Patron | Brett Shuttleworth

Why do people call our patron Brett Shuttleworth the ‘Rockstar of Motivational Entertainment?’ SA Celebrity Magazine asked Ruphali Mahendra Rajani to pose this question to Brett and this is what he had to say: “From a young age, I had a natural ability to hold people’s attention and entertain them. I have further evolved myself by undergoing the highest level of training with one of Hollywood’s most prominent acting coaches, John Kirby, and further going through one of the most rigorous Coaching and Trainer programs at one of the world’s leading consciousness coaching academies, of which I later became a Director. I use my life formation and background as a policeman, professional sportsman, celebrity, supermodel, actor, entrepreneur, corporate director, speaker and father to inspire, motivate and entertain audiences around the world. I have travelled or worked in 16 countries to date to make a difference in people’s lives, creating a ripple effect of love globally. The impact of my work ranges from making souls smile, to motivating sports teams to win, and making a difference on a corporate’s bottom line – this is what I’m absolutely passion about! It’s probably this level of love, passion and commitment, which touches people and leads them to refer to me as the Rockstar of Motivational Entertainment! What is my message through my talks? My message: If I could give you one gift today, I would give you the ability to see the beautiful gift of love you are already. I not only believe that you are already everything you seek… but what you are ultimately seeking for is seeking you, and that is Love, the ultimate success!”

Ambassador | Brumilda van Rensburg

It is a superbly beautiful day in Houghton, Johannesburg: the weather is mild and gentle, the afternoon an orange and auburn glow as the sun sinks behind huge trees. Brumilda van Rensburg, iconic actress and patron of the Foxwood Theatre, is opening the Foxwood Arts Festival. She handles the occasion with the ease and aplomb that have been inculcated in her over years of public speaking. She looks stunning, dressed in a turquoise dress showing off her fine figure, a worthy and glamorous Patroness of Arts. The event is one of many she attends but tonight is special. She has forged her links with the owners of Foxwood House over many years. The circle of people listening to her are enchanted by her sincerity as she reminisces not only about the arts but also the value of friendship. Brumilda is so much more than the glamorous star of top-rated soap operas. Too few are familiar with her brilliant work as serious actress. She has brought to her interpretations of leading roles in Shakespeare and Chekhov i a razor-sharp intelligence and great innate talent. She is an accomplished artist with a sense of self-confidence that only years of experience can create. She is indeed a woman of many parts. Brumilda, brilliant actress, iconic soap star, an established and beloved member of the glitterati. Those epitaphs come to mind, but her close circle of friends know her so differently. As the candles are lit in the Foxwood House gardens, they gather closely around her. They know behind the carefully orchestrated public appearance is a woman of substance and a committed and caring friend. A worthy Patron of the Arts, certainly. Article: Pieter de Vos

sa legend

Freek Robinson Main anchor for eNuus, Current Affairs Anchor of “Robinson Regstreeks”, Media Trainer, MC, Speaker, Facilitator, Conference Chair and all round evergreen TV Personality Freek Robinson is a busy man. We manage to pin him down between everything he does for just a few Q and A’s.

‘While promoting understanding and tolerance’ How does it feel knowing that you have been such a big part of SA television history Freek?

Do you feel that you have inspired viewers or somehow made a difference or improved their lives?

I have been privileged to be part of the evolving TV industry in SA since before it started (1975). It is just amazing how fast technology has changed the industry. It means you have to stay abreast with technical developments in addition to being informed about news events. It is exciting and challenging. In my news career I had a very traumatic introduction.

I know for certain that we have made a difference in the lives of fellow citizens. By putting the spotlight on things that are wrong, you often jolt politicians or officials into action. In asking probing questions and moderating public debates, you invariably help citizens to find answers to pressing issues while also promoting understanding and tolerance.

As a young reporter I was sent to cover the Soweto riots on the second day of the protest. I was nearly killed and just managed to escape. I am sure it played a part in my development as journalist – realizing that you are often exposed to danger but you must remain calm and cool headed. Other milestones that helped to mould me as journalist and person, were my stint in London as foreign correspondent, covering the '94 elections, my interaction with Nelson Mandela and my experience as current affairs anchor and producer.

24

What is the single most important aim, passion or purpose that drives you forward in your career? It is to make a difference. I do not see my role simply as a journalist that must convey information. Nor am I some kind of foreigner parachuting into situations just to report and then to disappear as if I am not part of the living reality. Throughout my career I have tried to be objective, to treat all people of whatever persuasion, race or creed with respect and fairness.

luxury convertibles

BMW 435i Tsogo Sun’s Deputy CEO, Kevin Page’s brother Chris Page is the founder of SA Celebrity Magazine. Recently booked into Tsogo’s 5 star Beverly Hills Hotel in Umhlanga KZN he was asked to test drive a BMW 435i Convertible for a few days. This is what he thought - in his own words - Ed.

‘The power of freedom is tangible’ Some may say that freedom is a feeling, others may say it is an experience. Either way both sides would agree that it is not a tangible object. That is because they have not driven the new BMW 435i Convertible! After sitting behind the wheel of this super car I am now convinced that the power of freedom can be touched and tangibly felt. Her luxurious, spacious interior and sleek exterior lines is a pleasure on the eye. The purr and sometimes roar of her powerhouse beneath the bonnet tantalises the ears.

The smell of the leather seats pleases the nose and the feeling of the very responsive steering wheel is a pleasure to grasp. When something satisfies all of the senses like this vehicle, it can only put a smile on ones face. have driven many cars over the years and I must say that none have given me such a feeling of power, pleasure and pure joy as the BMW 435i. What a privilege is was to be able to put the roof down, feel the roar of the engine and the wind in my hair as I cruised along the coastal road as if calling on the dolphins to swim alongside me in the turquoise waters.

dentist to the stars

Emil Jansen As a public figure and current soap star in Binneland it is imperative that I look my best at all times. I have to attend functions, gala openings and events virtually on a daily basis and then smile with perfect perly whites. Referred to Dr Emil Jansen in Centurion, Johannesburg I had my teeth whitened with tremendous results - and feedback from many a photographer since. Allow me as Executive Editor to introduce you to Emil Jansen.

‘That I look my best at all times - Ed’

Why is Oral Health Important for Men? Men are less likely than women to take care of their physical health and, according to surveys and studies, their oral health is equally ignored. Good oral health recently has been linked with longevity. Yet, one of the most common factors associated with infrequent dental checkups is just being male. Men are less likely than women to seek preventive dental care and often neglect their oral health for years, visiting a dentist only when a problem arises. When it comes to oral health, statistics show that the average man brushes his teeth 1.9 times a day and will lose 5.4 teeth by age 72. If he smokes, he can plan on losing 12 teeth by age 72. Men are also more likely to develop oral and throat cancer and periodontal (gum) disease.
