From Representational to Abstract: Volker Mayr’s Multifaceted Artistic Vision
Volker Mayr is an artist whose artistry is as multifaceted as it is remarkable. His work ranges from representational and figurative oil paintings to abstract art, now further explored by digitally manipulating his creations. This innovative approach allows Volker to unleash his full creative potential and craft stunning abstract shapes and compositions.
Volker Mayr is a talented artist with a rich background in fine art. His love for painting was instilled in him from a young age, as he learned the craft from his grandfather, a professional artist. Growing up with the influence of his grandfather’s oil paintings and giant cinema posters, Volker found a deep appreciation for the beauty and power of visual art.
Despite his passion for painting, Volker Mayr pursued a career in journalism to support himself financially. However, his love for art never waned, and he continued to hone his craft in his free time. Eventually, his dedication to painting paid off, and he was able to transition from journalism to full-time artistry.
Over the years, Volker Mayr has explored various artistic styles and techniques. He learned the fundamentals of symbolic and figurative painting through his grandfather’s training and continues to master this art form. However, in 1985, he discovered the freedom and creativity of abstract art and has been developing his skills in this area ever since.
Despite his love for abstract art, Volker Mayr stays within representational and figurative painting. He has a deep appreciation for the beauty of the human form and the natural world, and he finds endless inspiration in the beauty and complexity of these subjects. Overall, Volker’s artistic journey has been one of growth, exploration, and passion, and his work reflects his unique vision and multifaceted creative talent.
For Mayr , representational painting involves more than copying a subject’s likeness. Instead, he aims to capture the essence and emotion of the subject in his paintings. His figurative work
similarly focuses on conveying the human form’s feelings and mood.
Volker Mayr’s technical skills are aweinspiring, and his eye for detail allows him to create masterful compositions. But it’s the emotional depth of his work that sets it apart. Volker’s work is always imbued with feeling. He creates beautiful and haunting images, and his paintings are full of stories waiting to be discovered.
In addition to his representational and figurative paintings, Mayr delves into the world of abstract art. His abstract pieces are mesmerizing and captivating, with vibrant colors and thick layers that draw the viewer in. A sense of freedom marks Volker Mayr’s approach to abstract art, as he allows the forms and shapes to emerge organically from the canvas. These pieces showcase Mayr’s ability to create powerful compositions without being restricted by representational subject matter. Through his abstract

work, Volker Mayr explores new realms of artistic expression and invites his viewers to come along on the journey.
Mayr’s artistic vision extends far beyond traditional representational and figurative art. Volker has also found a new way to push his art further by digitally manipulating his oil paintings.
This process allows Volker Mayr to push his existing work into exciting new directions. He can create unique pieces that stand out by breaking down the traditional boundaries between figurative and abstract art. Volker Mayr’s digital manipulations can turn simple brushstrokes into vibrant patterns and shapes with a life of their own.
Volker Mayr’s digitally manipulated paintings offer a fascinating glimpse into the future of art. By embracing the possibilities of technology and digital manipulation, he can take his art to places that would have been impossible just a few short years ago. Whether you are a fan of traditional representational art or a lover of the abstract, Volker Mayr’s work will surely inspire and captivate you.
CAN YOU DESCRIBE YOUR ARTISTIC STYLE?
Through his training with his grandfather, Volker learned representational and figurative painting. Since 1985, he has discovered the freedom of abstract art for himself and continues to develop it unmistakably. Nevertheless, he always returns to figurative painting. His latest love is digital art manipulating his oil paintings on the computer. As a result,

Jury review by the Netherlands art-competition PAINTING OF THE YEAR “This work is overwhelming. At first sight it seems to be total chaos. But looking longer you discover a vertical structure in the whole that gives you a grip. This is certainly visible from afar. The maker is clearly charmed by the primary colors. With here and there just a different tone of blue-green. White is important in this work. Because this color is of an entirely different order. An almost heavenly order. It gives little moments of escape, as if you are looking through the work. “
he can fully unfold his creative power and creates an abundance of amazing abstract shapes and incomparable color compositions.
WHAT IS YOUR CREATIVE PROCESS?
The secret of the freshness of his colors, preserved over a decade, is based on the highest quality oil paints and the careful preparation of the canvas with several layers of white painting ground. This creates high absorbency for thinly applied paint layers with enchanting transparency and radiance of the colors for eternity. The play of colors unfolds its full beauty when viewed up close.
HOW AND WHEN DID YOU DISCOVER YOU WANTED TO BE AN ARTIST?
The joy of fine art came from his grandfather, who painted oil paintings and giant cinema posters as a professional artist. Painting since early childhood, however, was supplemented by the activity as a journalist to finance his living. Nevertheless, his passion for art finally prevailed and fulfills his life today.

WHAT MESSAGE DOES YOUR WORK TRANSMIT TO YOUR AUDIENCE?
Volker wants to inspire, reach the heart and soul of the viewer, and convey the joy of life with the blaze of colors of his pictures, even in difficult times. For many years, for example, he has been addressing climate change and wants to convey the message of maintaining an attitude to significant challenges. An example of this is his oil painting “Grace Under Pressure” after a quote from Hemingway.
HAS ANY PART OF YOUR STORY INFLUENCED WHAT YOU DO NOW?
When Volker learned that many photos of his pictures on the Internet had been stolen by fraudsters and were converted into NFTs under disregard of his copyright and traded at high prices, he discovered the great charm of digital art, focuses on wall art as aluminum-dibonds on metal under acrylic glass ready to hang.
What composers do with music and poets with words, I wish, with my paintings: to inspire people and create emotions. I want to trigger impulses that make the soul of the viewer vibrate.Series “Colorful Seaside” #17 , Unique piece ready to hang. It is a question of character, courage, and human greatness and how we should encounter challenges or threats.
