NEWS BRIEF CERTIFICATION PROGRAM FOR ARTIST HOUSING IN NEW ROCHELL The City of New Rochelle recently launched an artist certification program that aims to connect artists with new live/work housing opportunities in its downtown arts & cultural district. Certified artists will be given preference for these opportunities, often at more affordable rates. To encourage this initiative, the City’s Industrial Development Agency provides incentives to new development projects that incorporate live/work spaces for artists. To apply, individuals must complete an application and provide required documents.

NEWS BRIEF IN MEMORIAM: JUDITH MATSON
Arts advocate Judy Matson recently passed away. During her lifetime, she gave generously of herself to many causes, including the arts. Her illustrious career demonstrated her passion for the arts, and her belief in its importance. She served as the director of cultural affairs and special projects for Westchester in the 1980s with County Executive Andrew O’Rourke, before which she held an administrative position at the Hudson River Museum. She was a board member at ArtsWestchester, and worked with the organization during the O’Rourke administration to secure more funding for arts activities. Later, as an executive at Fujifilm, she brought significant philanthropic support to the arts and parks in Westchester.
