Message from Station Manager… "Park Radio means an awful lot to me and, with the team of 50 or so volunteers, the station is in good shape to face the many challenges. Remember we have the community behind us as we have shown how focused we have been in providing a vital service across Diss, Harleston and Eye - we have well and truly earned our place on the dial and in peoples’ affections. It's a wonderful legacy that has made a difference to many people lives both inside the organisation and beyond. Having jumped through many hoops to have successfully been given a further five year license to 2027, which was a real challenge, it makes what we do at Park Radio even more important to the team and our listeners. I’m very proud of what has been achieved by a very talented team of people during the last 11 years. Park Radio is something special and should be cherished by the communities it's licensed to serve." Chris Moyse
Outside Broadcasts and more! Never wanting to standstill, Park Radio staged its first ever three hour totally LIVE show from outside our studios on Friday October 8th. Our Mid Morning programme was transmitted live from the Mere’s Mouth in Diss from 9am, with guest interviews and features. Our first OB from Diss was such a huge success we plan to do more very soon! As part of our monthly Village Voice feature, we descend on a village in the Waveney Valley in the Park Radio MG and, along with Parky Bear, we spread cheer and goodies! We have already stopped off in Hoxne, Wortham, Harleston & Eye – your village could be next! If you would like us to come and see you, please either email chris@parkradio.co.uk or call us 01379 21 00 00
Award-winning Station Adopters Another very proud moment for Park Radio as we recently picked up a Highly-Commended award from Greater Anglia for our work at Diss Railway station. There are 120 stations now with adopters across the GA patch too - so we feel very pleased to have been recognised. The annual event was held at Ipswich Town FC. Thanks for all of you who have commented on the team’s hard work.
South Norfolk Covid-19 Community Champions Award On July 26th South Norfolk Council held a very special reception to recognise the contribution that Park Radio had made to the community, particularly during COVID-19. Eighteen of the 50 volunteers attended the reception held at the Diss Corn Hall – yet another very proud moment for the station. We were all so delighted, and quite taken aback, to have been nominated to receive the award. Our aim was to lift spirits and keep our listeners informed and entertained during lock-down. Local radio, we feel, plays a vital role during times of crisis.
