A Message from our Editor-in-Chief Dear readers, This issue has been the most beautiful, fulfilling, and exciting challenge of the year! Creating a publication that reaches over two million readers in two hundred and five countries usually comes with its own set of challenges. Creating international content. Making sure no content is offensive to any culture (worldwide) so that our artist's message gets through. Ensuring that the language is universal enough that everyone can understand—remaining aware of inclusion to get as many countries represented as possible—orchestrating over fifty creative minds involved in the creation of each issue to meet deadlines. And, above all, choosing and inviting top artists to feature. This issue, though, came with added challenges. Sharing a message of healing, standing for social justice and human rights, and doing it in a way that would not exclude anyone. When you read the pages of "Art as a Healing Force," I hope that you're able to recognize that message because YOU are valuable and relevant, and your opinion matters. My dream and vision are of one world where we all love and respect one another. I see it as a reality that can happen and not as some faraway, unreachable dream. Whether it happens in my lifetime or my granddaughter's lifetime makes no difference, as long as it happens. But we must work towards it. At this moment in history, I feel the strong need to be on the right side of justice. I cannot promote healing and stay silent about injustice. This goes beyond boundaries and serves as a universal message that needs to be shared and lived as one heart. This is the moment of oneness for which we have been waiting for, which can start a ripple healing effect. Healing our world starts within each one of us. There must be justice and compassion, beyond any political preference, or side of the aisle you're sitting. There must be love for one another, beyond religious beliefs. This is the moment to restore our principles, the core values of our society, who we are as individuals, who we are as entities, and what we are willing to live or die for. I follow the voice within my heart that wants to denounce injustice and discrimination because my ancestors' voices tell me to take a stand—for them, for us, for our children, and the future of humanity. Join us to promote peace, awareness, justice, equality, inclusion, love, and the power of healing arts.

“Taking A Stand for Social Justice”

by Tiarra Tompkins

In the past, Viviana Puello has used her fashion choices to honor the heritage of her ancestors. From native-inspired feathers, African Fabrics, and her line of Pre-Colombian Jewelry. Now, she's using her extended platform to send out a clear message: Black Lives Matter. 8

Suffering and discrimination are as old as time. For many immigrant families that have made their way to America seeking freedom from persecution in their homeland, the battle of Black Lives Matter is one close to their hearts. Born to a mixed-race family with backgrounds from Spain, Africa, and Native South American, Viviana Puello has made it her mission to stand for every ethnicity. Her heritage and familial origins have given her a frontrow seat to the suffering and discrimination that continues to plague the world. The story of oppression and segregation continues to repeat itself, giving strong women like Puello a platform to bridge the gap between our divided yet shared human history. "My paternal grandfather was of African descendant, my grandmother's family from Spain and my maternal grandparents were natives, South American. When our family gathers together, we get all the colors of the rainbow. Every gene in me has made me who I am, my ancestors walk with me every step, and I honor every one of them". Puello's hometown, Cartagena de Indias, is rich in history and culture. Strolling through the city, it is impossible to miss groups of women dressed in colorful skirts and turbans. They carry large baskets of traditional treats and tropical fruits balanced on their heads to sell throughout the market. These women are the famous Palenqueras, icons of Cartagena's history. "As a native, I have always admired these strong women who come to Cartagena each day from their village, Palenque, about fifty miles away, to meet tourists and sell their goods. Their dedication to keeping their traditions and culture alive has earned them a special place in my heart." Puello's deep connection with the history of her hometown is part of her passion for seeing peace restored to everyone, all over the world. A living testament of black history of struggle is the village of San Basilio de Palenque, founded by Benkos Biohó, a leader who commanded a rebellion of runaway slaves in the New Kingdom of Granada in the 17th century, becoming king of the free people of San Basilio de Palenque.

Located about an hour and a half south of Cartagena de Indias, in the foothills of the Montes de María, the village is inhabited by AfroColombians, direct descendants of the African slaves brought there by the Europeans during the Colonization of the Americas. These descendants have preserved their ancestral traditions and developed their own language: Palenquero (aka, Spanish Creole"), a mix of the African Kikongo language, Spanish, and Portuguese. San Basilio de Palenque has a population of about 3,500 inhabitants. The word "palenque" means "walled city," and San Basilio de Palenque was the first of many walled communities, founded by escaped slaves as a refuge in the seventeenth century. Of the many palenques created by escaped slaves that once existed, San Basilio is the only one that remains.

At the beginning of the sixteenth century, the most significant source of wealth from the Spanish colonies in America did not come from gold or silver but sugarcane. This crop required extensive and virgin lands, as well as abundant working hands. These working hands were taken from Africa and brought to work the sugarcane plantations. The rise of slavery and the emergence of a new socioeconomic structure that depended upon the work of the slaves spurred the regulation of this abominable practice. Spaniards introduced kidnapped African slaves in South America through the important port of Cartagena de Indias, where ships full of Africans arrived. The first Africans were transported to Colombia in the 1520s, and the first slave revolt happened only a decade later, becoming a common occurrence at regular intervals over the next three hundred years. Benkos Biohó, alleged to be an African king, was brought as a slave to Cartagena in 1599. He promptly escaped into the swampy jungles surrounding the city with many followers. They settled in the Serranía de San Jacinto mountains, fighting battles and freeing slaves from the city of Cartagena and the passing boats. Biohó and his followers then took them to the refuge of the fortress, which Biohó founded in 1603. San Basilio de Palenque became the symbol of freedom since every person who became part of a palenque was automatically free. An interesting fact that locals in the village share, is that women’s braids were not only used as maps to lead people to the free town but also used as a transportation method for seeds. The excellence of Palenque cooking was recognized on the global stage at the Gourmand World Cookbook Awards in 2014, held in Beijing, China. More than 15,000 cookbooks written by culinary stars from 184 countries entered into the awards, including a cookbook written in San Basilio de Palenque called Kumina ri Palenge pa tó paraje. Thirty-eight people from the Palenque shared their ancestral secrets and wrote recipes for the book, which was published in the palenque language. The book won the top prize at the awards, nicknamed the 'Oscar for Gastronomy.’ Photo Viviana Puello © Copyright 2019 ArtTour International Publications.

The free lands of San Basilio de Palenque were founded more than two hundred years before Colombia achieved independence from Spain. A “capitulation of peace” was signed between the Spaniards and the former slaves in 1603. While, in 1713, the Spanish crown issued a Royal Decree that officially freed the people of the palenque from slavery. Their culture and traditions have survived intact, a major reason that UNESCO declared San Basilio de Palenque a Masterpiece of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity in 2005. It’s a unique place, where gastronomy, language, music, culture, medicine, and societal organization have a rare and unique significance. San Basilio de Palenque is a village without a police force. It is organized into groups called ma-kuagro, a system of rights and duties that ensures that citizens watch out for one another. The Cimarrona Guard work for the community’s overall welfare and the ma-kuagro manages community matters such as the lumablú. The lumablú is a funeral ceremony that lasts nine days, with songs, dances, and feasts in honor of the deceased. On the final day, a pechiche drum sounds a final farewell. The history in Viviana Puello's native city, Cartagena de Indias, Colombia, is a testimony of times of injustice and race discrimination but also of resilience. Puello feels a strong connection to her native ancestors, the Calamaris, a pre-Colombian indigenous ethnic group of the area that was exterminated by the Spaniards who build the city. Lives lost and a culture nearly obliterated because people were seen as weak and disposable.

"It is our responsibility to stand for social justice. My city was built by kidnapped and enslaved Africans who were taken from their native land. Despite the efforts to destroy our native culture and people, history is alive in the streets of Cartagena and in a town called San Basilio de Palenque. This victory is what we seek, and we stand with social justice to see freedom restored. The only way to heal our world is with peace, equality, love, inclusion, and honoring human rights. And that starts with each one of us.” San Basilio de Palenque has preserved its culture, and with it the gastronomy, language, music, culture, medicine, and societal organization of their people. It serves as a testimony of human perseverance and the strength of those who gave everything for freedom and justice, not only for themselves but also for their future generations. It is proof that we can surpass the destruction, suffering, and subjugation that has plagued the vast majority of our shared human history. "My dream and vision are of one world where we all love and respect one another. I see it as a reality that can happen and not as some faraway, unreachable dream. Whether it happens in my lifetime or my granddaughter's lifetime makes no difference, as long as it happens. But we must work towards it. Howard Harris

“Every Shifting Realities”

T

by Viviana Puello

he cover of this special issue features the mesmerizing work of American Master artist Howard Harris. Harris brilliantly combines technology and art to expand the viewer's experience. Working on detailed dimensional images, he displays his work on various layers of acrylic and metals. Harris' work traces to his skills in visual art, chaos theory, and quantum physics. He is creating a unique experience for every viewer. His award-winning multi-dimensional mixed media pieces blend elements of physics and mathematics. Harris, "Visual reality is an ever-shifting, highly individualized experience," and his goal is to create an intimate connection with each viewer. Harris endeavors to create art that embodies essential universal principles of design that produce qualities we perceive as beauty. His layered artworks reflect shifts of light, and create visual illusions, presenting our eyes and minds with perceptual dreamlike scenes. Surrealism meets holographic fractals—a true play for the eyes and mind. Influenced by both Op Art and chaos theory, Howard Harris creates expressive possibilities in photographic art in his own words "in an attempt to recreate the perceptual experience, with its dynamic nature and hidden complexities". His works are kaleidoscopes of visual movement as if the image could shift before your eyes: blooms of colors shimmering across a rhythmic space. In

some of his 3-dimensional pieces, Harris gives his pictures a sculptural effect, layering the work using transparent acrylic surfaces superimposed and shaped by the artist. The images gain dimension, and the viewing experience shifts depending on the angle.

Harris obtained his BFA at the Kansas City Art Institute and a Master's in Industrial Design from the Pratt Institute, studying under renowned design theorist Rowena Kostellow. Harris' extensive art education endowed him with the ability to create a patented process he uses to create his pieces of layered abstraction. Harris's works capture brief illuminations of cont. next page

transient light, leaving a beautiful work reflecting "our inner state, and synthesis of outer qualities—light, color, movement, space." In his work, you can find the universal principles of design that produce the qualities associated with beauty—dimensionality and fluidity. Below is an exciting interview with this master artist: What is your message for the world in your work? "Visual reality is an ever-shifting, highly individualized experience. In any given moment, what we see reflects both our inner state and synthesis of outer qualities light, color, movement, s p a c e . M y ex p l o ra t i o n o f d i m e n s i o n a l photographic art represents an attempt to recreate the perceptual experience, with its dynamic nature and hidden complexities. dimensionality and fluidity affected by such changes as the angle of viewing and light. However, perceptual mechanics are only part of the equation. Equally essential are universal principles of design that produce qualities we perceive as beauty. This is my aim: to skillfully combine technology and aesthetics to expand the viewer's visual experience." When did this work become a sincere desire for you to share? "I spent more than 35 years, combining design and technology in the field of direct marketing. Along the way, I further studied economics, computer sciences, marketing, and graphic arts financial management, and earned many design/professional awards. My creative energy during this period was in the service of other individuals and companies, but after retiring, I turned my attention to my fine art. This took the form of photography, my lifelong passion. My iconoclastic streak had caused me to consistently forge new directions in the design and business world, and I have brought the same unconventional approach to the photographic image. I always reminded myself and my designers that design is what you do for others. Fine art is what you do for yourself. It was time to create for myself. Sharing it with others was a natural path to validate my thoughts." cont. next page “Chairs” Digital Print on Aluminum With Acrylic Overlay , 30’’ X 36”

What concepts are you currently eager to share? "Josef Albers once said that 'Abstraction is real, probably more real than nature itself. I believe that the Photographic Art should go beyond a static two dimensional representation of nature. A photo should capture more than one moment in time, one view, and one experience. Adding additional dimensions to a two dimensional image should be the goal of the artist. As an artist, one should master technology. But mastering technology or technique only makes one a technician. The artist must transcend beyond the technical. It's the artist's goal to add the intangible dimensions of personal expression, emotion, movement, and the opportunity for the image to interact with its ever changing environment." What's next for you? "I will continue my quest to create dimensional photographic images with a “Star Dream” Digital Print on Aluminum With Acrylic Overlay , 36’’ X 30" deeper understanding of what Arshile Gorky once said about abstractions, 'Abstraction allows a man to see with his mind what he cannot see physically with his eyes…. Abstract art enables the artist to perceive beyond the tangible, to extract the infinite out of the finite. It is the emancipation of the mind. It is an exploration into unknown areas'. I will continue my quest into the unknown with the belief that whatever I strive to create will be aesthetically pleasing, and forever changing." Harris and his art have had a global impact on his multi-decade career. He has won prestigious international professional awards (e.g., Artists for a Green Planet, Artist of the Decade, Prize Raffaello, Prize Giulio Cesare, Prize Leonardo Da Vinci, a Who's Who Lifetime Achievement Award). He and his works have been in many books and publications such as ArtTour International Artists of the Decade, ATIM Top 60 Masters, and more. Inspired to create and share his visually aesthetic representations of light and space, this prolific artist's work is in art galleries internationally and represented by galleries in the United States and Europe. Harris's work engages the idea that every photographic moment allows for a multiplicity of experiences depending on the viewer's perceptual qualities. Even in his more representational work, the object's identity is pushed toward abstraction. And the full experience of the image-the lines, the energy, the sensory aspects- is felt. Harris' work creates an immersive experience before your eyes, breaking and reconfiguring your perception while representing abstract notions of space and form in a visual object.

rans Frengen’s work is ever evolving. Making use of his trademark technique "Fumagine." The method makes use of the smoke patterns left behind by flame on canvas, being used at the same time with conventional painting to create a unique mixed media result. The usage of fire as an immediate tool in creating his works is an idea that has both practical and theoretical implications. He uses an element connected with the notion of destruction to paint, shifting its original context and taming it to promote creation. The resulting images have many figurative references, most often animals, figures, and plants painted accurately, despite the unpredictable patterns that arise from the traces of smoke. His dedication to this unique technique has led Frengen to such virtuosity on this medium that he freely creates with blending images and forms while also introducing general references like

dots, squares, and brushstrokes that complement the aesthetic result of the artworks. The conceptual concept of his artistic work is accordingly vibrant, including many ideas connected with our world, nature, and the environment in general, something arising from the frequent implementation of plants and animals. It is an act that showcases his deep interest in our planet's life cycles and the preservation of our natural environment seen in works like "The protected group." Such pieces bring forward the elegance and beauty of animals and the dire need to save the ecosystem and respect the fragile equilibrium that has been violently unsettled by human action. Thus, his body of work transcends the realm of pure artistic expression and aims to deliver a crucial message to contemporary society, the message of love and respect towards the nature that shelters us.

Leaving us to reflect on the shadowing results lingering in our community, affecting daily lives. "At the moment my focus is on the decline of the world around us that we must pass on to our youth: the newly born beauty. I create renovated space, spaces air, tested against the reality of the canvas. I use fumagine - in nature, a plant disease with soot deposition on the leaves - aflame painting, fire, one of the dramatic of the four elements, to conflict with the reality of uplifted paint blobs, dots of paint, and edits of the canvas. I want to create togetherness, peace, a kind of commitment. My subconscious mind regularly drives figurative images through an abstract look, linking them to reality and my DNA."

“The Land of the Free and the Home of the Brave” Glass Sculpture, 33.5” X 25.5”

“The light and my gratitude for life inspires me. I “paint” with pieces of glass, cut it into shapes and colours and add it to my palette like brushstrokes – which make my art pieces one-of-a-kind-objects. I pass on my thoughts and ideas to my glass art and want my art to give the viewer new experiences.”

D

anish glass artist, Agnethe Maagaard has been experienting with glass for over 20 years and has always had a heart for creating work that touches on some of life’s most powerful subjects. These universal topics and themes combined with the reignition of the Black Lives Matter movement makes her work more relevant than ever.

Her glass art series LIBERTY, is based on the fundamental values that have been the starting point for all journies to freedom for all people. The Statue of Liberty inspired series is based on the basic values she represents. Consisting of 3 glass art pieces representing freedom, hope, and respect, our world’s history are engraved as text and symbols in the art works. Part one, The Promised Land, symbolizes the history of the 300,000 Danes emigrating to the Promised land for a better life 200 years ago. Part two, The Torch of Liberty represents enlightening the World, the torch, the flame of Hope, which the Statue of Liberty holds in her hand. Part three, The Land of the Free and the home of the Brave, is the first line of the national anthem and the first words WE THE PEOPLE of the American Constitution. The broken chains symbolize freedom from slavery and oppression. Every civilization has walked the painful path to freedom, these glass art pieces represent a small, but crucial part of that story and serve as a reminder that seeking freedom is never complete and that we all have a responsibility in the journey.

Brian Rock "I challenge you to look into yourself, and if I have identified a communal feeling, the purpose of all art has succeeded." - Brian Rock

A

by Viviana Puello

ward-winning artist Brian Rock utilizes a variety of objects and techniques to create works that convey strong sentimentality, promote healing, and expose hidden depths in the human condition. Rock has mastered the creative use of layered, multi-media structures, challenging his audience to examine themselves through his art. Rock's themes explore the intricacies of our collective human consciousness: the dense textures and details created through movement and shadow mimic the human journey in their imperfection and nuance. Inspired by his life experience, Rock creates abstract expressions of memories, moods, thoughts, and the environment. His unique technique of hand mixing his mediums directly onto the canvas, allows Rock a direct contact with the audience, imprinting his memories and sharing his healing process on each one of his paintings. Making use of mixed media, Rock creates works that showcase remnants of war. He uses dirt, glass, ash, wire, nails, bullet casings, and shrapnel—applying colors and found

objects to create conceptual compositions, importing symbolic references that maintain a connection with reality, and focus on a more direct view of our society. His “Self Identities’” collection grapples with the ephemeral, and yet, on a deeper level, the rock stable nature of the self. Abstract shapes and forms are tied together by the impressionistic portrayals of faces. The color palette and lines draw rich in expression. Rock's style is compounded by his original canvases, layered with paints, and found object collages, as seen in his critiques of modern society in pieces such as "Playground and Burn." His use of recycled plastic and barbed wire in "Pete" is a hallmark example of this aspect of his work. These pieces highlight alarming societal realities, such as the commodification of humans, violence, and suffering. A move from NYC to New Mexico allowed him to embrace the culture of the southwestern United States, influencing a shift in his creative inspiration. His work took on new depth and aesthetic as he utilizes metal and a vibrant color palette. Rock has created urban art installations in his new home of New Mexico, ensuring that generations will have access to viewing and interacting with art. All this complexity behind the work of Brian Rock can be seen as an honest and vulnerable testimony of his life's journey, a

statement that is of significant influence as it leaves an open invitation for others to relate. Rock uses vibrant, warm, and chromatic colors, with inviting textures showcasing his world within ours. Using his art as a healing source, Rock is vocal about the definite influence art has had in his life during his journey of overcoming trauma. Living with the desire to give back as a veteran, he is active with several

Macy Matarazzo Big Happy L ve

by Viviana Puello

Macy Matarazzo, the founder of Big Happy Love, dedicates her life and career to helping smart, single, spiritually conscious women find real, lasting, committed love, without sacrificing who they are and having fun getting there. She brings her clients a magical combination of transformational change methodology. Emotional Healing RIM Therapy, Kundalini yoga & creative exploration to help women who want to feel more connection, self-love, joy & purpose have it. She has been using these tools for over 25 years and found a powerful yet FUN way for women to attract extraordinary soulful LOVE in their lives. In this Art2Heart interview, Macy Matarazzo shares with us how love and healing go hand in hand. Growing up in the 70's, for Macy, success meant climbing the corporate ladder and not needing a man in her life (but in her heart longing for Prince Charming!). She found herself in her 40's, thriving in her corporate career, but alone. After twenty-five years of failed relationships,

SUMMER 2020

no proposals, and feeling like she wasted a lot of time with the "wrong" ones, she believed that if love hadn't happened by then, it was because she was unlovable. She decided to take control of her love life and used her business sense, neuroscience, Kundalini yoga, invested in experts and coaches, studied attachment theory, meditation, and learned tools to work with the subconscious relationship blocks. During the process, Macy discovered the magic formula to attract love without sacrificing who she is. As she shared her experience, others found love too. She quit her six-figure gig, gave up her black & gray suits, died her hair purple (because it's fun), and now helps singles worldwide find the one using her signature ”I AM SuperLOVED” system. How do you define yourself? “I'm Macy, a Love & Relationship Expert AKA "Love Creator," founder of the SuperLOVED System, helping single women get past the fears that hold them back and create a super loving relationship without sacrificing anything to get there.”

What can single creative entrepreneurs do to be actively involved in their journey to companionship these times when we are home and secluded? “Commit to doing what it takes to create connections. Find communities, classes, artists groups, volunteer opportunities. Online connections are real connections. Socially distanced connections are connections---be creative. If you would love to have someone in your life, and haven't been able to create it on your own, get help!” What tips do you have for artists and creative individuals suffering from stress due to the events happening in present times? “Create! Remember, this is the superpower for transformation. We know more than anyone else how art is the gateway to healing and new possibility. Our art, music, innovation, ideas, and inspirations are the medicine the world needs now.” Is there something that we, as artists and creative force, can do, from the corner of our studios to create change? “For me it's being present and asking myself, what would I love to create? What would create the most right now? And TRUST what that inspires in me as the perfect contribution to change.”

Macy Matarazzo and her Husband Dr. Larry Frieder, Doctor, Coach, Mentor at the Enlightened Gut.

How do you think art can contribute to healing society at this moment? The world is changing, there's lots of chaos, grief, anger, pain, and for me, this time asks us to go beyond the old and create something new. Creative thinkers and artists are the perfect stewards for innovative solutions. Whether it is expressing visually, musically, written, or through new ideas, artists have an opportunity to be the change that inspires others to see something different or feel seen in what they are going through or experience new ways of living that have not existed before. Tell us about your art; we know you're also an artist? “I love making things, painting, puppets, spaces, and experiences. Lately, I have been painting more, and it's always been something just for me to get out of my head and having the freedom to do what makes me happy. I am drawn to a folk-art style, lots of colors, and whatever it is that will inspire amusement in me! Right now, I love painting Jel-lo salads, as you see in vintage cookbooks because it is the most whimsical, bizarre, entertaining food on the planet and makes me laugh. What if Jel-lo paintings that make people laugh is what will heal the world?!! I trust that it is.”

ike the endless diversity of differences in our world and in life, African American women come in various shades. With each difference in our appearance comes a label that is wrongly applied. Not only do we find ourselves pushing against the assumptions and cliches of being women, but we are categorized by society based on our careers, our income, where we live, our relationship status, our skin tone, and hair type. Being a Black woman, I have had my share of hard times and destructive relationships that took me years to recover from. Anyone facing the growing occurance of being mislabeled will create coping mechanisms to serve and protect themselves from the darts thrown at us from the outside world. “For me, I have found drawing and painting a theraputic way of expressing how I now see myself and all black and brown women: we are strong, bold, beautiful and full of color like the infinite color and unique differences that we find in flowers. My drawings start with a pencil sketch on a cotton canvas. Afterwards, I choose bold or light colors of acrylic paint to express my emotions and culture for the background and her figure. At times, I will paint or use wood cutouts for textured hair to express our femininity, distinct differences, and beauty. “Desert Flower” Mix Media and Acrylic on Canvas, 22” X 28”

My work seeks to inspire change. It is time for a rewrite of these traditional narratives that we have let define who we are for far too long. There is strength and beauty to be found in every single one of us. With each painting I create, I want the viewer to see beauty in Black women. I want Black women to see beauty in themselves and to be inspired, motivated and encouraged to ignore the negative words and to love, respect and cherish themselves.”

her Anderson is a wildlife painter and photographer with hyperrealistic paintings that mirror her immense love and dedication to the conservation of nature and wildlife. Anderson's work is acutely rich in detail, and the illusion of movement through majestic poses, and lively bold color tones. Her intimate relationship with these natural settings as a photographer is seen through her use of light, layers, and focus as she carefully calls attention to the characteristics that will enhance the depiction of her subjects. Anderson's predisposition for wildlife traces back to her childhood years, an inclination that only seems to have grown over time. True to her spirit of wildlife conservation and rehabilitation, Anderson donates most of her proceeds from her art sales to conservation efforts. "My passion for nature's beauty, chaos, and wonder have to lead me to create images that bring to life the spirit of what I see in quiet places and try to make you feel the awe and the essence of its beauty. Life is a miracle – enjoy it, experience it, and share it!" Anderson was born in New York, raised in Mexico City, and has resided in Arizona since 1990. ithout viewers, sculptures do not exist! I create sculptures because it is the viewer who matters to me. My goal is to catch his/her attention and to inspire thought. I want to invite him/her to take part in the creation of the artwork using his/her imagination. I enjoy experimenting with forms and all kinds of materials. I am interested in ancient themes e.g., sexuality, death, gods, etc. In my artwork, the human body is reduced to geometric forms and reorganized as geometric structures. I am also attracted to the extreme. If my theme is a god, it must be e.g., Golem with his brutal energy. I find some modern topics exciting too; the outer and inner surface of the form, how to use color - paint - on sculpture, design, the structure of the material, and its effect on form, combining two kinds of materials on the same artwork. During my career, I have used a lot of materials: wood, bronze, aluminum, stainless steel, acrystal (acrylic resin), in their natural and painted versions”.

He passion took him to studying sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw and with the British Sculptor, James Butler, in England. There, he learned observation and techniques that would stand him in good stead later, when he returned to France, as a Professor of Communication at the renowned Ecole Francaise D’Attache de Presse near the Champs Elysees. Her recent inspiration being the vastness of the sea, she paints metaphorically charged scenes. Adams' subjective portrayal of an object compliments mountains and valleys of texture woven and interspersed with washes of skillfully blended hues of blues, creating a feeling of motion on the canvas. She weaves this color and texture to portray the ocean's ceaseless and ever-changing movement: her thick application of acrylic on canvas, adding their dynamic sense of dimension. Adams's work uses an impeccable technique, shading, and application to visually striking, vibrant pieces that easily imply movement and expertly abstractly portray realism.

healing artist, a creator of my unique multidimensional concept 'HealingArts' I've been developing for 30 years, I believe that ART is a catalyst for healing individuals, society and the environment. I am a pioneer in creating art with an intention to heal. As a severe PTSD survivor my own complex life journey gifted me with creating. I am a true 'healing artist' who started to use art, energy & spiritual work, music, movement, and other expressive modalities to support my own healing and to enhance healing process to those in need. I bring together Fine Art, and Art of Healing by integrating healing frequencies of color, positively charged intention, embedded spiritual messages, and energetically balanced composition. My work is often described as 'symphony of colors' as it is saturated with passion, movement, positive intention & healing energy, and always elicited a profound positive response. My vision, mission, and purpose is to bring 'HealingArts' to HealthCare, Residential and Hospitality facilities - to assist in recovery, encourage joy and happiness, and enhance healing and wellbeing by introducing highvibrational multi-sensory experience, meditation & relaxation.

As a Light-worker, I felt obligated to create new 'life-affirming' healing art in our turbulent times. Original artworks presented here: a huge 'Fractals of Happy'- Collection' 5D", 'Dolphins'- Series' Serenity Blues' (created with another artist Garsot especially for HealthCare); and 'Colorful Heaven' from my latest pandemic Series 'Serenity.'

enrik Saar was born in Sønderborg, near the border between Denmark and Germany in 1967. His father came from Germany, and his mother is Danish. They moved to Fredericia in 1970, where his daddy established himself as an independent architect. Fredericia has always been the family's hometown, and that's where Henrik lives today.

He has two older sisters and had a fantastic childhood, where love, freedom, creativity, and intellectual skills were essential values in the family. A stroke hit Saar at the early age of 14, an event that changed his life by transforming him into a very sensible boy who looked to art to express himself, pouring all his energy into drawing, poetry, and music instead. “Don't Kill the World” Oil on Canvas, 39” X 31.5”

Saar has developed a very successful artistic career by overcoming many health challenges and surviving epilepsy. Henrik Saar's works showcase symbols and figures meticulously arranged with excellent compositions that play with color, movement, and forms. His surreal imagery is provocative and touches social themes. In his words, "pain and suffering may be my strongest source of inspiration. . . I think that these times of suffering that we experience during the pandemic should help us develop the strongest passion for art ever because art helps you rehabilitate and become stronger. Jean Jacques Porret

“#441 Fripouille” Bronze

A

Ward-winning artist, sculptor and engineer, JeanJacques Porret specializes in sculpting contemporary bronze sculptures using the lost wax method. Though he studied engineering, art has always had a special place in his heart. Porret's work, at first glance, captures focus with its smooth motions. He expresses a personal connection with Bronze, highlighting the individual attention required by Bronze when casting and its responsiveness to even the slightest touch. Over the years, Porret has mastered the lostwax process to crystallize his vision of honoring what it is to be a sculptor. His works are graceful, bold, elegant, and seamless. They replicate the harmony of blissful moments while exhibiting a sense of escalated movement in each figure. The result of his imagination manifests in ebullient forms that are mostly human figures. The sculptures are shrouded in grace as each movement seems intentional with the perfect balance of whimsical to make his sculpture look free and unfettered.

Porret’s sculptures of the human form seems to leap out at the viewer. This movement is described by Jean-Jacques as "rhythm in space." Porret said of his artistic method and vision, "I work instinctively without any preconceived idea, and with one shape leading to the next until the figure is simply rhythm in space.” Porret continues to evolve as an artist, and his style has changed significantly, from sharper to a softer expression of molten metal. All his bronze sculptures possess grace, balance, and fluidity. Porret muses, "If my approach seems figurative, I do not aim for a reproduction of the human form: what interests me is to transmit an abstract feeling or an idea rather than an image of reality. I use recognizable forms to arouse emotion, to give birth to sensations. I consider myself, in fact, an impressionist." This vision drives his work, and each sculpture imbues depth and intensity.

www.arttourinternational.com

Many of his signature pieces with their soft angular movements are harmoniously mixed with sharply defined textures captivating thoughtful designs with an immortal richness, boldness, and unsettling beauty. Porret's work is infused with his personality, unsuppressed by traditional rules; his work is original and buried within each piece is the poetry of his work. Creating figures of humanity in the abstract, each form courageously melting into the next. Emotions created from fragments of granite or marble jutting and piercing through the bronzes bring the concepts of nature and man together, creating a stunningly modernistic and seductive interpretation of the human form. Jean Jacques Porret's bronzes can be seen in innumerable collections throughout Europe, Japan, and the United States. He was commissioned to create the bronze sculpture for the American-Swiss Friendship Award. The "Abage Encyclopedia of bronzes" describes Porret as "an independent thinker, whose bronze sculpture might be described as a naturalistic, modern blend, in which forms are simplified to their essential rhythms and elements." "Lost wax is a slow multi-step process that has endured only because of the results…knowing that my bronze sculptures will outlive me provides a comforting whiff of immortality. I believe everyone wants to leave something behind." Porret's work is unique, crafted with his strong individuality and melded with tremendous sensitivity. His work and art, a dedication of exacting professionalism, and unswerving integrity have guided a life of total artistic commitment and personal expression.

started my journey in the art world in 2018. Found my passion for painting by accident and since then, I have not been able to put my paint brushes down.

When I painted The Passage this new depth of emotions channeled through me and I felt like I had gone through a portal to the other side. It was an awaking to a Dream which is the next painting I created. This shift in my energy inspired me to paint Fall's Dance with no restrictions.

When I'm in my studio I like to put on music, dance and see where my hands take me. While I'm painting I'm very isolated from the outside world so I can focus. When the pandemic hit, the isolation became more intense for me and I went through some real challenging emotions!

For me Art is an intrinsic part of my life and has the power to heal my soul always!”

John Nieman

by Yadira Roman

“The Sixties” Watercolor, 28” X 31”

nternational recognized artist and writer, author of numerous novels and art books, John Nieman is an American artist well known for a unique realist style of painting that utilizes the subject overlayed with words to create an underlying message, a riddle, that the viewer is invited to explore with deep concentration and thought. John Nieman's artworks almost always combine words and writing. Nieman does not just class himself as a visual artist, but also as a fiction writer. Thus, many of his works meld words and images or enable words and pictures to work in tandem together. A prime example of this is the series of works that Nieman created which he decided to call "Art With A Story." Here, he presents viewers with a picture and then also provides a short text providing the backstory to the image.

“Love Songs” Watercolor, 29” X 18”

Nieman has developed a very characteristic style and technique. The overlaying of text and image, the playful way in which he approaches the relationship between text and image, and the twin emphasis on both realism and vivid colors makes a painting by John Nieman instantly recognizable as "Nieman." The artist has explicitly created and consolidated this distinctive style over his 30 years as an artist. And, as a result, one would expect that he will continue to create works in the same style during the research of his artistic career. It 's hard to imagine John Nieman suddenly adopting a radical new way of depicting the world. However, were he to depart from the unique techniques described above, that would surely be a fascinating and exciting development in his artistic trajectory indeed.

Dr. J.J. Kelly aka the 'Punk Rock Doc', Sharing Skills to Heal "I help gifted 'misfits' unlock their superpowers" - Dr. J.J. Kelly The world isn't the same as it was 25 years ago. Recently, the world isn't the same as it was last year or even last month. More and more people are feeling lost and depressed during these uncertain times. Healing professionals are looking for ways to foster hope and healing when things feel so out of control. Author of the Amazon best-seller "Holy Sh*t, My Kid is Cutting!", Dr. J.J. Kelly, is recognized for her mentorship program, a paradigm shift from the current mental health system. Her vision is global healing by teaching people the skills to genuinely like themselves. Rooted in Oakland, California, infused with punk and hiphop, Dr. Kelly advocates that joy is everyone's right regardless of what society deems unfit, unwell, or unpopular.

Dr. J.J. Kelly, how do you define yourself and what you do? “I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist & Emotional Intelligence Expert. I am the Punk Rock Doc. I am CEO & Founder of UnorthoDocs, Inc., and my company offers coaching and consulting as an alternative to traditional psychotherapy and the current mental health system. We focus on emotional intelligence skills coaching, peer-coaching, mentorship, community outreach, laughter & love.”

taught the coping skills that would improve their emotional intelligence and increase their quality of life and their capacity to experience joy. I intend to change that. Finding authentic and creative ways to connect with others is the road to healing”. What would message would you share with artists and creative professionals? “I work with a lot of creative people - many of whom have spent their lives 'not fitting in,' being judged for being 'different' or 'weird' or whatever... That's why my next book is for "Gifted 'Misfits'" - a name we've come to embrace at UnorthoDocs, Inc. Visual artists, painters, musicians, spoken word performers, writers, dancers, poets - even chefs, and filmmakers, and clothing designers. Anytime you have the courage in your heart to 'make' something new and put it out into the world, you face the vulnerability of rejection. That's brave enough!...now you add the pervasive uncertainty that this pandemic has brought to our daily lives - and fear has just skyrocketed”. “Creative people: we have always been on the fringes of society, so why fight that. Why not embrace that we're different and learn to accept ourselves - flaws and all? Why not heal the longheld lie that society has always told us: that we're all supposed to be the same? We're not! If we learn the emotional intelligence skills to manage emotions and communicate with others effectively, then the truth can come out: We're all similar AND different, and when we've accepted ourselves and even learned to LIKE ourselves and know what our values are and our behaviors MATCH our values, then we gain a healthy respect for ourselves and confidence that nothing and no one can taint or take away. We gain a fortitude INside ourselves that is independent of what's OUTside of us. The healing starts within. Remember how brave you are. It is revolutionary to like yourself...and that absolutely CAN be taught”.

drjjkelly.com

Have you seen a higher incidence of depression these days? “The simple answer is yes. People are deeply unhappy right now. The complexity lies in the basis of that unhappiness. What is the base? Fear. There are many unknowns in our daily life right now. What I've learned from over 15+ years is we have not been taught the skills to manage fear effectively. With no tools to combat the fear and hopelessness, we will find ways to avoid or escape with controlling behaviors. This is a form of selfmedication, and while it can feel like it works on that day, it is short-lived relief. Why? When fear doesn't get addressed and managed at its root or core, we will spiral into repetitive behaviors of avoidance (self-medication) that eventually leads to 'anxiety burnout' that causes unhappiness. People are not

Kimberly Berg

imberly Berg is an awardwinning American artist and feminist advocate, and intuitive who highlights the feminine power and grace through striking imagery. He uses his figurative work as a tool to communicate his firm beliefs and journey in fighting for women's rights. Bergs's works are predominantly figurative, incorporating realistic drawing, which acts as the backbone of the composition presented to the viewer. He also frequently avoids an overburdened background, a feature which aims to elevate the figure depicted as the sole protagonist of the piece and avoid excess information. The chromatic palette utilized focuses on darker, cool tones that enhance the mystical atmosphere, which is one of the main elements in his work. His works focus on the feminine essence of the human being. He refers to himself as a "male, feminist advocate artist" who wishes to voice both beauty of the female figure and the mysticism connected with the feminine symbolically. Berg uses color to connect his audience to the natural elements concerning his subjects; All these elements are the key characteristics in Berg's work, always evoking a dialog, thus structuring a cohesive representation of mysticism and knowledge of color technique.

“M

y work, both in Art and Architecture, is an ongoing exploration of the concept of Layers. I have always been aware of and fascinated by Layers in the Natural and Built Environment. Layers in Space and Time. Layers in Intellect, in Emotion. Synthesis and Interpenetration of Form, of Solid and Void, of Chaos and Order, of Simplicity and Complexity. M y i n s p i ra t i o n a p p e a r s t o m e spontaneously, involuntarily, provoked by sensory influences. Unannounced initial thought may derive from a piece of music, written text, built or natural environment, person, mood, event, or any combination of the above. A concept gestates for days or weeks until the appropriate media becomes clear. I create a sketch and try to understand it for some time. The piece then comes out of me very quickly. Several pieces result, produced in rapid succession. A formally trained architect, I received my Bachelor of Architecture degree from Kent State University. I have studied and created art all of my life. I draw inspiration from compositions in nature and the built environment. I am intrigued by the natural tension between opposing forces along with the following themes: Chaos/Order, Free Form/ Precision, Random/Planned, Solid/Void. My influences come from the modern architecture and art world and include Corbusier, Meier, Eisenman, Pollack, Chihuly, Warhol, Arnoldi. Much of my work is done in a small series and normally executes very closely to the first flash of light that appeared. I have noticed that the many passions in my life similarly manifest through me.”

aster artist and professional sculptor, Lisa Azzano, specializes in figurative sculpture, working mainly in white clay and porcelain to create her uniquely detailed sculptures. With over 25 years experience in the fine arts and the healing arts, Lisa combines these two art forms to create healing art pieces which often center on the female figure and frequently with wings such as guardians, angels, faeries, goddesses that are specifically created for individuals, homes, groups and certain locations worldwide.

Her subject’s gauzy dresses and innate feminine grace are fully embodied in her sculptures. They are still not figures of the past, present, or future, but rather what one might call the physical expression of traditional archetypes. Lisa's specialty, however, is in the creation of intuitively sculpted or painted guardian portraits which are imbued with angelic energy and healing crystals and can also be created in the likeness of a loved one. Born in Ontario, Canada, and today residing in British Columbia, Azzano has lived and traveled widely across Europe and the East, collecting inspiration, and has just returned from living and studying art in Florence, Italy. Her sculptures and paintings are in private collections worldwide. She continues to sculpt and to learn while sharing through teaching the joy of creating with others.

reelance commercial artist and master designer for over 30 years, Marty Jones found little time for "serious" illustration until 1988, when a ruptured appendix and a brush with death caused him to re-evaluate his goals and priorities. “I realized that my future wasn't predictable; and that the Eternal has given me a talent intended to be used for the benefit of others. I then decided it was time to get "serious" about my career as an illustrator.” Jones found his faith in college as he was “loved” into the church by a group of college students. There, he not only found Jesus but found his wife of now over 44 years too. Jones’ illustrations are fairly eclectic, and he doesn’t specifically gear any style toward one type of illustration; however, all of his illustrations are realistically-styled. With over 7 children’s

Now an accomplished artist, Vinokourov creates works permeated with life and purpose, representing what she describes as a “harmony between nature and life.” (by Viviana Puello) “Over the past five years, I have been studying and practicing the art and science of Mandala and the Fibonacci code. I feel beauty, love, and completeness in these creations of resonance. This is an expression of life in the universe through geometry, math, and color. Here I highlight 4 of the paintings I have drawn. All of the Mandala’s Chakras are created on my interpretations of the knowledge and calculations attributed to Chakras. The first chakra – Muladhara (The Root) is the basis and energy of life. It is the instinct of self-preservation and security. It is like a grain that grows from the ground The third chakra – Manipura (Solar Plexus) is the internal power. It is responsible for the immune system. The fourth chakra – Anahata (Heart) is the most important chakra for a human. It is the energy center of love. It is the basis of all healing, harmony, and balance. The seventh chakra – Sahasrara (Crown) is a comprehensive electromagnetic center. It is the manifestation of the spiritual in the physical body. It represents the choices and decisions that people make in life.

hrough a digital overlay and collage process, awardwinning master artist Monika Bendner creates multilayered, surrealistic experiences through a combination of photographic prints and mixed media. Her compositions which are printed on a variety of materials, create a narrative that evokes emotions and multiple responses from her viewers; With a background in photographic design, Monika Bendner's work has transformed as she's entered different phases of her growth and development as an artist over her active career. Her use of abstract lines and shapes conveys movement in their dimensionality, and her bold, rich, textured application of color emanates meaning through their saturation. Viscerally recognizable through their intensity and layers, Bendner's work is diverse and unconventional due to her various materials, methods, and techniques. She creates her work using various alternating combinations of canvas, metallic photo printing, acrylic, glass, photography, and found objects.

Her metallic photographic prints are layered and expressed outside of time and space. She brings images into hyper-real kaleidoscope imagery pressed behind a thick acrylic/glass amalgamation. Works such as 'Frieden: nur mit geklonten wesen' (Peace: only with Cloned Beings) provide a glimpse into her message. With the common motif of a figurative hand layered in most of her collections, she leaves her work open for interpretation. Bendner created critiques on modern femininity and definitions of beauty in her Modenschau (Fashion Show) series, with powerful pieces such as In der Maske, Mannequin, Anprobe (Try On). Her powerful standalone work Boxenluder (Grit Girl). Visually connecting disparate elements and creating a visually stunning image is the hallmark feature of Bendner's work throughout her metamorphosis. Her collections of impressive, starkly captivating imagery continue to be thought-provoking and stimulate audiences around the world.

Her work has been globally displayed in Israel, Switzerland, Canada, Italy, Austria, France, and the United States, creating international acclaim and bringing attention to her passion, speaking out against child abuse.

Well known for her surrealist expressionism oil paintings depicting of the human condition, Alvarez’s work elicits deep and hauntingly accurate emotions. Many of her subjects contain doll-like perspectives that look directly into the viewer. Each painting seeking deeper understanding of the inner turmoil the subject is struggling to contain. Many artists have deeper bolder meanings that inspire, drive the passion behind each collection created. The raw emotion contained in Alvarez’s work is palpable, but within it is still a peace and a hope. An emotional fortitude that balances the bold voice speaking out. Alvarez brings a strength that only suffering creates in our subject, recognition that while some things may never be the same, life still exists. “Family Tree” Oil on Canvas, 23.5” X 23.5” X 2.7”

Ric Conn

ic Conn is an award-winning American painter inspired by expressionist methods, both traditional and contemporary; he exhibits bold textures and calculated use of light in carrying the symbolic imagery in each visual narrative. Conn explores the differences and perceptions of reality and illusion, capturing the many layers of female characteristics in each of his paintings. His focus is to communicate the essence of courage and beauty in women. His dedication to speaking out against inequality and social issues women often face is evident not only in his work but in his platform. He displays a clear opposition between reality and perception, utilizing a relatively conventional technique while painting, employing acrylics, inks, oil, gouaches, and charcoal to bring the various depictions to life. Conn often incorporates symbolically designed animal motifs throughout each canvas while still using muted and soft palettes, allowing the audience to focus on the painting's subject. From wildlife to equality and empowerment, Conn's work reaches across language barriers to reveal the psychological connection between our world and the world that Conn portrays. In his work with women, he vividly portrays their silhouette, expressing the soul and the limitless emotions inside. All the while, revealing the meanings of the existence of our universal connection as humankind. Ric Conn's artworks are endowed with varying degrees of shadows, light, and depths. He uses these aspects to portray “Woman in Blue” Mixed Media, 40” X 30”

Doing so with a welcoming invitation, eliminate stereotypes on what "women" must embody to be accepted by society. With a lengthy career and a well-deserved line of awards, Conn makes his mark in the community. "I believe in equality, and I want my work to reflect that. The stories in my paintings are situations that can happen to anyone. I paint them from the female perspective because, unfortunately, women are still mistreated.."

A

by Tiarra Tompkins

ccomplished and celebrated International Contemporary Artist, Author, Humanitarian, and Speaker, Patricia Karen Gagic, has been awarded and recognized for her writing and metaphorically fused vivid abstract paintings she speaks of as "The Karmic Revolution." Her impressive global art career is evidenced with her exhibitions around the world, and now she is ArtTour International's Artist of the Year. Gagic's style derives from a creative perception of facing the challenges, dynamic richness, and quality, which emerges from working with layered textures and intricate shadows. Her processdriven paintings reflect the intense connection to the world around her, and in particular, to the natural environment. Using the depth of each visual as a symbol of that within ourselves. Gagic's use of color connects the viewer to the emotional impact of genuinely allowing us to be present in the natural world. Gagic's artwork is a balance between the intense bold color palettes required for shadows and neutral tones which complement and make each canvas a soothing yet powerful visual with the essence of an intense silence we often experience in such elevated heights of nature. Her use of innovative color is the identifying factor in this portfolio. Cool color hues depict glacial landscapes, including ice melts and lakes, as well as warmer shades directing our gaze to the resemblance of the northern lights. Her realistic reflective tones of ice and snow create depth and texture. The variety of themes demonstrate an appreciation and spiritual connection to nature evident in often preferring concepts that portray the hidden details found in natural formations. Gagic uses a unique technique resulting in seamlessly overlapping layers with detailed corners for each object. Every display has a different thickness “Chaos N Sync” Mixed Media, 40” X 30”

and blends smoothly into the background space. Fluid brushstrokes create a sense of mystery and wonder which the viewer can connect with. Gagic's art displays her mastery of the Matisse and French Masters' Palettes, which often produce great retrospective views and natural formations. Her work is the combination of many notable styles, all bringing together a culmination of explosive color. Fluid layers of acrylics showcasing a photorealistic look are paired with blended hues for a more expressive depth of space. Her art also points to something higher than logic-based conventional perceptions, as Gagic, concerned about the emergence of form and method, provides exceptional distinction in her work to bring feelings and life to the viewer through texture, light, and color. As a distinguished artist on many levels, Patricia Karen Gagic has served as a member of the Ontario Cabinet for Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights. She is a member of the Sir Edmund Hilary Foundation Board of Directors and The Divon Academy. She is also an active Rotarian. Cruz Often one acknowledges that art is produced for an audience, for a viewer, but creating art is sometimes produced by the artist, for the artist, as a form of therapy or part of a healing process. I often find myself digging deep into my inner being and capturing those emotions on canvas, which is a release of uncomfortable experiences leading to healing through the creation of art”. - Raymond John Westraadt

Peyton Manker

A Teenage Artist Making a Difference!

P

eyton Manker's Coronavirus Inspired Prom Dress Made of Duck Tape Won A Competition . . . And Also Stole Our Hearts

18-year-old Peyton Manker has made an impact in the news with her creation of a dress inspired to bring awareness and document history. What started as a submission to win a scholarship, ended as a great message of inspiration after the pandemic affected their senior year and plans for prom. The ingenious teenager, created this prom dress out of duck tape, and you can see by the detail, she put her heart into it. In her dress, multiple images featuring the somber reality of the pandemic capture the teenager's experience and that of many people affected during these times. Her dress is the representation of a senior year that will, for sure, remain in history. Her vibrant colors, and skillful composition, showcase the resilience of a young generation that is willing to go the extra mile to find a positive side of life—a true inspiration for the world to see. Winner of the competition, she confesses she didn't realize her dress was going to touch so many lives and is happy to bring a positive impact on the situation. We congratulate Peyton and the CLASS OF 2020 for their courage, positivism and significant contribution, helping us all see the world in color, in the darkest of times.

Below are Peyton's inspirational words about her creative process. “COVID-19 has impacted me as an artist by inspiring me to create artwork representing the current events of the world and its history. It has also given me plenty of more time to think and create while in quarantine. COVID-19 was, of course, the inspiration for my dress. Each design represents an aspect of how the coronavirus has impacted the world, and the reaction many people may have had towards it. Duct tape and fabric were the materials I used to make my dress. I placed the duct tape over top pieces of fabric I had cut out to manipulate the tape better. The designs are made out of duct tape.

To the graduating students of 2020, like me, many of you did not get the privilege of walking in a traditional graduation but instead ending your high school career through a virtual ceremony. Though our senior year was stripped from us, we can all still cherish the high school memories we made while we were together. We do not need to see one another face-to-face to know that we will all do well in our lives after high school. 9-11 did not stop us from growing into the people we are now, so the coronavirus will not stop us from growing into the people we are meant to be for the rest of our lives. Stay safe and remember your fellow classmates, even though you did not get to have an official good-bye. After this project, I hope to create more duct tape art on canvases rather than on clothing!

“I'm a visual artist and author residing in Delray Beach, Florida. As the proud mother of Sara Rose and Hannah Paige and my first grandchild due any day, I appreciate one's inability to explain an everchanging world that we can't understand ourselves. Likewise, I understand a child's inability to comprehend what they hear as well as what they are being told about 'the unknown'. BACHUKI Meets Venom is the 2nd book in the BACHUKI series. In this book, BACHUKI takes his

audience on a journey with some of his old friends and introduces you to new friends, some who can make you sick. Colorful and vibrant, BACHUKI, through many life lessons, creates an understanding that it's okay to say you're not okay and how helping someone else can allow us to work through our own feelings in our own good time. Possibly 'understanding' is the healing force behind the healing process.”

y work is a t e s t i m o ny to divine healing. It is a demonstration of the healing power of art— a medicine with curative properties for body, mind, and soul. Diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and faced with a terminal diagnosis of End-Stage renal Disease, a cure was needed. Painting in Narration was born on June 3, 20117, it is the day I received my kidney and found my purpose. Simple to tell my story. One canvas at a time. My love of colors expresses the abstraction in my work and reflects the realness of moment to moment living. Marrying colors with bold strokes and the use of texture are my signature. Sculpting tissue and using vibrant inks gives voice in my use of text. Adaptation and transformation are at the root of my work. When the brush would no longer yield to my command with my trembling hands, a spoon introduced me tot texture and touch. Dialysis acquainted me with fluidity and the power in silence—painting from different vantage points and meditation.

By Viviana Puello

exican-born artist Mague seeks to imbue the viewer with a reflection on moments of transformation.

To create dimensional, abstract paintings, Mague combines bright and airy color schemes Photography By Alexander A. Driscoll with diverse materials such as oil, cloth, and gouache; natural elements such as wood and metal and paper; and overlays of different media. Drawing her subject matter from nature and often incorporating found objects into her pictures, Mague pushes the boundaries of two-dimensional painting with the layering of pigments and materials. She creates a sense of depth and offers the audience an opportunity to step into the window of the subconscious and the exploration of the human experience. Mague exhibits a prolific journey of beauty and presents to her audience a keen-eyed representation of exquisite detailing and empowerment through the use of symbolism — an exemplified resonance in the deeper meanings and messages of life. During her creative process, Mague applies powerful brush strokes, layers various mediums, and arranges found objects in new relations and settings to create harmony, as well as

contrasts in form and color. A self-taught artist, she has an unconventional way of using various materials, hiding meaning in a myriad of techniques. As an extensive world traveler, Mague is inspired by both different cultures and mother culture, from which she draws personal and spiritual experiences. She bends and joins color to fashion a space where the innocence and flexibility of nature take center stage. The strong central message of hope is present in all her works.

finding and understanding the beauty of ordinary things and everyday scenes. Capturing lines, shadows, textures, and light, her works highlight otherwise invisible aspects that give insight into social, cultural, and sometimes economic facets of an urban setting. In her technique, photographs are subjected to digital alterations that blend with realism to convey her message. The computer-aided alterations add a twist to the images, seemingly like recounting a story that has already been told by the environment. Her artist's soul is drawn to subdued color, reflections, and vacant spaces. Shifra Levyathan's uncanny eye for beautiful, animated scenery and scenarios sets her apart from the average photographer. She utilizes surreal scenery to document reality and send a profound message of awareness on the state of humanity and its world. Her use of intense symbolism and digital alterations are the hallmarks of her brilliant photography, which continues to win over many art enthusiasts worldwide. Embodying a combination of excellent technique with a profound desire to help make the world a better place, Shifra Levyathan is undoubtedly one of the greatest photographers of our times.

Uchenna Odukwe Odukwe draws on the eclectic imagery, color, and by his complex eye to create an extraordinary type Uchenna of abstract surrealism that is unique. Inspired by dream, myth, and dance, he plays with dreamlike images,

lines, colors, and movements to create vivid paintings that spring to life with vital energy.

Swirling, curling, and dancing across the canvas, graceful lines take center stage in his works of varying abstraction. Although many of the artist's works delve into total abstraction, many others depict elegantly simplified figures. Still, each work, conjured in dreams, expresses the artist's deep philosophical musings and inner psychological workings. Living and working in London, Uchenna continues to fuse his fantasy to develop an unmistakable visual lexicon.

portraits, still lifes, and landscapes. Desjardins displays a wellversed knowledge of traditional painting styles, which brings forth realistic images that are beaming with the life of her subjects. “Nature provides all the clues for translating feelings onto a twodimensional surface. Light illuminates everything, so my art is always a discovery of what is hidden within myself, yet wants to shine. It is discovering how light manifests in my reality. of form. Nature is the ultimate guide and inspiration. My evolution into the unknown is a pursuit that is the ultimate curiosity. I must follow my own instinct to discover this realm of the invisible. The visual language I have learned from the observation of Nature is dynamic, subtle, eloquent, and elegant. Like a mysterious, invisible spirit, it invites me to look carefully and discover secrets through my own visual vocabulary. I am a student of light, which always humbles me. To go deeper, I search for the spirit of the thing I am observing. This pursuit of spirit demands the truth of who I am: a delicate, humble, refined soul of an artist.“
