The Red Lion bar and Jubilee Gardens stage at the 2018 Arundel Festival. This years line-up is second to none and caters for all tastes. Over the next few pages we have the order of play and a few words about some of the brilliant acts we are hosting this year. Read on, we’ll keep the intro short... just let the music and variety do the talking. Please give all the artists a very warm greeting before they indulge you with their talent. We hope you have a fantastic time and enjoy the event. We are going to give some special thanks to : Lewis Harding, MC/DJ Tony, Mike Saunders of The Playroom Arundel, Brian at Sound Q, Mike Medway for the lighting, all The Red Lion Staff and all who helped to make this possible. FRIDAY 17TH AUGUST Burlesque with

Dawn Gracie 19.30 Back for the fifth year with a heart pounding burlesque stage show in the Jubilee Gardens on the 17th August. Sitting just outside the official Festival dates, this evening of high kicks, camp comedy and of course beautiful humans, has become known as the ‘fringe’ show as if it’s the naughty little sister of the main Festival. Proud to be bringing her ‘Starlet’s Burlesque Show’ to Arundel, Dawn continues to sweep across the South coast with her campaign of fabulous, bringing diverse, eye opening and empowering entertainment to audiences who just can’t seem to get enough. Celtic Simbel 15.15 – 16.00 Songs and tunes of celtic and folk origins performed by Mal Simms and Jules Bell Mal Simms; Guitar, Vocals, Whistle, Bodhran. Folk veteran Mal Simms’ passion and knowledge of folk music is the driving force of Celtic Simbel’s extensive repertoire. Jules Bell; Fiddle, Vocals, Bodhran Playing the fiddle since she was 7 years old, Jules was introduced to the folk circuit by Mal Simms. A Graduate in Music and Art, Jules’ creativity is the inspiration behind the unique arrangements and individuality brought to each song.

Old Owens 17.15 – 18.00 The Old Owens band are a country and Americana acoustic four-piece the perfect balance of soaring vocal harmonies supported by guitar, mandolin and double bass. It’s a sound described as ‘inspirational’.

Rich Somers 15.15 – 16.00 Rich Somers”s distinctive soulful voice sits comfortably amongst some exquisite acoustic blues licks, dirty and a groove to seduce.

Beatroot 16.15 – 17.00

An instrumental funk band based along the South Coast since 2012. Beatroot have developed an upbeat and creative repertoire. Guaranteed to liven up audiences and get them on their feet.

A Tad Tighter 17.15 – 18.00 A Tad Tighter, 5 piece band covering tracks that other bands don’t. We are a ‘cover everything band’! If a tune won’t make you dance we probably won’t do it

Kym Lucas has been an Arundel resident for 34 years and vocal coaching for the past 10 years from her Arundel based Recording Studio and decided this Variety Night would be an ideal chance for some of her students to showcase their fantastic voices!

20.30 – Virtuoso Dance Company We aim to provide a happy and safe environment in which students can learn performance skills and get the chance to use them without the pressure of exams, giving them a platform to develop social, physical, and communication skills that will be transferable to all walks of life. Virtuoso’s end of year show is taking place at The Regis Centre on Friday 31st August and Saturday 1st September 2018. With routines from The Greatest Showman, Oliver, Moana and many more in the styles of tap, jazz and production it will be fun for the whole family. In the Bognor, Littlehampton, Chichester and Angmering area since 2010. The classes are suitable for all levels and incorporate fitness and dance into a fun activity that improves self-esteem and confidence. The owner, Sue Thompson, is a qualified Pole Fitness, Aerial Hoop and Pilates Instructor and is supported by a number of other fully qualified and experienced instructors.

21.00 – Law of Fitness Pole Studio

The studio opened 4 years ago and now we have 7 classes per week both during the day & in the evenings. Our objective is to encourage people of all genders ages & sizes to give Pole Fitness a try as it not only builds physical strength but stamina, confidence and an awe at what our bodies can achieve - all whilst having fun! We love it, and are sure you would too :-)

The James Wheeler Quartet 16.15 – 17.00 With music which is eclectic and versatile, falling between bop and jazz-funk, the James Wheeler Quartet display accomplished musicianship but always with a friendly and inclusive style. Playing a set crammed with original compositions by all four band members. Featuring: Kevin Walker (Guitar), Rob Clunes (Piano) and Rowan Shulman (Bass) and James Wheeler (Drums).

Despite numerous assassination attempts, Regulator returns to the Arundel Festival this year under tight security. Their free-flowing, full-throttle, no-hostages brand of 1960s/70s classic rock proves that this ain’t their first rodeo, Cowboy. Freddie, Harry, Grambo, and Stephen ain’t got time to bleed!

Electric Feel are a five piece feel good party band from Littlehampton playing all the hits from yesteryear right up until the modern day. More than your average covers band, they bring a show to the stage and off it too with a huge emphasis on crowd interaction and audience participation. SATURDAY 25TH AUGUST Tom & Ash 13.15 – 14.00 Play a rich and diverse variety of music, ranging from classical to jazz, fusion to flamenco style Spanish music and anything in between, with a repertoire suitable for literally any occasion, from weddings to restaurants and folk clubs to festivals.

Avenue 14.15 – 15.00 Stephanie Callard and Ed Gibson are ‘Avenue’: a modern acoustic duo that met for the first time in their university common room. Stephanie heard Ed playing his guitar, was instantly drawn to his style and introduce herself; they met the following week for a writing session and their first single, ‘The Island’, was finished in an afternoon.

A unique blend of covers and original tunes from Mike Fry and Lewis Harding.

Their own brand of Indie Pop from salt, sand and sea with songs of love and labours lost.

Psychedelic, rocked out, sample heavy, electro trip hop - this is one to watch and enjoy.

Harry & the Hounds 19.15 – 20.15

Rev’d up rockabilly, cosmic country and blistering blues from Brighton’s own, Harry & The Hounds. Playing classics from Elvia Presley, Chuck Berry, Stray Cats, Ricky Nelson, Jerry Lee Lewis and many more, the band are sure to have you up dancing all nice!

The Superpowers 20.30 – 22.00 They’re back! The Superpowers are a four-piece band from Guildford, serious about their music, but with a good sense of humour. They generally gig in London in the winter months, but outdoor festivals, where things can get really lively, are what they like best! The show includes a mixture of punchy rock songs, cow -punk tunes and a sprinkling of cover tracks. The guys always have fun on stage and go out purely to entertain. So, join with the energy of ‘The Supers’ and the unique performance from Matt De La Matt (vocals), Powers Kernel (Guitar), Stiv Bassgod (Bass) and Mr Cozy Powers (Drums). Are you ready!? Matt says: ‘We’re looking forward to Arundel Festival, come rain or shine, and you’re all invited to have fun too! That’s got to be a plan, right?’

SUNDAY 26TH AUGUST Tim Sturdy 14.15 – 15.00 A singer/songwriter and is a true talent, his vocals have a beautiful Jim Morrison feel to them and his songs are truly distinctive, he is so good it almost makes you rethink your views on Country music which is where his roots are clearly based!

The Logical Hairs 15.15 – 16.00 Do you find that certain things in life annoy you? Things that wind you up? In the great scheme of things they may be a trifle, may seem irrelevant and unimportant, but get on your nerves anyway? Well, The Logical Hairs have probably got a song for you!

Stiff Upper lip 16.15 – 17.00

Ticklin’ the Pickle 17.15 – 18.00

Playing a mixture of Indie, Pop and Rock, Stiff Upper Lip are from the Bognor Regis/Arundel area and cover songs by artists such as Garbage, Republica, Sheryl Crow, Blondie, Cheap Trick, The Cars, The Primitives, Pink, Hole, KTT Tunstall and more. HE RED LION

A Sussex based, female fronted, four-piece rock covers band. Together these four musicians have a vast history of gigging, touring and studio recording, working alongside bands and producers such as Reef, Cradle of Filth, Jesus Jones, Focus, Martin Smith of E.L.O, Tony Clarke (producer of Moody Blues), Cutting Crew and Siouxsie & The Banshees, to name but a few. Covering songs from Led Zeppelin, Bon Jovi, The Cranberries, Van Halen, The Rolling Stones, Reef, Stereophonics, Kings of Leon, Maroon 5, The Cult, Skunk Anansie, Muse and many more from the 60’s to the present, this band will definitely get you into the mood.

Action Hank 20.30 – 22.00 A whole host of top rock covers and popular music performed in their own special way. This final act on Sunday evening is a tough one to follow! 9

MONDAY 27TH AUGUST Tom Janes 13.15 – 14.00 Regularly been performing as a solo classical guitar act and as part of a duo (Tom and Ash). Plays weddings, festivals, and parties – playing a mix of classical, traditional Spanish music and jazz – as well as my own compositions.

Red Kite Drift 14.15 – 15.00 A lively acoustic band playing old and new covers with a few originals mixed in.

Marvin Ford 15.15 – 16.00 Marvin Ford. Arundel’s own “Unexpected Star” from the BBC 1 Show Michael McIntyre’s Big Show will be performing on the Jubilee stage after returning from a Rave review U.K. & Eire tour with String’s new musical The Last Ship.

The Aim 16.15 – 17.00 Bad Billy Band Formed in the late 1980’s in South London they 17.15 – 18.00

released some singles with Sussex recording company Detour Records then split up in 1994. Fast forward to 2014 and original band member Grant Judges has reformed the band to record a song to support the charity ‘Food For All’. With new members is now a 9 piece band including Violin and Sax. The band has supported Madness, The English Beat, Paul Young, Hoosiers. They have released two albums and have a third on the horizon!

British Folk/Rock band, Bad Billy Band are an established group that plays thumping,toe-tapping original music. They are notoriously great live and have played to many audiences around the south of England. Not to be missed!

Those Restless Knights 18.15 – 19.00 Friendly and energetic function band from West Sussex. Covering songs from old to new.

Emerging triumphantly from the ashes, one man down but many songs up. Captain Kappas all star experience spectacular’ are ready to rock the Jubilee stage once again in a gig that’s destined to be remembered as ‘an amazing thing that happened that August weekend’ and ‘definitely music’!
