“I’m a fine arts artist deriving inspiration from the renaissance painters. The impressionist movement has also inspired me to evolve my style and experiment. I have dabbled with surrealism, abstract and developed different techniques which has brought me to where I am today.
I now create awareness of climate change through works which depict natural disasters and show the beauty and deterioration of our beloved mother earth”.
WHAT IS YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS?
“To depict my climate change works, my main influence is Color. Color together with a technique i have invented. This enables me to portray what I’m trying to say in a poignant and sometimes distressing way”.
HOW AND WHEN DID YOU DISCOVER YOU WANTED TO BE AN ARTIST?
“According to my mother, I was already trying to make things with whatever was within my reach and drawing stuff on the wall since the age of two. I was fascinated by nature in all its forms and wanted to portray my love of it.
Unfortunately, art was not a career that I was allowed to pursue. However, my parents encouraged me to attain a career, and I chose teaching, which would allow me to practice my art”.
WHAT MESSAGE DOES YOUR WORK TRANSMIT TO YOUR AUDIENCE?
“Perhaps through all our efforts, one day, it will dawn upon humankind that squandering our resources is not the answer. Instead, we will work in harmony with nature, appreciating our world’s beauty and grandeur by caring for it as we should”.
HAS ANY PART OF YOUR STORY INFLUENCED WHAT YOU DO NOW?
“The beautiful galleries and exhibitions I have visited during my travels have sometimes moved me to tears, especially the `Birth of Venus at the Uffizi Gallery in Florence, amongst others”.
