CAN YOU DESCRIBE YOUR ARTISTIC
STYLE?
“My sculptures are contemporary abstracts in their design. My signature style is sensuous curves, touchable textures, and compelling tension between positive and negative space.”
WHAT IS YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS?
“I naturally think in 3D, a gift that few people have. I also see possibilities in raw stones and bring them to life. I work on each side of the sculpture with equal intensity and continually assess its form as it evolves. I want every aspect of the sculpture to draw people’s interest time and again. To me, the most successful art is pieces that you look at over the years and continually see something new and different.”
HOW
AND WHEN DID YOU DISCOVER YOU WANTED TO BE AN
ARTIST?
“I’ve been collecting and appreciating art for all of my adult life. My entry into professional artist and sculptor started with sculpting courses at the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) a few years after taking interior design classes at Sheridan College. My experiences as a collector and the
The difference between good and great art is the energy and emotion that great art communicates through form, shape, and color. I intend to create beautiful art that reaches out and connects with people, bringing them joy and excitement.

classes placed me on the periphery of being an artist. They helped me develop my artistic eye, sense of balance, and appreciation of texture, shapes, and color.”
WHAT MESSAGE DOES YOUR WORK TRANSMIT TO YOUR AUDIENCE?
“What is most important is whether I’ve successfully communicated energy and emotion in my sculptures in a way that allows people to connect with that energy instinctively. Interpreting a sculpture is a unique personal experience, and I openly encourage viewers to interpret each sculpture based on their own experiences. Each interpretation of a sculpture is equally valid within different frames of reference. And because my own perception of each sculpture evolves over time, learning from other viewers’ perspective is part of its evolution.”
HAS ANY PART OF YOUR STORY INFLUENCED WHAT YOU DO NOW?
“My transition from corporate executive to successful professional artist was a welcome change. As an artist, I leverage many skills that have made me a successful executive - analytical abilities, lateral thinking, listening, and being open to different possibilities about how things can work. The need to be disciplined and manage different concepts and inputs means that the change isn’t as extreme as you might think. Now it’s the wonderful recognition I’ve earned as a professional artist that motivates me every day, leaving my corporate life further and further behind.”
