Letter From The Editor-in-Chief, Dear reader, This book is a compilation of hearts, souls, messages, and inspiration from some of the best artists working today. Within every creative mind, a force exists that is stronger than all senses. As Ruben Dario once said, "There is a force stronger than all the armies in the world, and that is an idea whose time has come." That force is what drives us to create. “Rising Above” in Ferrari Red To Bring Awareness For World Peace
Rising above In Ferrari Red This Year Protesting Against War, Violence And Guns, To Bring Awareness For World Peace. The official sculpture for the ATIM Masters Awards was created in 2015 by Viviana Puello and is presented to awarded artists each year. For 2018, Puello has chosen to present a new version of the sculpture, painted in Ferrari Red, reflecting a year full of world events that have threatened social justice and international peace. The elegant, stunning sculpture is entitled “Flying Above.” It is a 25-cm angel-like figure with magnificent open wings and extended arms painted in Ferrari Red Enamel and Gold.
During our creative process for this publication, we worked hand in hand with over sixty artists. With open ears and open hearts, we decided together on the artworks, aesthetics, concepts, and ideas, designing the pages of this book one by one. It has been one of our most fulfilling collaborations--a beautiful journey of discovery and of getting to know the hearts of each of the artists presented here today. This award-winning publication has reached over two million readers in more than 204 countries. This year, we dedicate our book to bringing peace awareness, with the hope that our broad exposure will not only promote arts and culture but also spread the message of these artists to raise peace awareness worldwide. In 2018, the ATIM Top 60 Masters project takes on a new meaning when over sixty artists from more than forty countries will gather together in New York to launch this publication in an exhibition dedicated to spreading peace awareness throughout the globe, "Together for Peace." Art is a powerful tool. Sharing your energy through artistic expression allows you to connect, move, and inspire people around the world. With this, our sixth edition, we thank and celebrate the figures making an impact with their art and hope to be the platform to voice their profound peace dialogue. This special edition is brimming with the creations of some of the world's most awe-inspiring artists--an eclectic mixture that is sure to be enjoyed by everyone. Don't miss our digital issue, available on iTunes, Kindle, and Magzter, which will also allow you to click on the breathtaking images accompanying each article and enjoy the video production of this book. We go beyond the canvas and share with you where inspiration is born. Join us as we take you on a voyage through the beautiful world of art.

Katrin Alvarez “Many Faces”
K
by Steve Joel
Katrin Alvarez's take on art has sent the right ripples in the scene. Hailing from Germany, she has searched the depth of her heart to bring stories, daydreams, experiences, and tragedy into crystallization in her atypical pieces. Her work explores the inner sanctums of her dream world as she tries with satisfactory fruition to bring her thoughts to light in canvas. Often attached to her canvases are pieces of circuit boards and computer peripherals that are linked to human body parts through portrayals of appendages. She delineates the transfer of information from digital sources to the human body, a sort of futuristic science fictional concept where humans are fused with robotic parts to become cyborgs. She also incorporates atypical animals or creatures that are a cross between humans Cont. Next Page

and animals. Introspectively, this may refer to her interpretation of animal-like qualities in human beings that come into being in her paintings. Alvarez has a natural talent for color and a masterful technique. Her primary medium is oil on canvas which she skillfully uses to bring out the detailed features in her painting. Her careful and meticulous technique which just the right amount of light and dark shades add a real three-dimensional depth to her work. Her plight to bring out her thoughts and dreams subsequently instigate a feeling of wonder as viewers hope to gain insight into her mind. atmosphere of pain and focuses on the many affects life experiences have on the influence of one's fears, rooting from more than just one moment. The choice of color exhibits the depictions of physical and verbal abuse, and its torturous effects are evidenced in the faces surrounding her subject. The piece brings to play the issue of abuse and how haunted the world of the victim can turn out to be, the most affected victims being children. Alvarez has been vocal about her yearning to make a difference regarding the many issues surrounding the world; her work is her point of expression, her primary tool to use her voice for a global cause.

The perfect use of gradient blending in her background as the grey borders transition to a soft brownish-white color is enough to merit applause from the fiercest critics. Another testament to the artist prowess is "Otter Pond" which captures the beauty and serenity of nature on canvas. The painting shoes a sparkling and expansive water pond surrounded by lush green vegetation and a beautiful calm sky on the horizon. The artist's successful efforts to capture the viewer's attention are revealed by the intricate level of details on the painting from the ripples on the pond up to the venation of the tree leaves. The composition creates an atmosphere of peace and relaxation as the pleasing reflection of the trees on the pond seek to assuage every fidgety nerve.

Her educational background in art and tenure as a fashion illustrator have contributed significantly to her skill and technique that she steadily continues to perfect. She infuses her works with skills honed from her past career to create enchanting beings that are destined to draw attention to any onlooker. Her medium of choice is oil on canvas, and her color palette screams universal. She incorporates elegant flowing dresses in most of her pieces bringing a romantic and almost wistful fairy tale feel to her work. visage and silky flowing hair is the envy of angels. What may rival this Adonis' beauty is her tiger-striped flowing dress that perfectly hugs her torso and upper body revealing enough on the top and highlighting her svelte figure. The slight fluttering of the figure's hair and dress adds a touch of animation to the piece and beautifully complements the pensive expression of her subject. True to its name, "Pink Prowl" is a display of Ahlfield’s mastery of hue and human figures. The piece portrays an attractive dark woman in a mermaid dress that treads the floor. The background is a wet-into-wet mix of different tones of pink with a dash of cool shades that makes the woman appear as if she emerged from another worldly dimension. The beauty and subtle sensuality of the works evoke powerful, affectionate feeling ranging from love and lust to admiration and lingering questions of where Ahlfield’s wonderous skill continues to root from.

Her mastery of color is evident in the seamless use of both primaries, secondaries, and tertiaries sometimes with mixed media or using a single medium. As her works entice the viewer, they also provoke thought as to the artists' motive and her interpretation of the concept. Hers is a subtle push to a new world whose boundaries are non-existent. As Deserres puts it, her works are a recollection of her usual events in the incredible language of art. representation of human experience and life in general. Johnson's work succeeds in fusing geometrical abstractions with his life experiences and African thematics. Throughout his pieces, there is a cultured expression of freedom and yearning and an active link to his African heritage. Using acrylic and oil on canvases, Johnson creates his two-dimensional version of historical incidences and imaginative worlds hoping to form a bridge to a world that he pleads for understanding. He is a natural master of color and pattern, managing to keep his hues in line with the

message he wishes to convey. He skilfully manages an almost impossible balance between tradition and contemporary art. "They Came From The Sun," is a testament to Johnson's commitment to establish his original identity and reveals his knack for transferring imagination to canvases. The piece shows dark humanoid figures cloaked in bright red robes with golden hair that reach the shoulders. At the corner of the painting is the sun whose hue is similar to the humanoids' hair, possibly pointing to the origin of the beings. The people depicted in the piece could be the Maasai people of Kenya whose beliefs trace their ancestry to the sun, which they also refer to as their creator. Though Johnson has received much acclaim for his original works that focused on African culture and personal experience, he has shifted these themes into more antidotal artistic pursuits.

o discussion on photography is complete without a couple of references to Israeli contemporary photographer Shifra Levyathan's incredible photographic works. Ever since she discovered the digital camera, she has become addicted to the medium's power of expression that revealed to her a new world all around her. Levyathan captures the diversity and colorful personalities of people, old and decrepit buildings which are beautifully sad and the grandeur and sophistication of modern architecture. Her photographs are later subjected to digital alterations that blend with the realism to
convey her message to the viewers. The pictures she takes are usually a reflection of her moods, the more colorful ones depicting her happy and lighter moments while the monochromatic prints are depicting her sad and darker moods. The computer-aided alterations add an almost predictive twist to the images, seemingly like a recounting of a story that has already been told by the environment. Perhaps Levyathan's most propitious asset is her intuition that leads her to incredible scenes where she gets her images. Nature is one of her most visible and essential influences, rephrasing natural patterns on her canvas with skillful use of bold, contrasting colors. Such an interpretation is experienced in her mesmerizing works, like “Sunset Waves” and “Lazure Blue Red,” where she starts from the initial archetypical wave drawing and enhances it with a personal chromatic pattern. She elevates the contrasts by introducing dashes of warm, red tones, thus creating areas with a chromatic climax. Her aweinspiring compositions promote the richness of nature and beauty of our environment. Anna VanMatre’s works have been showcased in ex h i b i t i o n s a n d p r i v a t e collections worldwide. She is the recipient of numerous awards including the prestigious S. ward-winning artist, Brian Rock utilizes a variety of objects and techniques to create works that convey strong sentimentality, promote healing and expose hidden depths in the human condition. Inspired by his life experience, Rock creates abstract expressions of memories, moods, thoughts and his environment. His unique technique of hand mixing his mediums directly onto the canvas, allows Rock a direct contact with the audience, imprinting his memories and sharing his healing process on each one of his
paintings. Making use of mixed media, Rock's work shows remnants of war, dirt, glass, ash, wire, nails, bullet casings and shrapnel. Applying colors as well as found objects to create conceptual compositions, importing representative references that maintain a connection with reality and focus on a more direct view of our society. These influences can be seen in artworks like “Journey” and “Playground,” the latter being an amalgamation of objects and painting techniques that result in a compelling, bold image. The viewer who comes in touch with his work is directly

Rock uses rich warm and chromatic colors, with inviting textures showcasing his world within ours.

arlene J Winfield is a Canadian contemporary artist based in Ontario whose works are heavily influenced by her extensive travels and experiences in various countries including Mexico and Indonesia. She ascribes her indelible passion for painting to the great works exhibited in these countries' museums that left a lifelong impression on her.
"Happy Days " Oil On Canvas, 24”x48”
heavy use of green represents the fecundity of nature as it transitions from winter, a rather dull and inert state, to spring, which is more vibrant and cheerful state. The most animated feature, however, is the spring which is a seemingly frivolous dance of bright colors that create a dazzling effect, bringing this painting to life.
Her approach is a traditional technique augmented by apt layering techniques and impasto applied with a palette knife. Winfield's primary medium is oil or acrylic on canvas done in a representational fashion for her audiences' benefit. Her paintings capture landscapes and changing seasons in vivid and animated colors. With her repeated strokes and unique layering. Her pieces create a cheery, energetic atmosphere that for some may touch on nostalgia. "Spring Foward" captures the picturesque scenery of a water meadow in acrylic on canvas. The

The piece is not a cacophony of color but a diligent application of white, black, blue hues and various shades of brown that create vast, slow laden terrain with snow-covered trees and a beautiful calm sky. As the name suggests, the painting begs for stillness and patience in the process of growing and becoming.

Edgar Francisko “Movement In Color”

olombian artist, Edgar Francisko Jimenez, employs the use of color etching to portray various movements of the Colombian dance. He fuses multiple styles and concepts into this particular approach to develop themes of the Western and Eastern Cultures. In this manner, it is common to see the patterns of Chinese painting and calligraphy as well as lithography in his works. Francisko's technique yields art that seems fragmented due to the use of broken waves of dots to create forms. In this light, a close look at Francisko’s works such as “Love Kiss” and “ Deep Meditation” reveals shapes in static movement with paralyzed and petrified dispositions. The result is a new pictorial invention not tied to any previous artistic rules. Francisko’s creativity is not only limited to the mixing of techniques. Francesco Ruspoli “Human Nature”
F
by Steven Joel
rancesco Ruspoli has succeeded in citing societies' emotional interaction and nature's tranquillity. His works entail human figures in abstract forms of nature, bringing to life societal relations and its impact on today's world. Throughout his work, Ruspoli exhibits the use of vivid oil colors with slight differences of contrast and subtle gradations to highlight the volatility and vacillation of human emotion. By doing so, Ruspoli wishes to evoke new thoughts and feelings from his audience. Ruspoli leaves the
interpretation of his work to his viewer, allowing them to form their visual language and understanding of the paintings. Edge of Silence is a testament to Ruspoli's commitment to his message. The painting depicts a gathering of human figures in a somewhat crowded environment. The huddled plain-faced figures express emotion through color, whatever each color represents is left to the viewer to interpret. The background is a mixture of pink and blue hues giving the painting an evening feel. His skillful use of organic shapes and flowing lines evoke an almost out-of-this-world sense of lived experience, acting as a gateway to another universe. In his work 'Eternal Affection,' Ruspoli employs a similar technique to 'Edge Of Silence' with its use of human shapes and a mixed-hue background. The painting aims at evoking physical sensuality and filial affection. Ruspoli's

by Viviana Puello
ward-winning master artist Peter Karis was an American expressionist whose magnificent works range from abstract to figurative with mesmerizing compositions that explore the dynamic effects of light and color, movement and energy. His paintings attempt to reflect the human spirit and his subjects included people, flowers, trees and various objects from our natural world which captured his eye and stirred his heart. Karis' art was participatory, a shared experience that was meant to engage the viewer's eyes as well as their hearts. Born on March 29, 1942 in Jersey City, Karis grew up in Northern New Jersey and at an early age discover that art was his calling. His technique involved squiggly strokes for borders and repeated medium strokes to fill his figurative forms. His choice of brilliant and dull colors seamlessly interspersed to complement each other, making the artwork visually
appealing. Using mainly acrylic on canvas, Karis was able to convey power and deep emotion in his works that were more evocative than descriptive. His paintings reflected shared memories and feelings that connect otherwise different people. Peter Karis' paintings delve deep into the viewer's soul and bring vivid memories back to light. "Pink Chair" explores the artist's creativity as he recounts a day's moment. The painting depicts a human figure, possibly a woman, perched on a pink chair. Though she has no face, her posture essentially shouts indifference. The careless squiggly red strokes create the figure's outline though not covering the entire picture. Introspectively, the painting is not necessarily meant to stir any particular emotion but provoke a string of questions. As to the artists motive, it may only be known to himself and his creator, Was it an insouciant piece? A recollection of

past events? Or an appreciation of the female figure with his dominant use of the pink color? Maybe, we may never know. What is certain is that Peter Karis has displayed an incredible level of skill and a superb understanding of color in this unique work. Phyllis Jaffe “Rich In Time”

by Yadira Roman
he work of Phyllis Jaffe is a journey in the realm of abstraction, as she focuses on form, dynamic free drawing and intense coloring to convey her ideas and structure her work.Jaffe has a fruitful background in the arts as an educator as well as taking on a role and giving back to her community through women's empowerment crafts. Her work is wildly expressional, with bold colors becoming the bearers of emotional status and balancing with each other in a fragile equilibrium which includes many areas of high contrast and others with grey tones that serve as their tonal foundation. Despite being mostly abstract regarding realization, the chapters of her work include references to reality, as they are her personal view on subjects like natural objects, landscape, seascape, but also include many purely abstract pieces of art. "Detached From Time" offers a warm, and serene choice in color. The tones of the water embodying the emotional and guiding gifts of the element itself.

enée Bellavance, better known as ReBel is a professional contemporary visual artist based in Canada. Her works are a vivid expression of the four elements, earth, wind, water, and fire, created in acrylic 3D visuals that aim at, not only to capture the attention of the viewer but, to evoke a multitude of mixed emotions that reflect her work. ReBel's technique is one that she continues to perfect, bringing the elements to life in black canvases that represent the dark space that makes up most of our universe. ReBel has a particular affinity for the color blue which she doesn't shy away from using in her works. ReBel presents to us a collection of colors through "Eruption", a mix of red, orange and yellow meticulously painted to represent the cataclysmic pact of earth and fire. Sandra Hawkins is a Canadian born multidisciplinary contemporary artist whose works are a campaign to enlighten. She focuses on challenging notions s u r ro u n d i n g t h e h u m a n environment, implications of identity and the actualization of memory. Her success in the field of arts is mostly attributed to her extensive educational background, numerous travels around the globe and an
ardent passion for self-expression and social awareness. Hawkins draws inspiration from the dynamics of the physical environment. Her works reflect the inner and outer mesh of humanity and its connection with the tangible world. Though her artwork can be broadly classified as abstract expressionism, she categorizes her artwork as purely "landscape." She acknowledges her paintings as personal accounts of how the environments unfold around her.
ATIM’S TOP 60 MASTERS 2018
With a wide array of mediums at her disposal, Sandra Hawkins paints using bold colors and strokes and later finishes with lighter strokes for added effect. Her travels all over the Arctic have aligned her primary choice of color to blue, though she will occasionally dabble in the other primaries and their corresponding hues. The results are paintings that are rife with imagery and emotion. The representation tells exciting tales of adventure, capturing the beauty and essence of nature in its significant features and incredible animals in the arctic reaches of the planet. On her other excursions to more colorful places, Hawkins lets loose her creative energy and explores the limits of her skill and technique. Her approach is diligent but free willing, allowing her emotions flow through the careful brush strokes to create amazing images. She manages to capture the spirit of nature and fuse it with the visible world to create her unique version. An almost instant connection is formed between man and nature, revealing our true identity and form. “Liquid Light” Acrylic On Canvas, 48”x36”

As the name states, the painting is a mix of colors and patterns that allude to the unusual but dazzling flora and fauna of the tropical rainforests. It is a jumble of fruits, flower, leaves, and fishes in an ecosystem of color and light. "Blue Morphe" is a piece done by pen and ink that exhibits blue hues and monochromatic colors. The piece depicts a female in a ballet dance pose morphing into the background made of colored Zen shapes with some striped, others filled with circles and solid color. The painting coalesces the human figure to the environment to insinuate some transition from the physical world to a trance state. The figure depicted may have danced with so much passion that she traversed into a beautiful trance state.

It is an element enhanced by the floral and slightly abstract patterns of the works, something evident in paintings like “Salt Body. Anastassiou implements vivid colors in her paintings, underlining the ethereal and surreal atmosphere of her works while referring to personal emotional status. Dana Milik
sing acrylic on canvas, Dana Milik strives to express humanities inner form and impressions. The Polish contemporary artist employs bold strokes of the undulating lies to give her soul a voice in her paintings. Her artworks depict abstract human forms in mainly monochromatic colors. She explores mostly human interactions, memory, personal experience and love as her central themes. "Monkey Spirit" is an expression of the free human spirit. The frenzied bold lines and the sketchy human countenance represent the epitome of the spirit of freedom that borders the animalistic. The black strokes are diligently shaded to enhance the work's visual appeal.
"Monkey Spirit" Acrylic On Canvas, 39”x39”
"Want You," on the other hand, is a stark expression of intense lust that grips the viewer with raw emotion. The painting shows abstract human figures in a close embrace. Though not certain, the male and female figures are essentially nude. She uses bold red spots in this painting with her usual bold black strikes to highlight specific features of the painting. The work captures the natural sensuality of lust as a fundamental human experience.

Her artistic style is characterized by a high degree of accuracy, depicting the natural environment in a way which is truthful and immediate, while she represents scenes of forest, mountains, and canyons. These are landscapes that are wild, but also include an innate sense of tranquility and serenity, reminding the lost beauty that surrounds the urban society. A pattern seen in her work is to combine these landscapes with symbolic elements, an example of such is exhibited in “Catching A Dream,” where she painted a Native Indian dreamcatcher. It is a powerful metaphor for spirituality and tradition, values innate to these societies that lived in harmony with nature. Bonin elegantly structures her works around ideas that promote the peaceful existence and the sheer beauty

ominant patterns in cool tones welcome Erika Lawrence's audience into her bold work. She makes use of spiritual and imaginary visions to structure a complex artistic identity, one that focuses on surrealistic, dreamlike scenes. The color palette of her works plays a significant role in the overall result, as it is often in the brighter scale of tones and focuses on a contrast between the cooler and warmer areas of the canvas. This is also enhanced by the elaborate patterns that are usually implemented, something evident in “The Cleansing,” “Light Beyond Chaos” and “The Meeting.” Highlighting central human figures, dominating the scene but are distorted by the addition of many surrealistic elements, like a multitude of faces, ethereal background and objects thoughtfully placed in between. Lawrence creates works that convey many vital concepts, usually revolving around the notion of spiritual strength and the dominance of light over chaos and darkness.

His technique is one that focuses on abstraction, utilizing only limited figurative references within a maelstrom of colors and dynamic lines. Great examples of his work are “Contamination” and “Spirit,” pieces that make use of a wide array of techniques to shape the final result. The colors are applied with splashes, dashes and also in larger forms that create a solid background, intensifying the outcome and emphasizing on the raw strength that exists on the canvas. It is a profoundly expressive form of art which focuses on the mentality and the emotional state of the creator to convey the feelings to the public and initiate an honest, direct dialogue. roticism is the central thematic concept in the work of Jessica Sallay–Carrington, exploring this part of the human psyche and combining it with animalistic references. These human hybrids can be considered as a direct reference to the more innate qualities of human personality, a status which can be paralleled with the lustful strength and sexual identity. These ideas can be seen in works like “My Body My Choice,” “Stroke My Hairy Legs” and “SelfLove,” pieces that depict female bodies with the heads of animals in poses that are dynamic, and challenge the stereotype of what the feminine represents. Her work initiates a dialogue with the public concerning the depths of personal sexuality and proposes freedom of expression and sexual self-identification especially for women that are regularly oppressed in our society. Lisa Saltzman
isa Saltzman blurs between the lines exhibiting photography with a unique approach to revealing people in an Urban Landscape. Her series of work entitled “City Anonymity.” Is characterized by two main elements, the central figure(s) and the surrounding environment that supports it. Regarding depicting the figures, she has a subtle and elegant technique that parallels the anonymity suggested in the titled, as she shoots moving figures without focusing, resulting in fluid silhouettes that roam more freely within the composition, having a spectral rather than a robust status within the work. The environment has a similar aesthetic, as she has once again unfocused, blurry shapes that dominate the scene. Textures and details become flat tonal planes, while the staircases become dynamic lines within the composition due to their abstraction. Finally, this blurriness is combined with a heightened luminosity which results in a bright white light that bathes the image and structures a rather serene, heaven-like atmosphere. Leaving her audience with the question, of who and where they are looking into.

Michelle's signature touch of transforming shape and movement into multi-layered, textured, protruding compositions, pushes all boundaries to create a unique, innovative technique that leaves the audience wondering whether to describe her work as a sculpture or a painting. In her creative process, tissue paper is formed, compressed and glued to the canvas to create a three-dimensional piece. After drying time has occurred, bold color is applied giving her audience a unique visual experience. This is evident in “Man of the North,” “Beautiful” and “Einstein”, where one can experience the unique structure of the facial characteristics. She chooses to depict the faces by creating many smaller brushstrokes with vivid colors, a process that produces a dynamic with each aspect of the painting to carry the other. Thus, his project can be regarded complete, being not only a personal expression concerning painting with acrylics, drawing, etc., but it also features the artist's ideas regarding writing and character creation, animation, background, and psychology. "SWIMMING NAKED WITH SHARKS" “The Magical Protective Power of Vulnerability”
W
e're currently living in times when covert domination is the name of the game. Deception, cheating, lying, control are considered normal behavior. People feel they have to be like this because if they don't cheat, lie, deceive and attack but instead be real & vulnerable that they'll be made a fool of or taken advantage of. SWIMMING NAKED WITH SHARKS is my message to the world. My manifesto that there are good, honest, true, open people in the world and that the universe protects them. That it's safe to be vulnerable and being vulnerable is the only way individuals and the world will heal. If a naked woman like myself can swim with oceanic white tip sharks in the open ocean then maybe heaven on earth is possible, and the lion really can lie down with the lamb. I invite you to live by my SWIMMING NAKED WITH SHARKS manifesto. To treat others like you'd like to be treated. To insist on reciprocity, equality and goodness of treatment whoever you're with, wherever you go, whatever you do - because you can - and because it may be your only remaining freedom. Genuinely freeing and empowering. If everyone did this could it lead to World Peace? YES. I challenge you to try it & feel the thrill!

ith bubbling inspiration from natur e a n d a n ardent passion for provoking thought and conversation, Zuleyha Ali paints beautiful land and waterscapes in lively colors to dazzling effect. The Maldivian born artist expresses warm and blissful emotions through her meticulously painted works. The paintings are a perfect balance of bold and graceful and depict natural sceneries with noted realism and a touch of imaginative brilliance. When Ali painted "Illusions Never Change," her primary intentions were to highlight the harmony water and air as fundamental elements of the earth. She uses gradient blending and the wet technique to achieve depth and a degree of realism. "The Ripple" is precisely as the name starts, a rippling wave in its infancy diligently painted in teal and white touches with dashes of maroon-red hues. Her mastery of tone is brought out by the transition of teal from its brightest to final grim darkness to form the background of the painting.
