Vanderven Oriental Art was founded in 1968 as a general antiques business by Clemens van der Ven and his sister Bea. When Bea left in 1972 , his wife Neeltje van der Ven, (who also had a background in antiques) joined the firm. After a few years they decided to specialise in Asian Art. In 1993, nephew Floris van der Ven also become part of this family-run business. Today Vanderven Oriental Art is considered one of the worlds leading international dealers in the field of Chinese export porcelain and early terracotta.
As one of its founding fathers, Clemens van der Ven was instrumental in the establishment of one of the best art and antiques fair in the world: TEFAF Maastricht and also the national antiques fair Pan Amsterdam.
