complete with an art instructor and supplies. With a strong art menu and teaching artists who foster a love and appreciation of the arts, students of all ages can experience the benefits of high quality arts education. VanGo can assist non-profit service agencies and community organizations with educational goals by introducing the joys and benefits of self-expression and creative problem-solving through art. In addition to working with younger audiences, VanGo provides an artistic option for adult audiences at assisted living facilities, or creative activities for team-building exercises and professional development opportunities. To date, VanGo has traveled to 30 sites in four counties reaching over 2200 underserved children and youth. In the spring of 2013, VanGo worked with the afterschool programs for La Pine Parks and Recreation, Jefferson County Kids Club in Madras, and MA Lynch Elementary in Redmond. Thanks to grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and US Bank, students throughout the region practiced skills in drawing, painting, print making, and digital photography with teaching artists Kyla Danos, Doug Bowser, and Alisha Mann. For more information on bringing VanGo programming to your community site or organization, please contact Tracy Alexander, Art Station Manager, at 541.617.1317.
