M OST IM PORTANT THINGS TO DO THE SUM M ER BEFORE YOUR SENIOR YEAR

Your personal guide to applying to University

BROUGHT TO YOU BY FARAH SAABN EH

THIN GS TO CON SIDER For most high school students, including myself, summer is probably the time of year we look forward to the most. W hat's not to like about traveling overseas and not needing to worry about deadlines all the time?Summer vacation, on the other hand, should be carefully planned by upcoming seniors as it is one of the last opportunities you will have in order to plan in advance for university admissions? among other applications. There are a multitude of ways for you to make the most out of the last few months before your senior year. Consider what?s most convenient for you.

to complete either the ACT or the SAT. Although a majority of schools have become ?test optional,?it's essential to establish sufficient time to study for any of these exams, and summertime is an excellent time to do so because students often have more time on their hands. As most application forms are submitted in the fall, the possibility of sitting multiple tests beyond your junior year is limited. If you, as a high school student, haven't obtained the score you were aiming for by the summer before senior year, it's crucial you utilize the time you have in the summer preparing to retake the test before it's too late. There are several online sources you can use to help you Regarding admission requirements criteria, most institutions allow students do so, such as Khan Academy, 4Tests,

and the official College Board website, where you have access to past exams that are downloadable. In addition to SAT/ ACT preparation, if you are applying to schools in the United States it is vital to start thinking about what content you will include in your college essays. The essay you construct for college just may be the most crucial element of your application. It is the part of the application where you have the opportunity to display your best qualities/ traits and persuade the college admissions officer to accept your application.

Col lege essays Usually you have a lot of leeway to express your creativity within these essays; however, when you are presented with a prompt, it is important to articulate your answer clearly in order for the admission officers to get the right impression of you. But, like most valuable things in life, a winning essay necessitates effort. Furthermore, writing about yourself isn?t as easy as you think. You need to take initiative towards spending time to reflect on your demeanor and start figuring out what?s the best approach to present yourself. Lastly, and most importantly, every rising senior should make sure that they have finalized their college list. You should already be aware, ahead of time, which

universities you intend to apply to before you begin applying to them. There are countless schools in the United States and overseas that offer undergraduate education. It will take some hard investigation and insight on your behalf to reduce down a list of colleges to which you will be willing to apply.. Numerous high school seniors apply to around five to ten ? although you can apply to up to 14 ? universities, including competitive institutions, safety schools, in-state colleges, out-of-state colleges, and others. W hen making your college list, attempt to include as many colleges as possible. Things that you should examine when formulating your final college list consist of the following:

IM PORTANT FACTORS Firstly, when you begin searching for universities, you'll find that you will start with a long list of possible choices . When you later move onto generating a shorter list, these are vital factors that should make up your final decision on whether you will end up applying there.

1

M A JOR W hat are your job prospects?Does that university create a lot of comprehensive employees in your desired field?

2

Academics: Does the university you're considering offer the degree you're looking for? In your chosen field, how powerful and influential is the college? Are you looking for highly specialized classes or more diversified experiences?

3

QUALITY OF LIFE Is the school ancient or run-down in terms of facilities? Is the campus appealing as a place to spend a significant amount of time? Living Quality: W ill you be able to locate inexpensive and decent housing. on-campus or in the surrounding area? Is the location of the housing in a secure location?

COM PETITIVENESS Performance: Some colleges are more rigorous than others when it comes to admitting students. You want a decent balance of schools that you believe you have a strong chance of obtaining admission to. W hatever activities you want to pursue, college is a great opportunity to discover new interests and deepen existing ones.

4

ATM OSPHERE Social Life: Do you picture yourself integrating into the community and making friends at this college? Having a good social life will make your college career simpler. Having a social life keeps you from feeling lonely since you have somebody to talk to and listen to. Second, if you require assistance, you can seek assistance from your pals.

All of these factors make up what should be considered your final choice. You'll only be returning to your home country for a few vacations and significant holidays once you've left for university. To put it another way, your existing family dynamic is about to come to an end. Whilst you still have the opportunity, take advantage of the current situation and utilize as much time as possible during the summer before your senior year.

Sen ior's Ad v ice for Hig h Schoolers!

Wha t is one p iece of a d vice you would g ive to hig h schoolers to ha ve a suc cessful jou rney? Natalie Haddad

Before we send off our hard-working experienced seniors, the class of 2022 has some wise words they would like to leave you with!

Benjamin Anderson: "Take the time to learn who you are. Spending your life trying to please everyone and not knowing how to make yourself happy is crazy! Take time to yourself, be you :)"

Tia Khosla: "Try EVERYTHING - you never know what sticks with you for life."

Dalya Shaikli: "Take everything step by step, don't rush, and let things play out the way they're supposed to. You will make it, don't worry."

Yousef Abdel Razek: "Never slack in the first semester of any grade but more specifically grade eleven as it will make the rest of your year much harder. Furthermore, any class you may think is impossible can be aced with enough time, effort, and dedication. Sacrifice some of your leisure time but do not forget to have fun."

Nadim El-Najjar: "GET INVOLVED!"

Juliet Murphy: "Focus on your APs when you can don't leave them till senior year."

Ines Abat: "Choose what you like to do, not what your friends do."

Abril: "I wish I had been more aware of the prerequisites for the career path I wanted to follow. Because I didn?t skip precalc or double up on Algebra 2 and Geo in 9th grade, I couldn?t take any AP?s relevant to my major until senior year, so now I feel overwhelmed with six incredibly important APs. Pay attention to your four-year plan and push yourself in the beginning so it?s easier towards the end!"

Now some even more wise words from one of our counselors Ms. Harvey! Amanda Harvey (counselor): BE KIND.

Be kind to yourself, and realize that mistakes and disappointing grades are part of the learning process. No one mistake or grade will have major consequences for college admissions. So relax and give yourself a break. You will graduate and go to college! Be kind to your teachers. They are trying their best and care for your progress. Remember that you and your teachers are on the same side and want the same thing - your success. So communicate with your teachers and build positive working relationships. Be kind to others - your friends and also those who are not your friend yet. Being a teenager is hard, confusing, frustrating ..... everyone else feels like you do, so be kind to your peers. As you want others to be kind to you, so pay it forward and show kindness, compassion and empathy whenever you can. It will make your High School experience better in every way. Be kind to the many support workers on campus who work tirelessly and often unseen to keep our school functioning. Smile, say hello, and make them feel seen and appreciated. It will make them, and you, feel better.

We are all wishing our seniors the best and will miss them very much, thank you seniors for leaving us with great words of advice!

But it is not just a music festival, it is also HUGE when it comes to fashion. Usually the outfits are unique and mind-blowing, but this year was a total FLOP. I?m here to show you coachella?s two worst fit flops of 2022.

James Charles James Charles never fails to have a fit flop when it comes to Coachella, you could say he?s the fit flop king. His previous outfits have never failed to become a meme amongst the media. This year he wore one outfit that really kept his legacy of the fit flop king alive.

1 This outfit is pieces of fabric glued together 1/10. This outfit lacks style and creativity. It looks like left over bits from an arts and crafts store that were glued together. The green, yellow and brown did not go well with each other, especially with the orange stitching.

Billie Eilish Billie doesn?t usually have a common pattern of fit flops, but she does have a common pattern when it comes to lacking creativity in her outfits. She seems to always stick to the same style of clothing and never venture out. This year she chose to wear a graffiti shirt with matching shorts and knee pads.

2 4/10 This outfit is lacking creativity, and the graffiti pattern on the shit and shorts just make them look dirty. The knee pads were honestly something else. I truly don?t see why they were incorporated into this outfit. They look dirty and throw off the whole fit.

Overall Coachella this year really only had fit flops, but these two were the ones who really had a light shine on them for me. Both of these outfits look like children put them together. Hopefully next year Coachella has less fit flops and more show stoppers.

Best Online Shops to Buy From for Cute Summer Outfits By: Yasmina Abughazaleh

It's almost here? summer of 2022! I don't know anybody who isn't excited about taking a long vacation filled with relaxation while looking their absolute best. But of course, there can?t be summer without cute clothing! There are many popular online stores that are trending nowadays, and more people seem to buy from them. And especially since summer is right around the corner, cute outfits such as dresses, skirts, tops, pants, bathing suits, and more are being purchased from these online shops. All it takes is a click on the website and an ?add to cart?button to look the cutest in summer! Here are four of the best online shops for the nicest summer clothing, and I guarantee you will end up shopping.

#1Motel Rocks is an online clothing shop from Britain that has mostly vintage and printed clothing styles. It is mostly aimed at teenagers since the style of clothing does catch the eye of many teenagers. As of 2020, the brand is worth an estimated £2 million. A lot of people from the United States tend to order Motel Rocks, and it has spread to Europe and Asia as well. The reason why this online shop is so popular is that their style of clothing is cute, cool, and fashionable but exactly what teen girls are looking for these days. This shop includes items like dresses and skirts (bodycon, mini, printed, etc.), tops (cropped, strapped, long-sleeved, sleeveless, bodysuits, etc.) hoodies & sweatshirts, shorts, jeans (low-rise, flared), and many more. They also have jumpsuits and swimwear with a variety of options. Every single piece of clothing has a particular style, so I?m sure you would be interested in purchasing. I recommend browsing through this shop, so if you would like to buy this style of clothing for the summer and get some cute new outfits then click on the website and go for it! Princess Polly is an Australian brand based in the United States and founded in 2014. This online shop is mainly known for its dresses because a lot of teenage girls are interested in the styles that they display. Their dresses come in many different styles such as bodycon, halter, curve, mini, wrap, slip, party, formal, casual, and more. The colors include black, blue, white, pink, floral, red, purple, green, yellow, and more. This website is the perfect option if you're looking for pretty and fitted outfits for going out. This online shop became very popular recently and always has been for the past couple of years, and a lot of people are buying from it. They ship to the United States, Australia, the UK, and Canada. For this summer, they have restocked and filled in multiple new categories for different styles and designs. This has gained quite a lot of attention, and it is clear why. If you want to feel pretty and look forward to having new clothes, you should shop from Princess Polly and add things to your cart this summer!

#3Pretty Little Thing is a UK-based fashion company owned by Boohoo Group which is very well known by some. It operates in the UK, the US, France, the Middle East, Australia, Ireland, North Africa, and more. This website is organized by category and has a lot of options. It goes from clothing to summer, figure, dresses, tops, shoes, accessories, beauty, and more. Within the categories, there are many options for materials and styles of clothing such as denim, blazers, jumpsuits, rompers, crop tops, and more. Those mostly appear in the general clothing or summer category. Within the dresses, there are certain ones containing wrap, long-sleeved, midi, bodycon, and more. What?s also great about PLT is that they provide sections on their website with additional categories such as occasions, ranges, trending, and colors which can be helpful if you are looking for something specific. For example, if you are looking for something to wear for a beach vacation or a night out, there are plenty of options in particular! All their items are super cute and worth the hype. Take a look, and you can purchase the things you want!

Triangl is an online swimwear brand with worldwide shipping that was founded in 2012. This online shop is known for its great swimsuits with a variety of different styles, designs, materials, and types of swimsuits. Their swimsuits are also good quality and deliver well. And, since it?s summer soon, the new swimsuit set-pieces need the beachy vibes and island trips if that is the occasion for you this summer. The only issue with this brand for some people is that it is slightly overpriced. One swimsuit set can be around $90 which is approximately 300dhs. Some of the sets are not worth that much, but people still purchase them anyway because of how cute they are. Another beneficial thing about this website is that they have the specific names of the items, so it makes it easier to find which ones you are looking for. The names are also specific including the type of swimsuit and a word for the way it looks (for example, the color or design). Overall, if you are looking for new bathing suits to fit your upcoming summer vibe, I recommend Triangl!

MEN'SSUMMER

Designers all around the world have been pushed to think creatively about how they wa promote their collections over the previous few decades. Certain fashion sectors have in ideas into their display approach. Balenciaga's marketing films and JW Anderson's look are two examples. Despite the fact that the majority of fashion companies and designer to pursue a new marketing strategy, the Summer 2022 runways saw a large return displays, which was a brief lapse in comfort for people in the fashion indust

Men's Fashion Week Spring/ Summer 2022 was marked by heightened creative vigor Along with the popularity of black, there was also the emergence of a new formality vi wear. T he clothes, on the other hand, were made to bring us back to the social life we' neglecting for the previous two years: imagine innovative variations on outerwear, colo guy styles with glittery pants that will get anybody on the dance floor. T he designers' season is demonstrated by the incorporation of typically feminine elements such as hee clothing, and shorts reinvented as skirts into the core of the male wardrob

Workspace Casual: With its jackets, tuxedo pants, collar, and necktie, a formal aesthetic that is now devoid of any impediment, designers reworked an entire officewear language to bring on a promise of a summer that is both loose and stylish.

Bermuda: Bermuda shorts, which were essential steadily for the past season, are still in style this summer. But don't worry, even though extra-short shorts aren't exactly in style, they're still legendary and quite wanted.

Mini Short/ Skirt:

T he miniskirt/ short seems to be not exclusively just for women. Prada ventured with a half-short, half-skirt style with a Sixties flair when L oewe and Phipps launched the item. Versace;MOM

,

Cutouts: Nicolas Di Felice debuted his inaugural traditional male collection for Courrèges this summer, and cutaway items were undoubtedly one of the design statements of summer 2022. Other designers followed suit, including Rick Owens' bodysuit and Y/ deconstructed Project's marcel.

Green: Designers are returning to nature with their designs this season, a comeback worthy of Marie Antoinette's decision to quit the Court in 1783. I t appears like we are traveling to the countryside, with a presentation of vibrant colors and exquisite green. Fendi, T hebe Magugu, and Ermenegildo Zegna all followed this style.

Versace;MOM

Torso: Putting your torso on display has become a fashion trend. T he T -shirt no longer fulfills its fundamental purpose for the young Spanish designer Alled-Martinez. I nstead, it wraps itself quickly around the torso, whilst Dolce & Gabbana opts for a conventional swim short. Men will be courageous in the next year.

Sleeveless T he sleeveless sweater, V -neck or round, has become rather popular and can be seen on the runways throughout Fashion Week. Prada developed a signature by incorporating this into elegantly fashioned versions, while Dior Men and Erdem imbued it with a wide range of styles. T he sun is shining, and the guns are drawn...

Feminine Goth mania! Heeled boots, like the skirt, are losing their feminine characteristics to become part of the male attire. I n a nutshell, audacious!

Fiesta: From Etro's metallic leggings to Dolce & Gabbana's thousand-colored crystal suit, now is the moment to channel your inner night owl with a variety of colorful and striking glitter items.

Hallucinogenic: Pink and electric blue were very in this season, the designers had a vision for bright, colorful, and lively summer patterns to graze this season's runway. T he kaleidoscopic-inspired designs and usage of a variety of pigments highlighted the fashion industry's desire to bring back luminance in color into today's clothing. Many fashion houses followed this trend such as JW Anderson, L ouis Vuitton, and L oewe. Versace;MOM

Black! Fashion is reaffirming its return to the essentials and traditional construction with a solid color, black, following a vibrant rebirth this summer. Kim Jones for Dior Men, for example, reintroduced his legendary beautifully tailored Oblique suit, while Anthony Vaccarello's Saint L aurent leaned on his distinctive minimalist design. Simple and efficient.

Varsity Jacket: I f you can just buy one jacket to be fashionable, make it this one. T he varsity jacket, which is traditionally worn by soccer players, rugby teams, and sports leagues, this timeless piece has now found a way to sneak into the men's boutique collections and runways for Summer 2022, as seen on T V series and other all-American "university films" like Grease.

Pink Explosion: Coloration, pink, and fluorescent were first seen on the runways during the monsoon season and will certainly return for Spring/ Summer 2022. Pink is at the number one spot of colors to fall for, whether it's an embroidered Ami suit, an entire ensemble at L ouis Vuitton, or an athletic rendition at GmbH.

L eather: Mid-season is when leather is generally worn. I t balances the concept between time and space to display a newly interpreted feel of summer in a look, especially in pants.

During the mid 60s and early 70s, the hippy look was still popular, but Vivienne Westwood had something else in mind. She was more into the 50s rebellion style of graphic t-shirts and leather. Vivienne Westwood started by making Teddy Boy clothes for Malcolm McLaren, and together they created the company Let it Rock. Let it Rock was focused on grunge styles, incorporating biker clothing, zips, and leather into their designs. Their collections were very experimental for the time period, and the brand was popular among the growing youth punk population; her early designs helped shape punk fashion.

Westwood used her degree in jewelry making and silversmithing to enhance the look of her designs and further give it that punk look her designs were so famous for. The brand was later remodeled and renamed Too Fast to Live, Too Young to Die; this brand focused heavily on punk-inspired clothes. It included a lot of leather, chains, and black, similar to the previous shop. Too Fast to Live, Too Young to Die was most known for its graphic t-shirts, which displayed messages that are provocative as well as criticized the government, causing the brand to be prosecuted under obscenity laws. So, the brand was renamed again to S*x, despite the charges against them. This new store was extremely successful and was worn and made popular by the famous punk band, the Sex Pistols.

"GOD SAV E T H E QUEEN "

...................................................................................................... Jamie Reid - artist and anarchist - created extremely provocative images of Queen Elizabeth for the Sex Pistols?record sleeve called, ?God Save the Queen." It deconstructed Cecil Beaton?s portrait of the Queen, and the image rapidly became incorporated into many T-shirts created by Vivienne Westwood. The band and Vivienne Westwood received a lot of criticism due to the shirts, but this did not affect any of Westwood?s supporters. Many people supported the message that was relayed through the design; their loyalty to Westwood did not fray. This led to punk becoming more normalized and included in society. After a couple of years, the store was again renamed and became the infamous brand we know today, Vivienne Westwood.

Vivienne Westwood and McLaren?s first show in 1981 on the stages of London Fashion Week - named the Pirate Collection - solidified the brand into the fashion world. The collection, relating to its name, was based on ethnic pirates. It featured baggy trousers, fabric overlapping techniques like draping, and other layering techniques to create the pirate-inspired designs. The collection was seen as romantic, and it captured the eye of the London fashion scene. Vivienne Westwood constantly went outside of the social norm when it came to fashion, using many new and odd techniques to revolutionize the fashion industry. Westwood took inspiration from history, indigenous cultures, and the society around her. Throughout Westwood's collections - new and old - the continual use of historical cuts, like bowler hats, skirts mimicking regency dresses, pantaloons, and asymmetrical hems, is evident. Westwood?s designs incorporate a dynamic yet thoughtful process behind them, which is why her collections and fashion shows are loved by many. Westwood expresses her bold style through her collections and designs, which never cease to make a statement. Vivienne Westwood strays from the norm, and her motto is less is more, which is clearly shown through her many collections and runways. Westwood?s collections have served many wild looks, but no matter what, there is always a purpose and meaning behind the designs. Vivienne Westwood is a maximalist who uses fashion as a form of protest, and many people believe her collections to be refreshing.

The Fall 1993 Ready-to-Wear collection is Vivienne Westwood?s second most iconic show after Westwood's 1981 Pirates Collection. Westwood took layering to the next level as, in this collection, every silhouette featured includes some sort of layering and/ or draping. Each piece is entirely unique; there are many combinations within her designs like plaid and bright colors, corsets and fur, and many more surprising mixtures. Also, the merging of modern and early 19th-century fashion is evident in her collection through Westwood?s use of bowler hats, hourglass-shaped suits, and floor-length coats. Lastly, the most significant aspect of Vivienne Westwood?s collections is the shoes. This collection is famous for its almost 6-inch heels with cross lacing, which caused the famous model Naomi Campbell to fall over on the runway.

Westwood utilized fabric gathering and layering to give the collection a four-dimensional look. NBAPl ayof f Pr edict ions Keyaan Khan Finally! It?s May and the NBA playoffs are here. Sixteen of the NBA?s best teams will go to head to head in deciding who will be crowned the champions of this NBA season. There are so many talented and star-studded teams to choose from, but today I will be giving my predictions on how the NBA Playoffs will look. It?s interesting cause this year is different. Why is it different you may ask? The difference is that this year, there isn?t a clear winner like in the previous years. This year, there are so many amazing talented teams to choose from as a winner. For example, Giannis and his Milwaukee Bucks, or the defense-oriented Boston Celtics, or the sharpshooting Golden State Warriors. All three of these specific teams are huge contenders for the banner this year, including tons of other teams like Miami and Phoenix. The moral of the story is that you can?t predict what?s gonna happen this year, making it so much more fun and interesting for us as fans.

Due to the first round already concluding, I will be predicting the 2nd round all the way to the finals.

Keyaan's Pr edict ions Ph oen ix Su n s vs Dallas M aver ick s (Con f er en ce Sem i-Fin als) Phoenix had the best record in the NBA this year, with 64 wins and only 18 losses. An absurdly out of this world record to maintain during the long 82-game season. With stars like Chris Paul and Devin Booker, this team is bound to make a run for the championship. The Mavericks are a young team with by far the best rising star in the league, Luka Doncic. As the future is bright for the Mavericks and their young star, I just can?t see them beating a veteran team like the Phoenix Suns. Therefore I am predicting that the Suns will win in 6 games, due to the more experienced team they have and the better bench depth they have. Golden St at e War r ior s vs M em ph is Gr izzlies (Con f er en ce Sem i-Fin als) The Golden State Warriors have dominated this era of basketball. This team starring Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green has been to the NBA finals 5 times in the last 7 years. That is absurd considering how much work and dedication it takes to make it to finals once, let alone 5 times! Like the Mavericks, the Grizzlies are a young team with one of the brightest young stars in the league right now, Ja Morant. Like the Mavericks, the future looks bright for the Grizzlies, but I am going to go with experienced players over the younger teams. Therefore I predict that the Golden State Warriors will win in 6 games due to their championship pedigree and the experience the team has from going to the final 5 times in the last 7 years.

Keyaan's Pr edict ions(Count ) Bost on Celt ics vs M ilw au k ee Bu ck s (Con f er en ce Sem i-Fin als) Now this series is a tough one. Both the Boston Celtics and the Milwaukee Bucks are strong contenders for the title this season. Boston has an amazing core of guys who specialize in great defense and team chemistry. While the Bucks have the most dominant player in the NBA Giannis Antempokounto carrying their squad. The Bucks are coming off winning a championship last season, but they are without their second option Kris Middleton, which is huge and is asking for young guys like Grayson Allen and Pat Counnighton to step up. While the Bucks do have Gianiss and are coming off the winners from last season. I just can?t see them beating such a great defensive unit like Boston without Kris Middleton. This leads me to say that I think the Boston Celtics will win in 7 games, 4-3. M iam i Heat vs Ph iladelph ia 76er s (Con f er en ce Sem i-Fin als) Another action-packed series in the eastern conference is the Miami Heat taking on the 76ers. While both teams played strong in their respected 1st round series, I personally think the Miami Heat will stomp on the 76ers. The 76ers are missing their MVP-contending big man Joel Embild in the first two games, which is greatly detrimental to the 76ers. That will have to ask an aging James Harden to carry his team past the Heat in the first two games. That is something I doubt will happen as James Harden is a reflection of his former self in his Houston Rocket days. The Heat?s strong core of Bam Adebayo, Jimmy Butler, Victor Oladipo, and reigning sixth man of the year Tyler Herro will be way too strong for this 76ers team. This leads me to say that the Heat will win in 5 games, 4-1. Golden St at e War r ior s vs Ph oen ix Su n s (Con f er en ce Fin als) While as I mentioned earlier, the Phoenix Suns did finish the season with the best win-loss record in the NBA, that doesn?t necessarily mean that they are the strongest team in the playoffs. While they do have stars like Devin Booker and Chris Paul, I just think they are not strong enough to take on the Golden State Warriors. The Warriors have the deepest bench in the league, with guys like Gary Payton III, Jordan Poole, Jonathan Kuminga, and many more. It makes it almost impossible for teams to compete with them, to add on the shooting of Curry, Klay, and Wiggins, the leadership of Draymond, and the phenomenal coaching of Steve Kerr. The Phoenix Suns are no match for the Golden State Warriors. Allowing me to say that the Warriors will win in 5 games, 4-1.

Bost on Celt ics vs M iam i Heat (Con f er en ce Fin als) This is a series that could be so unpredictable in so many factors. The biggest factor for me personally and the key for the Boston Celtics is how are they gonna guard Jimmy Butler. Jimmy Butler is by far one of the best scorers in the NBA today, and I know for a fact that when Jimmy gets going, the Miami Heat are unstoppable. But, I have a ton of faith in the Boston defense that was ranked number 1 this year in defensive efficiency. I certainly think that the Boston Celtics defense with Rob Williams and reigning defensive player for the year Marcus Smart can cause havoc for Butler. Along with their highly offensively talented young duo of Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum that took down the all-mighty Brooklyn Nets that were deemed ?unbeatable?. These recurring factors lead to me saying that I personally think the Boston Celtics will win in 7 games, 4-3. NBA Fin als Pr edict ion : Golden St at e War r ior s vs Bost on Celt ics Both of these teams are fantastic considering how many people are predicting the same finals match-up as me. As I said before the Boston Celtic's defense was ranked number 1 in the whole NBA and they were able to take down the ?super team? Brooklyn Nets. While these factors are all true, I just can?t see the Celtics being able to contain the Golden State Warriors. The offensive firepower, the depth, and the sharpshooting are just way too powerful for the Boston Celtics. Personally, I think the Warriors have the best-constructed team in the NBA, with the best system, allowing me to predict that I think the Golden State Warriors will win the NBA Championship this year in 6 games, 4-2.

Source: VOI Jakarta lies on a swampy plain, on low coastal land, surrounded by 13 rivers that run through the city, yet the reason the capital continues to sink is attributed to the fact that the average person in Jakarta lacks access to enough water. A majority of the population lack access to sanitation piped water, so they get water by digging wells. As pumps advance deeper into the ground, water is extracted from aquifersunderground sheets of rock that hold groundwater. If just one pipeline is multiplied by a million then we have a serious problem. The rock acts as a soaked sponge; the more

water extracted, the

Usually, pumps alone don?t create such environmental disasters. However, when coupled with the issue of urban development and the high usage of concrete as the city rapidly grows, the problem is further aggravated. Rainfall that would usually restore the emptied water reserve, doesn?t get absorbed and underground layers don?t recover any water. This combination of circumstances makes Jakarta?s situation alarmingly rare. As decades went by, Jakarta?s population multiplied, meaning more people required housing, streets, and stores, causing the city to expand fast. However, its water infrastructure still doesn?t provide for the majority of the population. According to Christina Thornell, a journalist at Vox news, in 1959 only 12% of the population had access to clean water and 55 years later it remains under 50 %. Therefore, most of the population has no other option but to keep pumping groundwater to survive. The Indonesian government recognized the seriousness of the situation and suggested moving the capital of the state to Borneo, however, such an initiative doesn?t change the reality of

Jakartans who

continue to struggle with the sinking of their city.

T

he earliest known newspaper circulated in ancient Rome, circa 59 BC. Journalism has helped inform the world about major events, government corruption, and world affairs. Journalists compose and compile news pieces that will appeal to their target audience. They keep their audience up to date on developments in their community by bringing together a variety of diverse sources and ensuring that all of the viewpoints of the stakeholders are reflected. Without journalism and journalists, the entire globe would be in the dark.

Pentagon Papers Referred to as ?The Pentagon Papers? these documents revealed that the US escalated its war by bombing Cambodia and Laos, conducting coastal assaults on North Vietnam, and launching Marine Corps strikes, none of which had been covered in the US media. With the help of The New York Times and The Washington Post, Daniel Ellsberg, a strategic analyst for RAND, a non-profit organization, published one of the largest leaks of military secrets. As a result of disclosing the Pentagon Papers, Ellsberg was initially charged with conspiracy, espionage, and theft of government property. Despite being threatened by the government, The New York Times and The Washington Post risked all to defend the First Amendment to allow every citizen access to the truth. The Pentagon Papers were released at a time when support for the United States' engagement in the Vietnam War was quickly waning and validated many people's concerns about the government's active role in igniting the fight. The investigation did not address President Richard Nixon's policies, but the disclosures contained within it were damaging, especially because Nixon was up for re-election in 1972. This event was the precursor to Watergate.

Watergate On June 17th, 1972, five men were caught breaking into the Democratic National Committee Headquarters in Washington DC. They were wiretapping phones and stealing important documents. This was not just an ordinary robbery. All five men were connected to President Richard Nixon's re-election campaign. Thanks to the amazing investigative journalistic skills of Washington Post journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, Nixon?s role in the crimes was revealed. The information they uncovered about the scandals going on in the White House led to the government?s investigation and eventually the resignation of President Nixon on August 9th, 1972. 69 government officials were charged but only 48 were found guilty of being involved in the crime. Their determination to uncover the truth and bring to light the abuse of presidential power resulted in Woodward and Bernstein being awarded a Pulitzer Prize in Investigative Journalism. The abuse of presidential power for personal gain has most recently reappeared during the Presidency of Donald J. Trump. President Trump?s ability to cast doubt and fear on the election results of 2020 is quite similar to President Nixon's need to manipulate his supporters 47 years ago.

Walter Cronkite - " America's most trusted

man"

Walter Leland Cronkite was an American broadcast journalist during the 60s, 70s, and 80s. He was known as one of the first broadcast journalists on American television. He worked for CBS Evening News for 19 years, often cited as ?the most trusted man in America? due to his highly rated work. Some of his most famous broadcasts include JFK?s death announcement, Vietnam War, Moon Landing, and Watergate. Cronkite played a huge role in creating the format of broadcast journalism that we see today. Walter Cronkite's news on Vietnam showed how the media's tendency for negative reporting changed public support in the United States for the war. Though Cronkite did not regret his appearance on television, he believed that advances in media technology contributed to the decline in printing of newspapers and magazines in the 20th century. Cronkite was awarded the Peabody award, a Presidential Medal of Freedom, and was inducted into the Television Academy Hall of Fame. Walter Cronkite helped to transform broadcast journalism and was an inspiration for many who decided to pursue a career in the field.

Christiane Amanpour Christiane Amanpour is a British-Iranian investigative journalist famous for her reporting during the 2011 Arab Spring uprising and her reporting on the twentieth and twenty-first century wars around the globe. During the Arab Spring, Amanpour was the only journalist to interview Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and Libyan leader Muammar Ghadafi. The most inspirational part of Amanpour 's career would be the reporting she did on wars across the globe. She has covered genocides and wars in the Balkans, Africa and Iraq. She was there when the Berlin Wall fell, she covered the breakup of the Soviet Union and Bosnian War, and she was the last journalist to interview King Hussien of Jordan before his death. Amanpour has contributed so much to the journalism world as she has never been afraid to stick her neck in and fight for the stories she wanted. Not only is Amanpour an amazing investigative journalist, but an inspiration for people all over the world especially for journalists. She not only broke through the constraints that defined what it meant to be a foreign correspondent, aka being male, but she also demonstrated that a girl can be anything she wants to be with hard work and persistence. For her outstanding reporting, Amanpour has won every major broadcast award, including nine Emmys for News and Documentaries, an Inaugural Television Academy Award, and most importantly, the Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism.
