Patron | Brett Shuttleworth
Why do people call our patron Brett Shuttleworth the ‘Rockstar of Motivational Entertainment?’ SA Celebrity Magazine asked Ruphali Mahendra Rajani to pose this question to Brett and this is what he had to say: “From a young age, I had a natural ability to hold people’s attention and entertain them. I have further evolved myself by undergoing the highest level of training with one of Hollywood’s most prominent acting coaches, John Kirby, and further going through one of the most rigorous Coaching and Trainer programs at one of the world’s leading consciousness coaching academies, of which I later became a Director. I use my life formation and background as a policeman, professional sportsman, celebrity, supermodel, actor, entrepreneur, corporate director, speaker and father to inspire, motivate and entertain audiences around the world. I have travelled or worked in 16 countries to date to make a difference in people’s lives, creating a ripple effect of love globally. The impact of my work ranges from making souls smile, to motivating sports teams to win, and making a difference on a corporate’s bottom line – this is what I’m absolutely passion about! It’s probably this level of love, passion and commitment, which touches people and leads them to refer to me as the Rockstar of Motivational Entertainment! What is my message through my talks? My message: If I could give you one gift today, I would give you the ability to see the beautiful gift of love you are already. I not only believe that you are already everything you seek… but what you are ultimately seeking for is seeking you, and that is Love, the ultimate success!”

Ambassador | Brumilda van Rensburg
It is a superbly beautiful day in Houghton, Johannesburg: the weather is mild and gentle, the afternoon an orange and auburn glow as the sun sinks behind huge trees. Brumilda van Rensburg, iconic actress and patron of the Foxwood Theatre, is opening the Foxwood Arts Festival. She handles the occasion with the ease and aplomb that have been inculcated in her over years of public speaking. She looks stunning, dressed in a turquoise dress showing off her fine figure, a worthy and glamorous Patroness of Arts. The event is one of many she attends but tonight is special. She has forged her links with the owners of Foxwood House over many years. The circle of people listening to her are enchanted by her sincerity as she reminisces not only about the arts but also the value of friendship. Brumilda is so much more than the glamorous star of top-rated soap operas. Too few are familiar with her brilliant work as serious actress. She has brought to her interpretations of leading roles in Shakespeare and Chekhov i a razor-sharp intelligence and great innate talent. She is an accomplished artist with a sense of self-confidence that only years of experience can create. She is indeed a woman of many parts. Brumilda, brilliant actress, iconic soap star, an established and beloved member of the glitterati. Those epitaphs come to mind, but her close circle of friends know her so differently. As the candles are lit in the Foxwood House gardens, they gather closely around her. They know behind the carefully orchestrated public appearance is a woman of substance and a committed and caring friend. A worthy Patron of the Arts, certainly. Article: Pieter de Vos

My personal 2015 wish is that I make more decisions that make me kinder person. Kinder to myself, other people and animals. I think if we all make one more of those decisions right now, earth will be a much happier place! And the best thing of all is, a lot of those decisions are actually quite simple and small, yet make big difference. Like a phone call to report abuse...

Chris Avant-Smith | Radio Personality The energies are certainly changing, and 2015 seems to be lining up as a year of change. For me, my biggest wish for 2015 is that as a country we continue to fight Corruption and Graft, and return to the ideals we shared in 1994. My personal biggest wish is that e-tolls would disappear, and I wish that 2015 is a Champagne and Caviar year for all of us.

Quintin Wils | Director and Script Writer ‘Take this new year day by day’
Recently named as one of Mail&Gaurdian's Top 200 Young South African's of 2014, Quintin Wils is surely one of the people to look out for in 2015. When we caught up with him to hear what his vision for 2015 is, he said "I am just going to take this new year day by day. Because I'm constantly traveling for work I think it is important that we must all just enjoy life. In my industry we are all permenantly running up the hill hoping to get the next big contract, instead of just sometimes standing still and enjoying the view of where we are at that moment in time." Also recently nominated for the ImpACT Award for Theatre, Quintin is definitely one of busiest young directors in the country. When asking him what his new years resolution for 2015 is, he laughed "My new years resolution would be not to make one at all, 'cause that's the only one I know I can keep! HaHa!". Named as one of the National Arts Festival's 'Rising Stars' in 2014, it will come as no suprise to anyone if Quintin soars even higher in the new year 2015!

Linda Shaw | The Sunday Times Astrologer ‘Doing absolutely nothing for an entire week’
My wish for 2015 is a hope and belief that we will find a cure for Ebola and I wish we could all stop fretting about whose side God is on instead of just work with the energy of love. I wish I could lie about doing absolutely nothing for an entire week, guilt-free. Lastly, I wish everyone would learn at least one spiritual language - so we could all read each other’s energy and forgive each other for being such idiots.

Au de Hex Invited to stay at the Dunstone Estate in the Western Cape recently we had the chance to sample their delectable food, their impeccable service, friendly hospitality and all round five star experience - with the most beautiful views. With only a few bedrooms available for guests on the estate, my bedroom was exquisitely furnished and could not have been any more comfortable. I decided to invite good friend Matthew Krone (from the Krone Cap de Classique empire) to join us for dinner at the estate and he gave the Dunstone Rose the thumbs up, with a heavenly smile to boot Editor.

The pride of this historic site is undoubtedly the floating jetty beneath a romantic Bedouin-style tent. The jetty overlooks the Hawequa Mountain range and is the perfect location to celebrate a special event, be it a wedding ceremony, a birthday function, Jazz ensemble, a celebratory dinner or film shoot - added to the Au’ de Vine Restaurant which is open Monday to Sunday (offering gourmet breakfast and lunches with a French Flair in the Boland).

rocky horror show
Brendan van Rhyn The Rocky Horror Show has enjoyed incredible longevity since its first performance way back in 1973 and forty years down the line, this little 'gem' is still going strong. Having not quite had the desired impact at first, this bubble-gum and candy-floss show about men in fishnet stockings (as many people like to think of it) quickly built up a HUGE cult following to ensure it remains the world's best-loved Rock 'n Roll musical. This is a piece about sexual awakening; about taking the audience to a place they have never been before (or have and would like to return) and about living your truth - "Don't dream it, be it". We sat down with the lead of the show Brendan van Rhyn who plays Dr Frank-N-Furter and asked him to explain the show’s success.
‘Don’t dream it - be it!’
“The Fugard Theatre's take on Richard 'O Brien's cult classic has most certainly, in my opinion, made this the best version of the show the world has ever seen. South African audiences have been in the grips of Rocky Horror fever since it opened in Cape Town in July 2013 and when we all take our last bow after 445 performances, those fortunate enough to have experienced this phenomenon, would have seen this country's second-longest running musical in history. The success of The Fugard's production can be attributed to many factors: for starters there was a lot of hype created before we opened (at least six months) with very powerful and effective media campaigns driving the show. These have continued throughout the last 18 months so not many people can argue that they didn't know the horror was back! The inclusion of a few 21st-Century elements, such as the projections and visuals, have just given this version of the Rocky Horror Show an edge and contributed to the fact that we are and have been the hottest ticket in town!

A first-class publicist also goes a long way to ensure sustainability. Casting also plays a vital role in the success of any show and the love that we have for each other on and off stage most certainly plays an important part in ensuring we delight the masses night after night. The "partici...pation pack" has been a definite winner and theatre goers have had no reason not to get in on the action. What with all the confetti, streamers, noise-makers and heckling, patrons have never felt excluded from what's happening on stage - it's as if they have been drawn into the story themselves. Direction, choreography, costumes, set - these are ALL factors that have turned what was supposed to be a 8-10 week run into so much more. Nine Fleur du Cap Nominations and a total of three wins later, we can be very proud of what has been achieved...an experience that will be hard to repeat but one that I have embraced wholeheartedly with both arms - and my 6-inch stiletto's!”
